Kaster fumbles and bumbles with his crossbow in a hurried, very fumbling manner. If anyone was paying the halfling any mind it would be quite apparent that they had very little actual experience using the weapon, specially in "real world" situations. Still, Kaster does what he can to load the weapon and then aims it with one eye closed and let's loose. crossbow bolt towards "Dead-Eye." Kaster hopes more that he does not hit Samosh or Bees than he hopes he hits the actual pirate...
Crossbow vs Dead-Eye: 11 to hit for 9 piercing damage
Liatris was by no means a person comfortable with raising her voice, let alone inclined to do so even during extreme circumstances. However, their orders, dealings, and liberties were clear on the current matter: neutralize anyone that got in their mission. And yet, as Tarina leaned over the railing to take a shot at the pirates below, Liatris narrowed her eyes and seemed almost thoughtful. "... No, not yet."She murmured, before then striding closer to the side of the railing.
At which point, one of two things would happen next. Either in knowing the flaming fist used horns to call upon nearby members in distress, Liatris whips out her own and heartily blows on it, counting on it sounding similarly enough to the standard issue as to call in reinforcements, if not give the pirates pause. Or, if too uncertain in the make of her horn varying too wildly from the standard ones of the flaming fist, she pulled out and readied a dagger, meaning to throw down at the pirates below.
"Enough. Drop your weapons and surrender. We, agents of the Flaming Fist, are placing you Deadeye pirates under arrest. Failure to comply will result in your /immediate/ execution on the spot. You will /not/ be warned again."She demanded, trying to emulate and project some of the forcefulness even common flaming fist members seemed apt at doing so when on the job. But between her at best dispassionate expression, the general throng of activity covering her voice, and other factors, her words were bound to fall on deaf ears...
Action:Ready to throw Dagger at Pirate E. (Ignore if it would be a full action to try and intimdate them. In which case, the rolled result was a unnatural 1, see game log)

If Dead-Eye Cadavrus is unmoved by Liatris' attempt to make the pirates stand down, she does the following.
Threnody charges, boots hammering across the floorboards of the Elfsong Tavern. She barrels forward, and springs into the air at the last moment, her dark cloak flaring behind her. With a grunt of effort, she drives the tip of her spear in the direction of Dead-Eye's good left eye.
"When you're gurgling on the last of your life's blood, remember the treachery you did to Murosko." The tiefling says coldly, bringing her shield up between them.

Samosh attacks Dead-Eye with a swift palm strike. The pirate grunts in pain but just manages to dodge out of the way of the upper cut.
Kester tries to shoot Dead-Eye, but with one eye closed his aim just isn't good enough and the bolt flies harmlessly past the pirate's head.
Liatris considers blowing her horn to summon Flaming Fist reinforcements but realizes the sound might not carry far enough. Instead, she commands the pirates to surrender. They look at her with undisguised scorn. Her words do little to dissuade them from their course of action. Liatris prepares to fling her dagger at them at the first sign of violence.
Threnody charges Dead-Eye, jumping into the air at the last second, and bringing her spear down toward the pirate's one good eye. The attack hits but doesn't quite manage to gouge out the pirate's eye. It leaves a deep gash across the brow though, and he howls with pain and hatred.
"You'll pay for that!" he screams.
Wendyl casts a psychic spell toward Dead-Eye but immediately starts apologizing. Dead-Eye clutches his head in pain as the spell stabs into his mind (4 psychic damage).
Dead-Eye is undeterred from his assault on the party. In fact, his rage only seems to fuel him even more. He glares up at Samosh.
"Get out of my way! Let me have the wench!" he snarls. He attempts to Shove Samosh out of the way. Samosh, make an Athletics or Acrobatics check to avoid being pushed five feet backwards. Dead-Eye rolled a 20.
Meanwhile Bees, watching this play out, takes the opportunity to shoot Dead-Eye. The arrow lodges firmly in the pirate's backside, and he howls again.
I'm not sure why everyone's character portraits aren't showing up on their tokens. I might switch back to Owlbear Rodeo for maps. They have better token overlays and stuff anyway, haha.
Round 2
Dead-Eye is able to overpower Samosh and pushes him backwards five feet. The pirate captain then rushes forward while remaining in melee range of Samosh. He passes by Threnody, and she may take an attack of opportunity against him.
That ends Dead-Eye's turn, and Bees' 2nd round turn was resolved earlier so now it's the pirate crew's turns.
Pirate E didn't like Liatris' attempt to intimidate them so he takes a shot at her, but he misses wildly.
Pirate A moves up the stairs now that Samosh has been pushed out of the way, and he goes for Threnody: 19 to hit for 4 slashing damage.
Pirate G also takes aim at Liatris: 22 to hit for 4 piercing damage.
Pirate D takes aim at Tarina: 14 to hit for 4 piercing damage.
Pirate C charges up the stairs and slashes at Samosh with his scimitar: 14 to hit, miss!
Pirate F takes aim at Tarina: 21 to hit for 7 piercing damage.
Pirate B follows his comrade up the stairs but attacks Threnody with his scimitar: 20 to hit for 7 damage.
Tarina is badly wounded by the crossbow bolts, and she slumps the ground, bleeding. Death Save: 15, success!

On his turn, Kaster shudders from all the violence going on around him but knows he must act... He scrambles over to where Tarina has fallen and quickly looks her over. She's down but not out, that is at least a relief. Well... Kind of. Truth be told he doesn't really think he's that fond of the woman and if not for her they wouldn't all be in this mess. Still, the group does seem to have decided to work with her so Kaster supposes that means that her death would be... bad? First he reaches for a Healer's Kit with which to stabilize her but curses under his breath - They're all with Ralph. Downstairs. That won't work...
Sighing, Kaster shakes his head to clear his head and then takes a moment to say a short, concise prayer above her body and then reach out and mimic making a holy sign upon her forehead with his pointer finger... In doing so he casts Spare the Dying and stabilizes the woman.
"She's dead!" he cries out in horror. Faked but partly real. She's not but all this violence does have him quite freaked out. "You happy now? Mission accomplished! You killed the woman, now begone! The whole lot of you! You've done what you come to do...." He doesn't really think it'll work but it is worth a shot?
Deception: 9
Whether they leave or not, Kaster wasn't ready to waste one of his real spells on saving her yet. Not while his own... teammates? Is he really calling them that now? Not while his current compatriots are still in so much danger themselves.
I don't think it took him much movement to get to Tarina but he doesn't have much movement to begin with. Still, he feels right there at the banister may not be the best place for her so he does his best to drag her body , carefully, a bit Southeast (assuming top of map as north) to try to make sure anyone downstairs cannot take potshots at her.
While Dead-Eye bruises his way past Samosh, Threnody pivots swiftly, her eyes locked on the leader's exposed flank. She slashes diagonally upwards, targeting the soft tissue below the killer's jaw. The slash lands with surgical precision - crimson fans out from a gash in his throat, splattering the walls of the Elfsong Tavern.
Threnody redirects the momentum of the first strike, and arcs her polearm around to stab at one of the pirates as they barrel onto the first floor. She grunts as a pair of scimitars cleave past her shield and strike her shoulder and torso. Woozy and barely standing, her second attack isn't as precise, but still causes a healthy portion of flesh and gristle to be gouged out of one of the advancing pirates' legs in retaliation.
Her breath comes raggedly as her vision begins to swim...

Liatris let out a sharp hiss and dropped her dagger when the bolt struck her. But just as quickly as showed pain did her expression harden while she tried to swiftly analyze the scene and consider her next move. The next option. None were good. Between their contact lying "dead" on the ground, the sheer numbers, and Therondy soon to join her by the look of her state, Liatris couldn't help but darkly mutter under breath. Nevertheless, she drew forth a peculiarly shaped -- almost rectangular vial.
"That is quite enough."She said as she lobbed the vial, seeming to aim for the one pirate, only for a symbol etched in its surface to light up and cause it shatter midair, slathering the Dead-Eye and one of his men in caustic slime should either proved too slow to move. "You're quarry is dead or as good as it. Insist on further violence, and your men will soon join her."She states as she strode around the table towards the stairway, before then gesturing back to Tarina and nudging with her foot whatever limb(if any) of Tarina's that happened to be sticking out past the table.
Action: Cast (Cantrip)Acid Splash on Dead Eye and Pirate B. Both need to make Dex Save(DC 13) or take 6 Acid Damage.

Round 2 Cont.
Kaster creeps over to the wounded and dying Tarina and is able to stabilize her enough so that she'll survive. She will wake up and gain 1 HP in 4 hours without further intervention.
Kaster also tries to deceive the pirates that Tarina is no longer a problem, but Dead-Eye just spits in his direction.
Threnody inflicts a deep wound in Dead-Eye's jaw with her spear followed by another severe injury to one of his goons.
Samosh does his best to beat up Dead-Eye but somehow the pirate manages to block his attacks.
Liatris lobs a vial of acid toward Dead-Eye. Dead-Eye manages to sidestep just in time but his goon gets a face full of acid, screams loudly, and then slumps to the floor, quite dead (Pirate B).
Dead-Eye just sneers at Liatris. "We outnumber you! Hand over the wench or I'll make your death slow and painful!" To illustrate his point, the pirate captain turns back to Samosh and slashes at him with his scimitar twice: 9 to hit for a miss and 17 to hit for 4 slashing damage (Round 3 Action).
Bees sees the pirates flooding up the staircase and begins to despair as Samosh's attempt to block them fails. However, the momentary feeling passes and is replaced with anger as the pirate captain threatens to torture the party. Bees remains quiet, trying not to draw attention to himself, while loosing a second arrow at the leader.
Bees lets loose another arrow at Dead-Eye, and it strikes true. The pirate captain is looking pretty bad now, blood dripping from several wounds. Seeing their leader taking a beating, the pirate goons do their best to try and stop the party.
Alarmed by the chaos, Wendyl turns and runs toward one of the side rooms, closing the door behind him. You hear the snap of the lock as it engages.
Pirates E, D, F & G lose line of sight of everyone on the second floor so they rush toward the stairs, forming a pirate conga line as they try to all get up at the same time. Pirate E makes it the furthest, but he still can't get a good line of sight on any of the party.
Pirate A takes a swing at Threnody but misses wildly: 4 to hit, miss!
Pirate C attacks Samosh with his scimitar: 20 to hit, 4 slashing damage. (His position is incorrect on the map above. He didn't move.)
"Oh no!" Kaster exclaims, much more loudly than he would have intended, if he had intended to exclaim at all. But as with many an exclamation, it's more drawn out than purposely pushed, and thus there was no intention of loudness at all as the exclamation hadn't, in fact, been intended in the least. Still and all, Samosh was down! The dreadful woman going down was bothersome, in it's way, but, may the gods in their dens forgive him, Kaster didn't really care all that much. She didn't seem like a good person at all, at all. Samosh, however...
Well, honestly, Kaster still hadn't fully decided on Samosh but he was one of the better of those whom Kaster had been forced to throw his lot in with so it was a rather disturbing sight to see Samosh fall. Disturbing enough for Kaster to exclaim about it, but that point has already been addressed. Point is, Samosh had fallen and Kaster did not approve. Not at all, at all. Kaster felt he had to do something about it... But what? He could pray over them and ensure they didn't succumb to their injuries as he had for Tarina but was that enough? Surely not. She was just some trouble while Samosh was... well, he supposed, part of the team. Besides, he'd have to get up close to them... And that would mean getting up close to the one-eyed Pirate too and that... Well surely that was out of the question. For sure, for sure... For sure?
Some good old religion may be the thing here. Some strong words of inspiration and encouragement... From across the room. It'd be just the thing to get Samosh back up to his feet... It wouldn't head the man right up much, surely, but it was the least Kaster could do... But was the least good enough?
Kaster sighed and hemmed and hawed... but finally Kaster was forced to say "Screw it!" Only it wasn't "Screw" that Kaster had said but he believed the Gods would forgive him. With an audible swallow, more of a gulp really, Kaster launched himself into (very reluctant) action!
Dashing over to Samosh's side, despite it meaning all but brushing past Dead-Eye, Kaster knelt besides his fallen comrade and cast Cure Wounds upon him, praying to all the Gods of healing that they lend their power and reach out through Kaster to raise Samosh before it was too late...
[spell]Cure Wound[/spell[ to Samosh for 9 HP
(I envision Kaster squeezing in North of Dead-Eye so that he's basically against the northern door there, alongside both Dead-Eye and Samosh... I *think* Kaster has the movement to get there...)
The battle was going poorly. Threnody's companions were fleeing in blanch-faced terror, or else collapsing like puppets whose strings were cut. Her head ached from the pounding in her temples, and blood streamed profusely from the wounds she'd sustained in the first wave of the pirates' attack. Everywhere the black-cloaked tiefling looked, there was the din of conflict - steel clashing upon steel, yowls of pain and rage. She was vaguely aware of boots hammering across floorboards - more of Cadavrus' crew were about to join the fray. The tide had turned, and it was drowning them.
Desperation etched itself into every line of Threnody's face as she stumbled forward, wobbly-kneed. Her brow was slick with perspiration, hair matted to her forehead as her fingers gripped the shaft of her spear, but she knew that weapon alone wouldn't be enough. There was no way they'd survive this battle... not without reinforcements.
Her voice suddenly boomed through the tavern, amplified by Thaumaturgy, crisp and commanding. "Men and women of the Elfsong Tavern! Tired of never having enough coin? Sick of rising beer prices? NEW BOUNTY! First floor. Five gold for anyone who brings me Dead-Eye Cadavrus' head, one gold for any of the rotten sea-dogs slavering after him."
Samosh shouts, "Ouch! that was very unfriendly!" He tries to unload some justice on the man in front of him!

Round 3 Continued
