You are sitting at a tavern table waiting on your beer when a dwarf comes up to you and asks for a favor:

“My name is Varrin Axebreaker, and I have a proposition for you. My clan has located wealth stolen from us many years ago, but it’s sealed in a vault that’s magically locked. If you can recover the key—whatever it is—you’ll gain the undying gratitude of Clan Axebreaker. And I’ll cut you in for a percentage of the recovered treasure, of course.”

“The catch here is the person who knows how to open the vault is rotting away in the prison of Revel’s End. She’s proved uncooperative with my people in the past, but I recently discovered the vault where she hid what she stole from us. I need you to question her and learn how to open the vault. How you do that is up to you; if you need to spring her from the prison in exchange for this information, please do so. I can provide you with a way in, as well as the layout of Revel’s End and a few useful tricks.”

“Here, have an image of the prison:”

 Varrin replies swiftly: “The doors are sealed with some kind of magical lock, I don’t know how to unlock them though. I have no knowledge of any other magical defenses for this place, do you have any more questions?”

“What about outer defenses? Most prisons are more interested in preventing unauthorized departures than unauthorized entry. How secure is the perimeter from outside intrusion? I’m trying to determine if we will be seen if we try to approach stealthily and how likely we’d be shot if we were seen.”

 ”You don’t need to worry about sneaking up stealthily, I have a boat to take you there so you can disguise as some cooks or guards, your choice. As for outer defenses, the walls are 5 feet thick and made of stone but there are no guardian monsters.”

Varrin hands you disguises to fit in: “You may be a cook or a guard.”

Gus looks down at his tiny frame

“I don’t foresee anyone buying me as a guard.”

 Varrin hands you a chef’s outfit, “Be prepared to leave by sundown, you may go shopping while you’re in town. There’s an Apothecary, a General Store and Market. Be prepared to survive long, dangerous conditions. Good luck with my quest, fellow heroes. I’ll leave the other outfits here for the rest of you.” 
Varrin leaves the bar with a nod and your beer finally arrives.

The Halfling Torm slides one of the beers to himself, takes a long deep gulp of the brew, and says, “Might as well give me one of those cook’s uniforms too. Neither one of us look the part of a guard.”

”We should probably pack an extra uniform for the prisoner. In case we need to figure a way of smuggling her out. Every extra tool will help.”

Alden takes his boots down off the table where he had his feet kicked up, pushing his hat up from his eyes and examining the map. He pulls his drink towards him with a wry smile. Well, I suppose that falls on me to play the part of the guard, then. It does rhyme with bard, I suppose. The colors on those uniforms are dreadful, though. He kicks back again, this time with his drink.

Vorrash sighs and cracks his arms, speaking in his deepish, yet smooth voice. What does that make me? Just not disguised at all?

Torm sets his emptied beer on the table with a chuckle. "Actually, mixed-blood, that's not a bad idea. If the bard and the druid dress as guards, you could easily play the part of . . . prisoner?"

With one bushy eyebrow cocked at Vorrash, the halfling looks to the rest of the table for their input.

“I’m not sure about anyone going in as a prisoner. That just means we have two to break out instead of one.”

Vorrash looks to the both of them, and pulls out a little spherical machine. "Well, this little beast could be... an animal? And I could say that it is a animal trained for therapizing the prisoners?" His draconic tail moves around before curving into a question mark. "Might not work, but if it does that makes the job much easier."
