Oswald knows that the citadel was once the home of a fierce dragon cult; however some great catastrophe caused the fortress to be swallowed by a rift in the earth about 100 years ago.
Garon serves the dragonborn traveler happily, "Rare we get one such as you in these parts. What brings you to Oakhurst?"

"Thanks for the information Garon, it will be a great help. Now how about that meal I ordered." Thinking to him, he begins to get worried about the whole affair. This talk about magic apples that can cure anything worries him. Nothing like that doesn't come without a price.

She then turns to Garon "Can I please have what Alex is having? and four more ales, one for Alex, Sprocket and another for this fellow here" she calls too the barkeep, gesturing to Oswald and the Dragonborn, turning to Alex smiling she says: "I'll get this round".

"How much do I owe you Garon?" Irina asks, getting her coins ready, she turns to the towering Dragonborn and replies, "greetings Hunhow, My name is Irina and these two gentlemen here are Alex and Oswald, We were discussing venturing into some nearby ruins known as the Sunless Citadel once we finish gathering information in town. If you are willing we could use the extra help, I'm sure the others won't object to splitting any treasure we find".
Alexander Wenzel Eusebius Beaumont Lvl 1 | Human | Paladin
"Where we are going an extra Blade will definitely be handy to have. If you are willing to go we can discuss payment later, maybe split anything we find equally between the ones that go. I'm sure you may also be able to get some kind of glory or fame that you can take with you into the arena. Come drink with us as we discuss the adventure to come."

Oswald nods enthusiastically at the mention of renumeration. "A momentous day! Our first contract! I heartily agree to the terms of behalf of Muckbuckle and Raulnor." He takes his drink in both hands and raises it up. "A toast to our endeavour and new companion. I must say the insight he might offer on the citadel itself will be most intriguing." Oswald takes a pull from his drink and sets it down, turning to Irina.
"Sprocket is a nickname. It is not a given name, but one earned." Oswald takes another sip, setting the drink back down. "Are you familiar with clockwork?"
Irina smiles back at Baron, toasts the group, then turns to Oswald, "I am somewhat familiar the Order of Magists and Protectors in Waterdeep had classes for people to learn of their construction and I've encountered gnomish merchants who sold clockwork toys and machines, but my knowledge is nonetheless fairly superficial. Do you make clockworks?" Says Irina, eager hear what Oswald has to say on the subject.
Oswald shrugs "I suppose I dabble, although I have nothing prepared to demonstrate..." Seizing a flash of inspiration, he rummages within his pack, producing a number of cogs and a small chain.
Lifting each in turn to Irina, he patiently explains, "These cogs have teeth, they fit together and when one turns, all cogs connected to it will turn." Placing the cogs teeth together he demonstrates befoee placing them on the bar. "This sprocket also has teeth, but of a different nature, see these are slender where the cogs teeth are broad and interlocking." He drapes the chain across the sprocket with his hand. "The sprocket is designed to work with the chain, movement of the chain can drive the sprocket, or rotation of the sprocket can drive the chain." He rotates the sprocket and pulls the chain to demonstrate then gathers up the items and places them back into his pack.
"Do you see? The movements, and their interplay create the basis for clockwork. You just need to input the initial momentum or rotation. You could create a shuffling imitation of a beetle, or a pulley system for transporting barrels of ale into a cellar," Oswald looks towards Garon as he pointed says this and lifts his drink and sips.
"To return to my name if I might, the sprocket does not operate with the cogs, it operates by itself, as do I mainly."
Keenly listening to Oswald's explanation, Irina is impressed by his technical know-how. She then pauses for a moment "Then who is the eponymous Raulnor? The chain in the system that his your business?".
Oswald nods, "Just so. He operates from our headquarters, overseeing and administering." Placing a hand in his chest, he continues "I drive this enterprise out here. Mainly networking for now. Developing contacts. Building brand recognition."
Leaning in conspiratorially, "Though truth be told Alston's nickname as a younger gnome was Dusty. His father and mother were bakers, so flour was always abundant at his home. Did you know flour can explode? Because we certainly didn't..."
Draining his drink, he looks at the group assembled at the bar. "Well, what about you folk, what brings you here?"
Taking a swig of her ale, Irina explains her situation "well, my motivations are fairly simple, I'm fresh out of the Arcane academy and my family runs an antiques shop, as such I've always been fascinated by ancient history. I left the city so I could wander the world and find hidden relics, artefacts and ruins, to sate my curiosity; aside from antiques I also dabble in alchemy, so my family shop is fairly varied."
Alexander Wenzel Eusebius Beaumont Lvl 1 | Human | Paladin
"My reasons for doing this are somewhat long term. With my family's lands destroyed by Mount Hotenow erupting thirty years ago I stand to inherit a meaningless title and little else. I'm hoping to build up enough coin and possibly earn enough favors to help restore my family's land. I figured that this could be a important first step on the road to fulfilling that goal."
