Alerya absolutely bristles with aggravation when she witnesses the abduction of the child, "You will release that child and any others you have at once!" she shouts.
"If there is a fee to pay we will pay it, but you will let them go!"
She then glares at the 'parents' how could anyone do such a thing to family?! she thinks.

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Watching the strange exchange in silence, Crisaryn heads silently towards the house and the hunch-backed woman. She lets the others approach, herself standing closer to the house itself. She readies Sorcerous Burst so that it can be released immediately upon the woman doing anything remotely aggressive.
Vaelar is appalled but sadly not surprised by the family's trade and the old woman's acceptance. He has seen the worst of mankind and thinks a dark place like Barovia must have its fair share and more.
He steps forward to support his companions, his hands ready to pull his blades or his bow, equally deft with all. He stays silent but ready, waiting to see the woman's response.
"We will keep looking, I promise you."The young blonde priestess says tucking away the peculiar doll and taking Mary's hands in hers to reassure her of her sincerity. "Can you describe her the best you can, it will be helpful when we ask around for her."
(Passive Perception). Vaeler looks closely at the old woman, her skin is blue, her long hair a dark black, she has small horns badly hidden under her hood. There is a sense of magic in the air. He recognises her as a Night Hag.
She initially looks greedily at Illmirth, Dream Pie? Just for you, come try my wares, just a gold piece. You'll be happier than ever before. Smell the meat and mushroom filling! You have to wonder where the meat came from. How many other children have been bartered in this manner?
She shies back from Alerya, He's mine he'll help make the pies, a bit young for an apprentice but there's plenty of cleaning to be done until he is ready. Javan traded, 6 pies, he's mine now.
Crisaryn feels a shiver down her neck.
The boy screams at you Help me! Rubbing his wrists frantically against the bars hoping to release the knots.
His family slams the door, a woman crying can be heard, then the sound of a slap. No-one in the family was going to intervene.
"A hag," Vaelar hisses to his companions in a voice that echoes with a harsh whisper.
"You'll leave the child here," Vaelar demands as he steps forward, a hand moving meaningfully to the hilt of his shortsword. He does it in preparation as much as to send a message to the hah.
"With respect madam," Illmirth says with a bow, "I would trade you the gold for the six you exchanged for the child, and purchase one more. I expect that this is the best offer you will receive, my companions are 'uncomfortable' with the current situation. I do beg you consider my offer."
Illmirth pulls out 15 gold pieces. He holds them out in an open hand so she can see them.

“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
"Thank you Mary, I will return this to you when I get back."The young blonde priestess says with a final reassuring smile before returing to her waiting companions.
The word 'hag' is sufficient for Crisaryn to release her spell. The energy of her Sorcerous Burst is realized as cracking lightning that streaks towards the concealed hag.
The Night Hag screeches as the Sorcerous burst hits around her it's lightning darkening the ground but not harming her.
I should teach you manners young sorceress, but I am late, more pies to sell. Sleep well! At that she points at Crisaryn,
Nothing seemed to happen apart from a blue glow surrounded her for a moment then dissipates.
The night hag reaches under the cart and pulls the young boy out of the cage, No matter his parents will give him back to me next time. I shall not be as generous when we meet again! With that she opens a portal to the ethereal plane and wheels the cart through it calling out Dream Pies as she did.
You hear the sound of the seven year old crying Don't let her take me, please. Talk to the blacksmith, I could apprentice to him, I'm strong the boy sobs.
Illmirth rushes straight away to the crying child. "Easy child, all will be well. You are safe now," he says. "We will not let her take you." Illmirth opens his arms to the boy, stopping a few feet away, as he would with a frightened or wounded animal.
When the child calms, he turns a glance at his companions. "Festivities can wait," he said. More notably, this was the first time EVER that the bard said those words in that order. "I should like to speak with his parents and examine one of these soul cakes."

“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
The boy threw himself at Illmirth, large tears rolling down his face. They eat them and then sleep for days with a smile on their faces. You can't even talk to them. All that matters is the pies and where they'll get the money from to afford them. The Burgomeister will help, he must need a someone to run the bellows at his forge. Please ask him to take me in. All I'm worth here is 6 pies! He sobs into Illmirths shoulder. I'm Lucian.
There is no answer from within the house. The lights go out.
The blacksmith will be at the Harvest Festival, you could talk to him there.
Betta steps back into the road and find the adventurers clustered around a young boy crying. The boy had been at the chapel this morning all by himself, she'd given him a talisman of the Morning Lord.
What happened to Lucian? She says as she limps towards them.
"Let's get him to the church. We can explain in the way."Illmirth holds the boys hand, humming a soft, happy tune. "Do you like music, Lucian?" he asks the child. "I like music very much. If you like, I can teach you," he says showing Lucian his lute. "Watch, you hold it like this. Place your fingers here, and strum the strings," he says, demonstrating a rudimentary chord. "You don't need a fancy instrument though. You can make music with anything!" the bard happily talks about percussion, and how the beat holds a song together. He tries to keep the childs focus while the party fills in Bella and Lorelei about the situation.

“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
This Night Hag did she curse anyone? They normally cast by pointing. She looks anxiously around the adventurers. We'd better let the Burgomeister know that hags have been seen touting their wares here.
Crisaryn is a bit perplexed by the blue glow for a moment, but then turns towards the house the boy had come from. Still clearly agitated, she pounds on the door even as the lights go out. "The family should be held to account! No matter what the creature may be up to, they should have protected the boy!"
"The hag did not seem pleased when Crisaryn's lightening singed her socks. Crisaryn, you lit up a bit when she pointed in your direction. Bella, can you tell us more of the hag's curse and how it is undone?"

“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
The young blonde priestess gives Crisaryn a worried look as she understands what had transpired. "You are right Crisaryn, they should have protected the boy..." She says softly as she comes up behind the sorceress. "...but all are not as strong willed as you, and I can only assume they succumbed to the temptations of the hags cursed pies." She says, laying a calming and reassuring hand on the other's arm. "Let's focus on helping the boy now, perhaps when we have lifted the curse on this land his parents will be able to take responsibility for what they have done." She suggests. "What did the hag say to you exactly?" She adds after a moment with a concerned look, not wanting to worry the sorceress but knowing hags and their curses was not to be take lightly.
She smiles warmly over at Illmirth who had stepped in to care for the boy. The drow was truly nothing like the drow of the stories she had heard.
