That is no way to live. So you have restricted yourself to rural life to avoid them?
Terna and I as children found that we can't eat too much normal food. I can at least eat pie crust and the barely cooked blood within. Terna however is like you, she needs real blood to thrive. The blood sausages here are best served raw, remember to specify that to the inns where you stay. It is not uncommon to have well aged sausage it depends on your tastes. Just in case, later you will taste warm blood pie with us?
There is going to be a gather of the clans tonight, and wandering around the different fires. You are welcome to stay at our fire to enjoy the music and food that you can eat.
"Thank you,"Vaelar says with an earnest, deep now of his head. He has not felt so genuinely welcomed in a very long time.
"This is good," he says after a mouthful of the blood sausage, finally starting to feel properly sated.
"I can eat a little of their food. I have forced myself to learn how as it avoids too many questions. But I will be glad to join your at your fire to eat properly again."
Good we are normally busy at the fire frying blood sausage to order. It's a good smell. We attract the elders wishing to eat something that they grew up with. Fewer people make sausage any more amongst the Vistani. Do you want some blood in a goblet? We have more than enough for blood sausage.
Illmirth smiles at the raven, "All yours, little friend," he says.
When the raven has finished its meal Illmirth joins the Vistani, helping to move chairs, fetch firewood, anything he can find to lend a hand with preparations. If everything is under control, he moves to the group of children listening to stories. He catches Stanimir's eye and flashes him a gesture as if he were casting a spell. As the man speaks, Illmirth adds sound effects with minor illusion.

The children surrounding Stanimir gasp in delight as a second set of illusions join those that they are viewing. Stanimir smiles as Illmirth supplies sound effects to go with his pictures.
Crisaryn nods to Annaletta once she arrives wherethe woman is at work. "Of course I can do that." She pulls as best she can, glancing over to Lorelei to see if she is really willing to help as well. She's not familiar with the process, but does not mind dying as directed.
The young blonde priestess is really willing to help as well, doing her best to hold on as instructed. She was by no means a chef but she had been on the road for a few years now and helped out with preparing food in all kinds of places as her mentor discussed affairs. She now realizes that even now it is the women that prepare the food while the men fraternizes, but she just shakes her head, smiles and keeps helping out as she can.
Crisaryn gives Lorelei the briefest of smiles, glad to see the cleric was really willing to jump in to help. To Annaletta she says, "I assume you will have to skin the boar as well, then? We can stay and help. It seems a shame there aren't more hands to help you. Will you be joining in the festivities later on this evening?"
Many hands made light work and they soon skinned the deer. The horns were taken to the stick maker by one of the children.
Hopefully the twins will skin the boar and they have Vaelar to help. It will be a gather tonight before the clans go back to their winter quarters spread around Barovia. Plenty of young folk jumping the fire for handfasting, and plenty of trade amongst ourselves. As usual that means a celebration. I'll be dancing with the others. You came at the right time. She says. Here take the entrails over to the side of the twins Vardo please
The red eyed raven screeched and flew down over the entrails protectively, batting his wings to cover as much as possible, Mine! he calls. Then there is the sound of caws and more ravens appeared, they didn't have red eyes.
Annaletta shooed the Ravens away, You can have them in a minute. We are almost done. The Raven hopped along the ground keeping an eye on his prize until they reached the side of the Vardo. Vaelar and Ysabet were sitting outside watching them.
"Yes please,"Vaelar says quickly to the offered goblet of blood. The sausage is very good, but for him little compares to the taste of straight blood running down his throat. He watches his new companions approach, mindful of making painting too dark and gory an image.
Ysabet watched the Ravens with amusement as the entrails were dropped near her Vardo. Gren you'll eat so much you'll roll around like a ball! Go on then and invite your friends to supper as well.
The Ravens led by Gren fall upon the heap of warm intestines, shredding with beak and claw. Gren ensured that they all had a share.
She turned her attention back to Vaelar. So you are like Terna, warm blood is better yes, just like when you catch an animal. Blood sausage is a good second. If you like warm blood you can share a blood pie with me, the blood is served at a warm temperature, though I think going by your preferences that it will be a weak third.
Do you know how to scorch wild boar hair? We need to make the skin smooth for crackling on the spit. She took a small iron from Terna and put it to the side of their small fire, waiting for the iron to glow.
The evening drew in, the sky clear and blue, at least two bells before sunset.
Ireena and Ismark sit with Stanimir, they unlike your adventuring party have not been included in the guest rights offered by Madam Eva. The children toddle off to find parents and food, leaving the adults alone.
Ireena turns to Stanimir and asks What do you think I can do to avoid Strahd?
Stanimir strokes his beard, Maybe he will tire of you if you are not so near. Travel on to Vallaki when you are ready. The town resists Strahd, they may hide you. Also you'll find Ravenkind there and they openly fight the devil.
We'll need our things, sell the house or put it up for sale, then we can leave. Will the adventurers wait for us? Ireena said
That will be up to them. They have hearth rights at all Vistani camps. We will soon move to winter quarters. For us that is here with Madam Eva after a summer of trading. But come enjoy a last night of autumn revelry.
Illmirth's ears perk up when he hears mention of Vallaki. As the group already had one reason to go that direction, he suspected that they would agree to accompany Ireena and Ismark. "I cannot speak for all, but I would offer aid in your travels," he says.

"Well, I hope then we will see you this evening," Crisaryn had said to Annaletta. "I hope we were able to help you out at least a little bit." She then motioned to Lorelei. "Let's go take these," she says, as she had picked up the entrails to take to the twins. She had arrived just in time to catch a few of the words about 'warm blood' and the 'warm blood pie'. She wasn't sure she wanted to ask more about those.
She watched a bit surprised as the raven, named Gren evidently, greedily tore into the intestines, along with the other birds flocking to the feast. She says to the woman, "Annaletta asked us to bring these over?" She then watches their work in preparing the boar. "Do you then both hunt the beasts and then prepare them to eat as well?" she asks. "And I'm not sure we met before. I am Crisaryn."
Vaelar offers a polite nod of greeting to Crisaryn when she joins them. With some concern, he wonders how much she overheard. And how much it would disturb her. Perhaps she would take it in her stride as the vistani do.
"It's been a long time since I cooked or prepared a meal," he admits to Ysabet, "but I used to prepare the game for our hunting party. I can help to scorch the hair."
I don't think we introduced ourselves, I'm Ysabet and this is my sister Terna she says turning towards the open door of the vardo. The fat Raven is Gren, she teases as he eats his fill of intestines.
Terna moved towards the fire and placed the wild boar onto a tripod. It was now time to scorch the hair off with their irons. Vaelar quite happily took an iron and started to clear the hair.
She gestures at Crisaryn can you turn the boar as we scorch it?she asks
Would you like to taste a Vistani specialty later? We have blood pie and blood sausage, most people eat it hot, but some like us eat raw sausage. She smiles at Crisaryn so as not to panic her over blood eating.
As for hunting we provide for the clan and often hunt with Viktor. We take the blood for making sausage or pie.
We'll set this up in the fire pit attended by Annaletta. Here let me cut the skin for scratchings as it roasts.
Ireena leant over and took Illmirths arm, a dazzling smile on her face. I am truly grateful. I will ask the others as well, perhaps they still have business in the village, we only need a day for selling the house, the next Burgomeister will want it.
But for now we celebrate autumns end, nearly all the harvests are done. There is only the wine harvest left, it will be busy in Vallaki. She sighs looking forward to leaving.
Crisaryn nods to Terna. "Of course."She moves towards the fire, taking hold of the spit to turn the boar as needed. She smiles politely as she speaks of the Vistani specialties. "I would of course try it. Though not raw myself." She grins, trying to make a slight joke of it. She really doesn't care what other's preference might be.
"Wine harvest in Vallaki, you say?" Illmirth says with grin. "If I must, I will charm the lot of them to get us there with haste!" Illmirth made no attempt to say this with a straight face, and laugh heartily as the words leave his mouth.
"That does it, I now must compose a song to honor the fruit of the vine! Oh, meager, unassuming grape... how you age with such divine grace and intent," he muses, strumming his lute softly. He begins to hum a soft tune, searching for the melody to accompany the rapidly forming lyrics in his mind.
