Vaalu starts to slow down only after her first glance around reveals no obvious signs of danger. She keeps her hand axes at the ready, and doesn't allow her eyes to stay affixed on too long before looking sharply to a broken pew or corner. "Are you alright, Holy man?" Vaalu asks as she slowly strides forward. "We heard a scream earlier, and..." Vaalu trails off there uncertain of how best to continue. If there are no more screams, she looks to the others following behind with a questioning look.

Vaalu starts to speak, only to stop short and look down at the ground. She looks back up to the Father and her grip tightens on the axes in hand. "I am Vaalu, a daughter of Hiatae, and huntress. Now, explain yourself, Human! Who are you, and who does that voice belong to? Was that the source of the scream we heard coming in? Answer!" She asks, striding closer until she directly towered over the priest.

Brom can feel the tension building both inside and outside the church. His hands grip his axes tighter. His senses on high alert. "What's happening in there?!" An eerie sense that something is wrong is filling Brom with doubt about this trip to the church.

Nylin hops down from the cart once he finishes drawing the church and walks past Brom, as he does he taps him on the side "They are making alot of noise for a church at this time, i'm going to see whats happening."
As he walks in he notices the tension and walks up next to Vaalu with his crystal in hand "I would probably answer her if i was you"
Nylin pays close attention to what the man has to say. Insight 7
Donavich looks around as more of you come into the chapel, wondering who these people are that are rushing in, until he sees Ismark come in as well. "Ismark, what are you doing here? Who are these people?" Ireena speaks up invisibly, "It's okay, they are friends, they are helping us. Our father...passed away two days ago, we brought him to be buried, no one else would help us."
Donavich sighs, "Oh children, I am sorry for your loss" and he whispers a quick prayer. "Give me a few moments to prepare, and we can.."
But he's cut off by another scream from below the floorboards""Fatthheeerrr!"
Nylin - the man seems visibly shaken, he looks deprived of sleep
Andres peers over the edge. “Is he sick father?” He says clutching a holy symbol for those who are keenly paying attention notice the mark of a white glove as the symbol. “Maybe Alexander can help heal him, he has healed people before... it’s one of his gifts.”
After there seems to be no immediate danger inside the church, Faron joins Brom at the door. "Everything alright here?" he addresses Brom "There is a tired priest and something underneath that seems to be his suffering son. It is not clear what ails him."
Faron looks at Broms axes. "Don't you have any ranged weapons? Want some help?"
The priest lowers his head and lets out a sigh, "That sound is my son, Doru, and he is not ill he is cursed. He has been turned into something evil. He left against my wishes to follow some black robed mage, they were set on storming Ravenloft and taking down Strahd. He returned to me no longer my son. He hunger's for the blood of the living, so I locked him in the basement. Please, just leave him, I will find a way to undo what has been done to him."
Nylin puts his crystal away and looks at the priest.
"We haven't been here long and a lot of weird stuff has already happened, sorry for being abrupt, perhaps we can talk about this Strahd once we get their father seen to."

Hearing that this man's son had been to Ravenloft he begins to think that this maybe a opportunity to get some information. "Sir, would it be alright if you took us to see your son. I would like to ask him a few questions that may help us."

“Spirit. In every language in all the Realms, surface and Underdark, in every time and every place, the word has a ring of strength and determination. It is the hero's strength, the mother's resilience and the poor man's armor. It cannot be broken and it cannot be taken away.”
To Nylin he says, "I'm sorry, I would't have much to tell you about Strahd. My son would know more than I. There are preparations I must attend to before the burial, Ismark and Ireena I will need your help." He looks over to Alexander, "I suppose you could try to talk to him, down the hallway you came through in the last room on your left you'll find a trapdoor into the undercroft." His face turns very serious, "Don't get too close to him."

Responding to Andres, "Thank you for your words of encouragemen, I'll try what I can but it may take a power beyond me to cure him. To the Priest,"Understood, I'll think I'll go see him after you are done with your preparations. I want you there when I question him."

Rather than calming Vaalu, having her question answered about Doru only seems to incite her. She takes a step forward, only to stop as others begin to speak. After all is said and done, the fuming giantess takes one long hard look at the (presumably) retreating priest before storming back outside if no one stops her. And with both hand axes in hand, she starts pacing a short distance in front of the Cathedral doors, and muttering something in a language so foul, it physically hurt those that didn't understand it to hear[Abyssal]. And even someone did understand, the only thing that could be made out are curses and half-finished string of complaints.

Brom acknowledges Faron's approach with a nod. "Aye everything is quiet out here. I was never any good with a bow but I have this crossbow. Not sure it will have any effect on the undead though. Head shots work on them slow ones but not so well on the skeleton ones. Some ya gotta cut off the head." Vaalu pushes her way out the door and begins pacing, Brom looks at Faron "Well at least it was until now. I think if anything was planning to attack it most likely changed its mind. I wouldn't venture out there right now." Brom puts an arm out to block Faron. "Let her calm first. Might be best for you to go check on them inside. It looks like they have some information or some plan." Brom keeps a watchful eye on the surrounding area and on Vaalu. Brom also sits his crossbow against the wall in easy reach. "Just in case..."
After a few minutes Donavich returns, "Come, follow me." and he takes you into a small room. He pulls back a rug to reveal a trapdoor in the floor. He removes a small key from around his neck and unlocks a padlock and chain holding the door closed. Grabbing a candle he descends down into the basement. The church’s undercroft has rough-hewn walls and a floor made of damp clay and earth. Rotting wooden pillars strain under the weight of the wooden ceiling. Candlelight from the chapel above slips though the cracks, allowing you to glimpse a gaunt shape in the far corner.

Seeing the figure in the corner, Alexander can only assume it to be Doru. Opening his divine senses he try's to confirm he believes him to have become. "Doru, I hear that you've been to Castle Ravenloft. Can you tell me everything you saw there? Your father here tells me you've been cursed, was it Strahd that has done this to you?"
