From behind the thick veil of shrubs near the cave mouth, Eldrin crouches low, one knee pressed to the earth. Beyond the entrance of the cave, a ratfolk, draws his focus. T
Eldrin narrows his eyes. His voice is no louder than a breath. A single word, inaudible to any but the Weave itself, releases the spell.
The air shudders faintly as an invisible needle of thought, razor-sharp heads out from Eldrin’s mind and into the cave’s threshold. A jagged psychic intrusion meant to burrow into the mind of the unsuspecting ratfolk, unraveling concentration and creating dissonance.
Action: Cast Miond Sliver on Ratfolk C; Int Save DC13 Damage: Psychic 3
Eldrin, please give me a concentration saving throw after taking the 6 damage from the bolt DC 10 to maintain concentration on web.
Ratfolk C fails his save and clutches his head as a sharp pain pulses from inside of it, worse than the worst migraine. However, the pain subsides quick enough and Ratfolk C runs at the elven wizard, intent on closing the gap and ending the threat. Action: dash to come to within melee range of Eldrin, just south of him.
Back in the mine, Ratfolk E lets loose a bolt at Zephyros after watching him throw his trident at his leader. Attack 21 hits, Damage 4.
Meiramoves forward next to Eldrinas she draws her daggers. She strikes with both silvered weapons. (Dagger Attack: 12, Damage: 8 piercing; if either blow hits - Sneak Attack: 8 piercing damage) (Dagger Attack: 11, Damage: 2 piercing)
"Eldrin, you need to get back from here. I'll follow," she says, trying to take a peek if any of the others have broken loose.
Eldrin winces as he steadies himself, blood darkening the sleeve of his robe. He gives Meira a tight nod, eyes moving to her blades and then to the shifting forms in the web ahead.
“Agreed,” he mutters through clenched teeth. “I’ve no desire to be skewered today. Your lead, I’ll follow.”
With one last glance toward the snarling ratfolk, Eldrin begins to retreat, moving low and careful, trusting her to hold the line.
Back inside the cave, Gareth moves forward into the next room just enough to get line of sight on a wererat. He aims for the leader, hoping that perhaps cutting the head off the snake will demoralize the rest of the rats.
Bonus Action: Slayer's Prey on Wererat Leader. It will take an extra 1d6 damage the first time each turn Gareth hits with an attack.
Eldrin's con save: Nat 1 fail. As the bolt hits Eldrin, his concentration is broken on web and the spell immediately dissipates. Releasing all enemies from its effect.
Meira runs up beside Eldrin and attacks Ratfolk C just before it strikes the elven mage. The first attack is devastating as the dagger sticks the wererat deep in the kidney, but it's able to block the second attack from landing. The wererat is barely able to keep standing after the blow and is bleeding heavily.
Giant Rat A dashes at Meira and closes to within melee range.
The rest of the wererats at the entrance begin funneling out, firing their crossbows at Meira and Eldrin. Two attacks at Meira, Attack 16, damage 8. Attack 11 miss. One attack at Eldrin, Attack 8 miss. Two bolts are fired too quickly and fly above your heads, but the front wererat hits Meira with a bolt that sinks deep into the rogue's shoulder.
Gareth enters the wererat's den and looses his third silvered arrow at the Ratfolk Leader. Gareth hits his mark and the arrow embeds into the backside of the leader. She cries out in pain as Torrin also swings his silvered pickaxe at her face. The combined attacks send the leader crashing to the ground, dead. Torrin then moves into melee range of Ratfolk E (currently hunter's marked).
Don-Jon counter strikes Ratfolk G with a flurry of daggers. All three attacks hit and finish off the wererat as it crumples under the onslaught.
That brings us to the top of the round! Back to Lyra!
Lyracomes out from hiding to find that most of the ratfolk surrounding her have already been dealt with. Though she spares a quick thought for their souls, she knows there's no time to waste—Eldrinand Meiraare still out there, and they'll surely welcome the rest of the team's help. So asks Tymora's hand that she helps with the remaining ratfolk, before dashing toward the cave's entrance as fast as she can manage… which isn't very fast, given her considerably shorter legs.
As she passes near Don Jon, the cleric calls out, "Don't be so crazy! I can't able to heal right now, so don't just jump into danger again—follow Zephyros' instructions!"
Lyra's round 4: Movement (25 feet) + ActionDash (25 feet): towards Eldrin and Meira. I don't want her to advance first, but I believe everyone else (dwarves and party) will be faster and pass her, anyway. Bonus Action: The Spiritual Weapon (round 4 out of 10) moves right next to Torrin and attacks Ratfolk E. To Hit: 24 /Damage: 4 Special: Concentrating onPass Without Trace
(Not healing anyone in this turn , because Zephyros/Garethare mostly ok, Eldrin/Meiraare unreachable. Don Jon is pretty beaten but he's not top priority right now.)
Lyra, dashing across the room puts you into melee range of Ratfolk E. Your spiritual weapon hits the last remaining wererat with a glancing blow.
Boggin runs up next to Tymora's ethereal arm and swings a silvered pickaxe at the creature, but the Ratfolk jumps back just in time, causing the attack to miss.
Zephyros kills the last wererat in their den with a swift thrust of his trident. Ratfolk E collapses to the ground, dead.
Grinlie says, "Come on kin! More O' them at the entrance! Let's get 'em!" He then dashes through the open door to the North, past Dremlie and Finlie, and out of view.
Worry and doubt creep into the elven wizards calm and calculating façade. Aware of the growing threat to him and Meira, Eldrin casts mind sliver at Ratfolk C before turning to run. He moves 30 feet to the north, putting as much foliage in between him and the rest of the Ratfolk coming out of the mine.
Ratfolk C grabs its head as a spike if psychic pain incapacitates the creature. The pain, too much to bear, causes the wererat to fall to the ground, dead.
Meira, glancing back to the entrance you see three wererats flowing out of the entrance, crossbows drawn. However, just past them you also see three of the dwarves coming out of the mine behind the wererats with their pickaxes ready to strike. You are up!
Eldrin staggers back a step, one hand pressed tightly to his side, blood warm and unwelcome between his fingers. His breath hitches, but he forces the panic down, shaping it into focus.
He mutters sharp syllables under his breath, words that hum in the air like a tuning fork struck too close to the skull. A ripple of unseen force lances toward the nearest ratfolk, no flash, no flame, just the sudden and suffocating pressure of a thought not their own, driven like a spike behind the eyes.
“Think on that,” Eldrin whispers, voice taut with pain.
Without waiting for the result, he turns, gritting his teeth as he forces his legs to move. The world narrows to the rhythm of his breath, the sting of the wound, and the rustle of brush as he pushes north—seeking cover, distance, and the faint hope of survival.
Meirastrikes at the giant rat in front of her with a thrust from her dagger. (Dagger Attack: 10, Damage: 5)
She then slips away from the creature (Cunning Action - Disengage) and starts moving northward, in the general direction Eldrin went. (Ending 10 fr. from Eldrin one square E then one square SE.) Hopefully she can get some cover from the brush. "Eldrin, there's dwarves behind these creatures, but if they keep after us, we may need to get out of sight."
Meira, the giant rat nimbly evades your blade as you stab at it. It runs after you and bites at your heels as you hurry away, you feel it's teeth take a piece of your clothing, but it fails to find the flesh beneath. Attack 10 miss.
