"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
"Alas, my companions' are a sensible lot," Illmirt said with a sad shake of the head but a wide smile on his face. "Tomorrow night then, we shall share tales of love and loss, hope and horror, heroes and hell spawn! Frederik, sleep well my little friend. We will greet you with the rising sun." He gave Frederik another bit of chicken and gently stroked the soft feathers on top of his head.
Crisaryn found it odd how, after her words, the rest of the group all announced their intention to go to their rest and so suddenly vanished. She watched as Illmirth sat with Frederik while waiting for Danika's response.
Each of the companions find a small room with wardrobe, small table with jug of water for washing for those who haven't discovered the Bathhouse and a single bed smelling of fresh linen and lavender. A colourful quilt laid over the top of it.
Frederik rubs his head against Illmirths fingers then hops away, see dawn here in raven loft above the stables, you find? I ready for war, talon sheath sharp. He spreads his wings as Danika opened the door for him, hushing him out with her apron.
Indira placed Hujj on her shoulder then grasped Rictavio by the arm and tugged him after her, Now before you sink deeper into your cups.
As the companions head for bed the Tavern empties of customers.
Crisaryn had thanked Danika for the information and the wonderful hospitality. She is then quickly off to bed. With thetwilight she is up, briefly washing up in her room. She heads out in search of a simple breakfast, eager to find the others and get moving. she would liketo be on the road once the gates are open.
6 bells, Anna the waitress, brings over a plate full of ham and eggs with fresh bread still warm from the oven and salted butter, with a large pot of aromatic tea. Danika warned me that you'd be after an early breakfast, here tuck in. The chapel opens at 7 bells for morning service if you want to go, just follow the crowd headed down the main street. If you don't like the ham rind give it to a raven, they'll thank you for it. With that she turns away.
You can hear the ravens in the loft over the stables, they seem to be quite vocal this morning.
Sitting down, Crisaryn does dish up some eggs, takes a piece of ham, and a small piece of bread. She also pours herself a generous cup of tea. She doesn't eat too quickly, but tries to efficiently clear her plate as she waits for everyone to turn up. "I thank you Anna. Let's hope all my companions are ready to go as well."
Illmirth felt the faintness hint of first light long before light was visible to most eyes. He woke quickly, but moved slowly. He spent many minutes stretching, warming his muscles, ensuring that his body would respond quickly when called upon. Soon he was dressed, opting for dark, tight fitting clothing. He wore nothing that could interfere with his freedom of movement or be grabbed by an enemy. Speed and cunning would keep him alive, not armor and physical might.
He made his way downstairs, drawn by the scent of a fresh, hot breakfast. He greeted his companions and Anna with a smile. "Everything smells delicious! My thanks, Anna. I know you woke early to see that we were well fed. Your kindness does not go unnoticed." He slipped a gold coin from his pouch and placed it in her hand.
Illmirth ate his fill, picking the leaner bits of meat and saving the fatty bits and trimmings for the ravens. He intended to accompany Lorelei to the dawn service. He wasn't particularly religious, but he supported her faith. He also secretly thought that having as many gods smiling on him as possible may keep him alive today.

Anna stammered she had never had a tip like that before. She bit it, gold, then she tucked it away in her pocket. Thank you sir, you are most kind. Porridge will be available soon, would you like some with cream or salt?
Indira opened the tavern door with Hujj on her shoulder. Something was funny about his talons, they kept flickering, one moment normal, then elongated and silver. Hujj is ready when you are. Frederik will join you Ilmirth just remember to collect him from the raven loft. We cast disguise spells on the birds they'll look just like normal ravens. Just tell them what you want them to do.
The young blonde priestess smiles as she sees the nice room and the bed with the colourful quilt. She would quickly fall into a restful sleep of the just, awakening to the cock crow at dawn, quickly and efficiently washing up, getting dressed and readying herself for another day of adventures. Downstairs she would join in at breakfast, enjoying the ham, eggs, fresh bread, salted butter and tea in silence with the others.
"If you think they can peek inside the windmill without raising suspicion that would be my suggestion at least." Lorelei says to Indira with an appreciative smile as she finishes up her breakfast. "I suggest we leave for the mill as soon as morning services at the chapel are over." She adds, ready to do just that at 7 bells. While waiting she looks around the table, trying to make sure the others were all ready too, giving Crisaryn a slightly concerned look. "Did you sleep well? Nothing to suggest you were visited by the night hags?" She assk a bit quietly.
No worry I'll encourage Hujj to be careful. Illmirth should do the same for Frederik, they are becoming difficult to part. They can both listen to Illmirth or yourself. Depends who is nearest to them.
Vaelar had risen early and stepped outside the tavern to find a quiet place to prepare himself for the day ahead. When the others exit, perhaps on their way to the church service, Vaelar can be seen maintaining the keen edges of his blade. One sword has already been tended to and the other, his curved scimitar, is lying across his lap while he runs a whetstone along the edge.
Seeing the others he gives them a nod in greeting, "I'll be at the gates when your service is finished."
Alerya joins Vaelar, sitting nearby. She admires his dedication to keeping edges sharp and clean. A poorly cared for weapon can fail you when you need it most. Which reminds her also make sure her pike is sharp and crossbow is in good working order.
Today will be a good day for they plan to vanquish an evil.

As the party begins to gather outside Illmirth slips off to the raven loft. He calls to Frederik, giving him the choicest bits of meat and spreading the rest out to the other ravens. "Come little friend, our companions gather briefly before the dawn service. I would offer some protection to my friends, Frederik and Hujj included." He motions to his shoulder, inviting Frederik to hitch a free ride. He then heads back outside of the inn, trying to catch everyone together before the briefly seperate.
"Come, gather friends. Today we face a foe most foul. I would perform for you, to bolster your health in battle." Illmirth calls to Hujj, inviting him to come near. As the group paced about, wondering what manner of shenanigans the bard was up to now he began to strum his lute. He did not sing. He did not dance. He played a song, its melody lifting the spirits and fortifying the body.
When the last note faded he smiled at his friends. Turning to the raven friends he said, "Little friends, can you fly ahead for us? We must attend to a few things before the gate opens, but the gate matters not to you. Would you fly to the windmill and then return to us? I would know if any perils await us on the road."
Before the party leaves Vallaki Illmirth stops by the inn for a small pouch of pork trimmings.

A glow surrounds the companions and Frederik then fades gently as they receive some magical extra HP.
Indira launches Hujj into the sky and he was quickly followed by Frederik and 5 normal ravens. You see the same glitter on the talons of Frederik phasing in and out. The other ravens were normal and a good way to hide.

Those of the party who wished to attend Morning Blessing watched as townsfolk began to pass by, then walked after them. Perhaps Father Lucien could help them.
This slouching, centuries-old stone church has a bulging steeple in the back and walls lined with cracked, stained glass windows depicting pious saints. A fence of wrought iron encloses a garden of gravestones next to the church. A thin mist creeps among the graves.
At the gate to the chapel you see the words St. Andrals carved into the gatepost. The bell started tolling, calling the last of the faithful.
Father Lucian in full ceremonial robes of Lathander stood at the altar, chanting the canticle of the sun. As the twilight fled the sun, or what passes for sun in Barovia, Lucien raises his hands in blessing and the church was filled with the golden light of the sun. The bells rang out continuously for the next few minutes. Morning blessing was over.
He moved towards the companions and held out his hand, How can I help you?
