The blue haired orc felt a strange, tickling sensation inside his thick skull. For a moment he feared that jumbo sand dog stuck some sand fleas in his head. The intellectual sensation of neurons firing and the creation of a real live idea was rare for Salty. He liked the beach and choppin' stuff, not much need for the gray matter there. Sensing the location of the sand dog, and knowing exactly where the rope was behind him he spontaneously called out his idea. "Da big sack o' sand fleas is fer bein' a little to me left!"
Not being accustom to being the one with ideas he forgot to consider what may happen if they shoot and miss to the right...

“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
He quickly shook off the strange cranial sensation. He had some choppin' to do. With a quiet prayer to Valkur, he bent his knees, brought his gently curved longsword so low to his right that it touched the sand, and exploded up. The blade lagged slightly behind the force of his body, his arm dragging it and across to his left. The arc of the swing, power from his legs, and perfectly timed merger of both forces sent the blade whistling into the sandy monstrosity.
"Durn thing's shifty!" he called out as he felt the lack of solidity in his strike.

Krakan turns to Samir, saying “Hold on to this rope and don’t let go! Wrap it around that stone if you need some help holding it! I’m going in to help Salty!” Krakan nods at Samir, then wades forward into the sand, into the darkness to punch and kick this sandy creature into nothingness…
Movement : Krakan moves into the darkness, to the direct south of the creature, opposite of Salty. He begins his attack.
Kick : 12 to hit, for 5 points of bludgeoning damage.
Punch : 20 to hit, for 9 points of bludgeoning damage.

Either we cut it down in one last push, or we turn and run before it buries us.” Samir yells out to the party. He points to the sand dog, and casts Toll the Dead. Wis 13 save - (7 damage if not already damaged (1d8), or 2 damage if already injured (1d12)).
"Make our decisions quickly, boys. We may not have long left in this world!" Samir secures his place behind the rock, keeping a 90 degree angle of rope to keep Salty from dragging me back in.
"I can't tell how bad off the beastie is or what's going on with Salty. The beasties that our boss was losing their caravans too are very powerful, assuming these happen regularly and are the same that attack their caravans. If we don't have a good feel for surviving a prolonged fight with this beast we need to fight a retreating fight. Salty is in a bad spot though right now. We got to ether get them out of there or we need to pile on the damage to this foul creature."
Lucan gets ready to try and send another arrow at the creature or help someone get the camel and go.

Instead of casting toll the dead, I'd like to spend my action doing my best to secure the rope and myself around the rock, creating a stable and secure fixed anchor point.
"Samir I am going to go to the Northeast rocks to secure the camel and hide to get a good shot on the beast maybe."
Lucan will move east then north to secure the camel behind the northeast rock group. He has the camel laydown, so it does not see the beast from behind the rocks and hopefully less scared.
Bonus action cunning action to hide using the rocks for cover estimating 45ft from center of darkness. Lucan Stealth! 12
