Yorvir nods. "Would that we had a pair for you both, but unfortunately, we have just the one. When you have finished outfitting yourselves and are ready, Cassyt will take you below."
Regarding the goggles specifically, you can agree to settle it now for the duration of the adventure only, or further. I'd encourage working it out through roleplay/agreement, but Season 7 has a system for distributing items. This is typically done at the end of the adventure, but the Goggles are a special case, in that Yorvir offers them early. The season 7 rules are:
If everybody agrees one player gets it, that player gets it
If more than one person wants it, everybody interested counts their number of magic items. The person with the lowest number gets first choice. (Everybody has 0, so all tied here)
If more than one person wants the item and has the same count, roll a d20. Highest d20 gets it.
If you can agree without a roll now, that person can use it all the way through, and we will use this system to distribute at the end. If we need to go to a roll now, this roll will be the permanent distribution.
Note that this system is going away late August/early September, but the system that replaces it has not yet been finalized. If we end after those rules are finalized, and WoTC says we have to use those new rules, we will adjust.
Yorvir nods in respect at Tumal. "Even I have never seen Kelemvor manifest himself physically, though he speaks to me through his teachings, as he does to all the Faithful. Kelemvor is the Lord of the Dead, and does not assign tasks, so much as use his Faithful to execute his duties to the cycle of life. Followers of Kelemvor protect those who cannot protect themselves from unnatural death, we attend to the last needs of the dying, and we provide honors to the dead. The undead, who blaspheme this natural order, are fit only for destruction, and we seek them out, as well."
"You need not follow Kelemvor directly, but, if you share those aims, you serve him well, whether or not you are aware of any task."
Well, says Marrow, I suppose we’re ready to go. If you wouldn’t mind leading the way, miss? And if you also wouldn’t mind holding on to these nice-looking goggles too, this also to Cassyt, perhaps Destin, Kelvin and I can discuss as we’re walking how best to use them?
"Cassyt, I think our champions are prepared. Please see them to their task." With that, the Doomguide bows and departs.
As Yorvir recedes into the distance, Cassyt leads you through the graveyard, past numerous tombstones and mausoleums. You near a mausoleum that you cannot help but notice has quite a few Kelemvorites working nearby. The only other distinguishing factor about this one is its lack of a door. Inside is a small paved floor that opens into a wide stone staircase.
"Well, here we are," says Cassyt. "Any questions? How would you like to proceed? Down, I'm assuming?"
Tumal is pensive and does not say anything. He absent-mindedly touches the crystal at his throat. He has walked a little slower than the rest, migrating toward the back of the crowd.
Onward, agrees Marrow. And downward. He draws his sword, which is still glowing from Casmenos's spell, and waves it around for a moment, fascinated. So who's going first?
"Oh, I doubt such precautions will be necessary so soon, " Cassyt says with a smile and starts down the stairs. "In the meantime, I can teach you some things about this place, and our Order." She takes on the air of a tour guide or teacher, rather than an adventurer.
"Now, if you look closely, you will see the building we are in is relatively new, only a couple of centuries at most. The stairs we are descending are much, much older, easily four or five times. Most of the walls you see will be smooth stone, while some will have decorative features, or designs, all carefully crafted with heart and meaning. Feel free to investigate or even touch, but be careful about disturbing objects, please." She goes quiet as you get to the bottom of the stairs, preferring to let the room speak for itself.
The base of the stairs opens into a large, irregularly-shaped chamber. Stone ledges are carved along most of the walls to serve as tables.
The far wall of this room is covered a huge fresco. The painted tiles portraying people from every race and walk of life, arranged with no sense of perspective or relative scale. The design has suffered heavy damage from water seepage and mildew over the centuries.
You are in the area marked as room 1. In addition to the fresco and Cassyt's description, there is also a doorway to the east, and further down the room itself curves around to the east. The squares on this map are 10ft x 10ft; I will be using maps here and there to help illustrate what they are doing, and will note scale when they change.
Destin gets his handaxes readied, anticipating undead at any moment. He would like to check around the corner (towards where the 3 is on the map, and where it looks like there are bars)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((Nice map! ))
Casmenos will at least remain beside the others as they push forward to maintain his lead position while the others inspect the room. In the meantime, he'll speak back to Cassyt, "Do we need to go through that door, or some other direction?"
While the others look at the fresco's, Casmenos will do his best to listen and look for anyone that isn't part of the party.
Tumal: You can discern nothing of interest about the fresco.
Cassyt nods to the paladin "this is your party, my lord. Speaking of which, through that door is the banquet hall. Custom in Phlan is to hold a banquet to celebrate the memory of a loved one. More well-to-do mourners prefer to use an inn or banquet hall, but Kelemvor judges all the same, so through that door provide a room so that all my honor the tradition."
"Down there," she calls after Destin and Marrow, seeing that they appear to be spoiling for a fight, "lie the crypts of the First Families of Phlan - you can appreciate the beauty and the craftsmanship of resting places. " What Destin suspected were bars are in fact locked bars, protecting each richly decorated crypt.
Nobody in the party hears anything out of the ordinary, other than Cassyt's voice.

"You and me both." Destin comments at Kelvin's want for the goggles.

(I'm fine not using it, so let someone else use the goggles. Destin was just commenting he is also lacking in darkvision right now.)

"Onward?" Keksi asks. "Onward." Keksi says.
Onward, agrees Marrow. And downward. He draws his sword, which is still glowing from Casmenos's spell, and waves it around for a moment, fascinated. So who's going first?
Casmenos steps forward, "I will go first. Undead do not set traps, and should one strike, I can defend myself. Our guide can direct me from behind."
Bastian draws his sword, staying towards the edge of the light. "I'll keep an eye open for anything that might try to slip in behind us."

If it is dark, the crystal at Tumal's throat automatically lights up.
Ralotumal is very interested in the art on display and examines it closely.

For closely examining, investigation, not perception - but you may roll again, if you prefer

Marrow, keen to check that the room is secured and holds no unpleasant surprises, follows Destin, holding his glowing sword up to provide light.

Tumal's investigation is only +2, compared to his +4 perception, so the result is a 9. I'll keep the d20 result to be on the up and up.
