Rachus is alarmed by the large scorpion and readies his flute though he is unsure what the plan is. He looks to the resting scorpion and tries to recall what he knows of them. He seeks to recall what he knows of what a scorpion would eat and anything else he knows of them.

You all crouch in the darkness deciding your course of action. Several more times the creature shifts in place. Sooner or later it will notice you.

Everyone make a stealth check.

She listened to Skritch's moving words and watched the beast move around with growing dread. The sweat from her forehead dropped onto one of her hands, causing her to startle. "That's it. Zipity, zapity, zoom!" she yells as her last nerve was shaken and unleashes the Chaos Bolt (attack 8, Force damage 6+5=11) that she had been preparing but not sending. 

Skritch stealth: 11+1=12 

(and, if Sunhill's stealth isn't just rolled into Skritch's, Sunhill Stealth:  14+2=16) 

(and and, if Dealuri just, you know, started combat, initiative: 17+1=18) 

Vakas disappears into the shadows, he pulls out his short bow, notching an area, waiting quietly in the dark to see which way this goes.  If spells are unleashed and the die is cast, he will launch his arrow at the thing, grumbling under his breath “I would’ve just snuck around it…”

Stealth Check - 20 

Dealuri your chaos bolt streaks through the darkness and strikes the ground next to the Scorpion. He surges upwards with a chittering roar, its pincers snapping at the air and its tail raised and ready. 

Skritch you hunker down in the shadows but can not be certain that you have hidden from the startled Scorpion.

Dealuri you slip into the shadows and loose your arrow toward the creature. With a loud "plink" it bounces off the scorpions rock hard shell and ricochets into the darkness.

Rachus you slink bank into the darkness and feel confident that for the time being at least you are hidden from view.

Skritch Messages Vakas, "So, now that , if I understand this world, this evi- er - this... creature is an innocent with no ill will to us, what is our move, my comrade? 

"Can we simply walk past? Do we leave a gift? Perhaps I could offer it some goodberries?" 

Skritch is doing his best but he might, you know, secretly hope Vakas says they will have to fight it. And kill it. And crunch its chitin to dust. 

A squirrel can dream. 

Vakas replies “Don’t leave it goodberries for Pete’s sake!  We need those!  We should sneak on by… oh!  There we go, Dealuri just launched!”

Skritch's little furry face sets itself into snarl mode. 

He screams out loud, "FOR! YOUR! PUPS!" and launches a Fire bolt, to hit: 4+5=9, dam: nvrmnd... 

Bonus Action restarts his Shillelagh, dismounts, and starts to march forward, each step measured, determined, shield raised in front of him. 

Soon, he knows, soon he may be reunited with his lost siblings. 

He telepaths to everyone, "May we all meet on Yggdrasill's bough and share 'corn pap, with our loved ones. Come, it's a good day to die."

The scorpion is now alerted to your presence though it can not yet see all of you. It charges forward (using the dash action) and looms over you all, pincers snapping above your heads. You have another opportunity to attack before it is upon you all.

Skritch, Action, casts Enlarge on himself then, Bonus Action, Wildshapes into a Giant Badger. 

He won't get an attack, but he's ready for next round. 

Vakas stands up from his spot of hiding and launches an arrow at the scorpion.  Then he moves behind a rock or another spot that looks helpful and ducks down, hiding again.  

Short bow : 19 to hit, for 8 points of piercing damage and 10 points of sneak attack damage.  

Stealth to bonus action hide : 25

Rachus reaches for 1 gold coin and flings it at the large scorpion

Magic Coin - Subclass ability.

21 to hit 1 bludgeoning damage + 15 thunder damage. 

The gold coin after damaging the large scorpion ricochets back into Rachus' hand. 

Reaction if hit - silvery barbs the attacker needs to reroll attack with disadvantage. 

Movement: Moves 15 ft back away the enemy.

Skritch as you take on the form of the enormous Badger the scorpion rears back and snaps at you with a claw Attack: 15 Damage: 6

Vakas your arrow finds its mark, piercing the soft flesh between the creatures armoured joints. It flinches back, chittering in pain and shock.

Dealuri it snaps out its second claw attack toward you Attack: 15 Damage: 7

Rachus you throw your coin and it hits the beast with a metallic clink, followed by a deafening boom as the thunder damage is released. The magic tears a ragged crack in the scorpions carapace and it roars in shock and agony as it lashes its tail out toward you (rolled with disadvantage due to silvery barbs) Attack: 20 Damage: 4 plus 11 poison damage.

The scorpion staggers backward seriously injured and chitters angrily toward the party.

19 bloodied

Skritch dodges (AC16), all the foul scrp gets is a claw full of fur. (OoC, fyi, his badger form has poison resistance, in case that comes up!)

He warns Sunhill to stay back and stay safe. 

Then he tries to bite the carapaced killer,  To Hit: Nat 1 + 3 = Nat 1. Dam: ffs... sigh. 

Dealuri dodges the claw and pulls out her hand crossbow (attack 26, damage 10)

Vakas pops up again, taking aim at the giant scorpion with his bow.  He takes the shot, then hides again to avoid detection.  

Short bow : 14 to hit, for 10 points of piercing damage and 10 points of sneak attack damage.  

Bonus action : hide, stealth 18

Rachus recoils as the stinger stabs into him. The blow and poison cause him to dry heave as all he can think about is getting away from the scorpion.

Disengage Action - move 30ft back into the pool room. 

Skritch broadcasts to all within 30', "Yell out if you need healing, I can still, er, cast Cure Wounds while in this fearsome form."
