Name:Nathaniel Mortmaigne Race: Tiefling (Winged) Class: Warlock (Celestial) Background: Criminal Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Backstory: Nathaniel was born a true infernal bastard of his noble mother Lady Mortmaigne but sent away from the Mortmaigne estates to a simple orphanage in Baldur's Gate to be lost and forgotten, but he quickly took his refuge to the streets and backalleys, stealing and conning people for a living. Recently Nathaniel has had dreams of a radiant angelic being claiming to be Ezekiel, his guardian angel, connected to a talisman his mother sent with him. Ezekiel has granted the tiefling some celestial powers but in turn expects the young scoundrel to turn his life around, something Nathaniel has no real interest in doing, but just maybe events to come will make the young tiefling realize that doing good can be an entertaining way of life too. Traits: Cynical carouser with a taste for all the good Baldur's Gate can offer. Slow to trust. Ideal: Nothing in Baldur's Gate is free. Chains were meant to be broken. Bond: The pledge to Ezekiel to one day to truly earn his granted celestial powers Flaw: If there’s a plan, he will forget it. If he doesn’t forget it, he'll ignore it.
Personality Traits (2): [1]I am utterly serene, even in the face of disaster. [2]I’m largely oblivious to etiquette and social expectations.
Ideal: Logic. Emotions must not cloud our sense of what is right and true, or our logical thinking. (Lawful)
Bond: For their part in both saving my life and continued generosity, I am forever in the debt to a noble house of Baldur's Gate as far as I'm concerned.
Flaw: If forced into close proximity to persistent idiocy, I cannot help insulting the source.
Backstory:
Long before Kizeha became a private investigator that more often than not served the interest of certain noble houses within Baldur's Gate, she was largely raised in one of the greater settlements of Githzerai on Limbo. Due in part to early influence from her father, who himself was a member of the Sha’sal Khou, a group of radical githyank and githzerai that work together towards reunifing their people, any interest in strictly pursuing ascetism fell to the wayside in favor of the goals of the Sha'sal Khou. Or at least what she'd been allowed to partake in before growing old enough to become a member. Unfortunately, during a mission that should've taken her through a plane known as the Beastlands, an incident occurred that left her instead stranded on the plane of Mechanus, the home of Modrons and place of stringent rules, for years. Though she would adapt and learn much, she also nearly lost herself to the full influence of the plane, before aid in the form of her father finding her would arrive and disentangle her from the bureaucratic nightmare that in part kept her trapped upon the plane.
Together, she and her father would return to Limbo, but she would not linger for long. Her time on Mechanus had changed her in more ways than one. And while there was plenty other work to pursue as a member of the Sha'sal Khou off plane, in the end, she settled for a trip to the material plane to supposedly decompress and "find her way". She has since spent the better part of a year settling into Baldur's Gate, and after some misadventure that garnered her the attention of certain parties, took on the mantle of a private investigator as a means to repay the generosity shown to her among other reasons...
Background: Comes from a wealthy family but doesn't want to follow in their footsteps. Instead causes a lot of trouble for his family with petty crime generally in Robin Hood fashion.
Appearance: He has long black hair with a bluish shine to it, dark eyes, tall and slender. Tends to dress in dark blues and blacks... because rogue. :)
Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Personality Traits (2): Kindhearted but kind of a smartass. Tries to do what he thinks is right.
Ideal: Again, always thinking about what's right but will go against the grain to do it.
Bond: Very close with his younger brother, who he hopes will follow in his footsteps rather than his parents'.
Flaw: Impulse control.
Backstory: Rix was far from the golden child of his family and as he grew, he pushed to be further from the family favorite. He grew to hate the politics involved with being wealthy and began to undo a lot of the things his family put in place.
Thank you for all the amazing applications! This is going to be a difficult decision for sure. I will take a look at the applications today and send invitations this weekend.
