The landing upon which Casmenos, Marrow, and Cassyt (and anybody who follows) are standing is about 20 feet above the floor. The rickety stairs wind around the outside of the room, going all the way to the bottom.
"If someone has rope, I can hold this end while the rest of you climb down. Then I'll risk the stairs and if things go poorly, I can protect myself from a fall."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Marrow looks curiously at the statue. A scroll, a quill, a skull and... nothing?Tumal, can I... err.. borrow you for a moment?
Marrow investigates the statue generally, but specifically whether it appears there was something in the fourth hand that has been removed: Investigation 6 with Guidance 3 from Tumal.
Marrow shrugs to Tumal, Thanks. I don't see anything useful, though. I wonder if the objects mean something. Symbols, you know? Maybe we'll find out down below.
Casmenos will take Tumal's proffered rope, tie it around his torso and throw the other end over the side. Then he'll motion for the others to climb down.
If you decide to take the stairs, give me an an acrobatics check. If you decide to climb down the rope Casmenos is offering, give an acrobatics check. (Yes, it's the same check either way, but different DC levels for success.) Casmenos, after three people have taken the rope, give me an athletics check.
Destin's assistance will allow Casmenos to roll with advantage. Tumal, since Guidance is concentration, at each attempt you can provide it for either the person descending or Casmenos, not both. Can you please indicate which, so the person knows to add the 1d4?

Can someone refer me to where it says climbing a rope is an acrobatics check? I always thought climbing was an athletics check. Not nit picking, I want to know for my DM sessions.
Pre-rolling for Athletics check after 3 people climb down the rope: 22 and Guidance if given to me: 1
Forum has been nasty with rolls the last few days. The party in the module I'm DM'ing have been rolling 1's over and over, it's demoralizing.
Oops! Missed the part about advantage! 2nd Athletics check due to advantage: 5
Not nit-picking at all - Casmenos is absolutely correct, in that climbing is typically an Athletics check. I envisioned this as Casmenos lowering people down, rather than people climbing down, and since that is a more passive action on the person being lowered I wanted to provide what might be a simpler check for most . Scrolling up, passive lowering is not how the action was described, and I am mistaken. Accordingly, since I do not what to take back what I have already ruled in case it disadvantages people:
If you take the rope to climb down, make an Athletics or Acrobatics check (each person, your choice of which to take)
If you take the stairs, make an Acrobatics check
Casmenos also has the athletics check, and, wow, that is an impressively frustrating advantaged roll.

Destin checks over the statue, attempting to determine the race of the creature.

"If someone has rope, I can hold this end while the rest of you climb down. Then I'll risk the stairs and if things go poorly, I can protect myself from a fall."
Destin, the strange statue does not look like any particular race you know, but it may be of a more singular historical or religious nature.
Religion: 9 (3 if it is to do with undead lore)
Keksi follows after Cassyt. She is a little spooked by the statue.
Tumal steps forward, brandishing his rope. "I have a rope," he says. "And I can offer more guidance as well."
Marrow looks curiously at the statue. A scroll, a quill, a skull and... nothing? Tumal, can I... err.. borrow you for a moment?

Are there any cracks or seams in the stone floor or stairs to hammer in a piton to secure the rope?
There are no places where a piton would be placed without incurring significant damage to the stonework, which you feel might upset the Doomguide.

Destin will stay at the top with Casmenos to help brace him for the others to climb down.
"It seems this statue is the old caretaker of the dead." He tells the group. "An old god by the name of Jergal."
Tumal stands ready to cast guidance.

WTF!?
OOC but not spoilered so everybody see this:

Is there any chance of Destin catching Casmenos since he is also attempting to brace from the top? If so...
