Betta left his side for a moment and called a young village boy over. Graham take a message to the undertaker, we have need of him.Be fast about it! She tips him with a copper piece.
She turned back inside and returned to Murdock. Knowing that he couldn't be healed Betta gestures the symbol of the Morning Lord over him and light burst in a golden glow, it engulfed his body in radiance. She put his sword within his hands, sitting lightly on his chest. His face shifted to relax with a small smile, his eyes open but not focused. He took one more deep breath and then all was silent, he had passed.
Betta leaned forward and gently closed his eyes. We'll bury him in the graveyard tomorrow, tonight he will lay here in his coffin for all comers to pay their respect.
Graham returned with the undertaker in tow, a tall skinny man of much strength. His wife and men came with them carrying a large coffin. He entered the chapel and squeezed into the full bedroom.
My wife Mairee will clean the corpse ready for his resting place. Do you have holy water to clean his body with?
Yes, here is a full bottle it should do it. Best to keep the undead away. The church will pay for his coffin, he'll be buried here in the churchyard tomorrow morning by preference just after dawn prayers. He was a Paladin of the Morninglord and served well, prepare the mausoleum for clerics of this chapel. Put him to rest in his coffin in armour and with his sword. The chapel will remain open so that people can pay their respects.
She gently takes a small red gemstone amulet from him and holds it out to Lorelei, you should give this back to the Vistani. He'll wear his Talisman of the Morning Lord in death.
I will be away from the chapel for 1 bell, I'm going to tell Ravenkind that a friend of theirs has passed. Do any of you wish to visit the circle with me?
Speaking to Lorelei earlier as they entered the church, Crisaryn replies, "I will certainly try to keep up all the warmth and kindness then." She tries to look serious, but there is the tiniest bit of a smirk on her lips.
She had stood by and watched as the preparations for Murdock. When Mairee mentions visiting the Ravenkind circle, she nods her head. Quietly she says, "I would go."
The young priestess wept quietly for the old paladin as Betta closed his eyes. She accepts the small red gemstone amulet and promises to return it to the Vistani. "I too would go." She says somberly as Betta declares her intent to visit the circle of Ravenkind.
Illmirth remained nearby but silent. Murdock passed peacefully, the old paladin called home by the Morning Lord. Little more could be done here, the faithful would prepare the body. With a solemn bow, Illmirth bid his final farewell.
"I too shall go " he said to Betta.

She smiles all around, a sad smile that has known hardships and lived to tell the tale, too many friends lost on campaigns.
The stone circle was just outside of town, on a small hillock overlooking Barovia village. It aligned with the stars on midsummers day. It was old and held it's power in reserve, a Temple of Mother Night she who is also called the Raven Queen by her followers. It had no cleric, just worshipers, Elder Elsa led the ceremonies here. Children were brought here to give thanks for safe births, before naming in the house of the Morning Lord.
Betta limped along using her walking stick, slightly slowing down the party.
Elder Elsa a spry old midwife caught up with them. Need to talk to the ravens? Don't worry they'll be there. Did you bring any food for them? No. I've got some pork rinds that will do for both of us. Just don't let them snatch any, they have bad eating manners. Look for the red eyed raven he is the fastest messenger.
Betta said Thank you and took a handful of rinds from her. She held out her hands to the party so that everyone had a few tidbits for them. They walked into the middle of the circle and waited.
The young blonde priestess gratefully accepts the offerings for the ravens and follows Betta into the circle, looking to the sky for the conspiracy to appear.
It began slowly, a flight of crows cawing as they overflew you. Soon afterwards the first raven arrives, and alights on one of the stones. It watches you gravely then begins to call phruck in a loud voice. Soon others arrive, and more until each stone has become a perch and each tree is covered in midnight black wings. In amongst these real ravens you make out a solo bird with red eyes and another bird covered in moving magical script.
Betta steps forward and holds out a piece of rind, the red eyed raven fixates on it and taps its beak on the stone. Hello Ravenkin we need to ask a boon of you. The paladin Murdock is dead, we believe that Rhianne needs to know. Can you take a message? Or perhaps assign another to reach her Conspiracy?
The red eyed raven flew down to Bettas arm careful not to let his talons pierce fabric or skin. He delicately takes the rind and bites at it, his eyes rolling in pleasure. Food good!
The bird covered in magical markings flew down from a branch above to the ground then hopped towards Illmirth, tapping on his boots. Mine? I take message.
At that sign all the ravens descended to the floor or available arms for their treat. Elder Elsa coos at them as if they were favourite children.
Illmirth offers a bit of pork rind to the raven with arcane markings. "Yes, little one, this is yours. You have our thanks for carrying our message," he adds.

The raven huffed and spread out his wings to appear as large as possible, you notice that his talons are sheathed in metal, silver?
Name is Hujj, I sentinel raven, I help my person. Warlock Indira. She waits for me in Vallaki. Easy to take message. Will give to Frederik, he will find Rhianne.
Illmirth smiles and says, "Well met, Hujj. I am illmirth, I have met your friend Frederik and will be pleased to see him again. If I meet your person I shall tell them that you are an excellent help and deserve many treats." He then offers Hujj what remains of the pork rind he was given.

Crisaryn had also thanked Elder Elsa when she provided the morsels to give the ravens. She then watched as the ravens gradually fly into the place, offering the bits of pork rinds she held to any stragglers.
She then listens to the conversation with Hujj. Seems like quite the convenient way to get a message out.
"There are many Ravenkind in Vallaki?" she mutters to whoever might be near. "Seems like ravens are everywhere. A good thing for us it seems."
The young blonde priestess too offers her bit of pork rind to a raven as she listens to Illmirth and Hujj talking. It was promising having allies awaiting them in Vallaki.
Vaelar holds his arm out, setting bits of pork along it for any interested ravens to come and feast while perched on his arms. He stands very still as they do, not wishing to disturb them, but he watches quietly. It reminds him of a lighter days when he wandered the woods with his companions, lively freely alongside the forest's animals. He'd trained a hawk once, but it was long gone.
"Good birds," he complimented the corvids as they ate while he listened to the conversation with Hujj.
Hujj phrucked at Illmirth then spread his wings and headed off for Vallaki.
Betta sighed in relief, she'd half hoped that Frederik would have been here, but the large sentinel raven Hujj seemed able enough. She fed the last of her rinds to the bird sitting on her forearm.
Elder Elsa spread her rinds over the floor and the ravens dived for them. She laughed at their antics. I know that you came through the mists, but do you take part in sin eating? If so I'll make some extra honeycakes and place them on the bottom lid of the coffin. We have much to celebrate tonight, Lutz and his wife have just had a baby, she was shown to the ravens early this morning. We need a naming at the chapel as well Betta.
"We have taken part of sin eating ceremonies with the Vistsni and for the Burgomeister. Although we are not from Barovia, it pleases me to learn and practice your customs."
