Ruvien initially watches the jackals while his companions try to scare them away. Seeing those efforts fail, he draws his shortsword and dagger and prepares for a fight! (Holding to see what Beta does - if it gets within melee range Rook will attack it. If not, Rook will move 20' and engage Alfa...Rolls in spoiler for DM...)
Shortsword Attack: 12 Damage: 4 Offhand dagger Attack: 19 Damage: 3 - if shortsword hit, then dagger attack gets advantage - take higher of the two attack rolls: 25 Additional sneak attack damage (if the jackal is either (1) within 5' of an ally of Rooks or (2) if both shortsword and dagger hits): 2
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The jackal that just got a load of sand dumped on it (Jackal Beta) shakes off the sand and gets back up (20' movement spent doing so) and rushes at Erdrin (using another 20' movement) and tries to chomp the ranger!
Jackal Beta vs Erdrin: (Attack: 12 Damage: 0, Piercing)
Rook takes off after Jackal Alpha, who is still collapsed at the bottom of the pit in the sand that Nyx formed. His first strike with his shortsword is well and enough able to put the jackal down, and he opportunistically moves on to Jackal Gamma, who is equally easily dispatched.
Nyx, you and Corvus are ready to make the next move.
Ok, Nyx will use bonus action to place Hex on Jackal Beta then attack Jackal Beta with Eldritch Blast for 12 attack and 5 damage. Hex triggers for another 3 and then they move to between Jackal Beta and Delta but 20ft up. He'll yell at the jackals again. Also Jackal Beta has disadvantage on Dex saving throws.
Rook turns his glare on the last remaining jackal, determined to repay double the pain it inflicted!
Shortsword attack: 25 (Critical hit!) Piercing damage: 9 Dagger offhand attack: (w/adv due to Vex): 22 Piercing damage: 6 + sneak attack damage: 6 for 12 total damage from the dagger!
"Mangy beasts...we can't even get a good cloak out of their hides!" Rook says as he turns back to the group to make sure their guide donkey is unharmed and still there!
It is quiet a moment, before Janice the mule starts walking again at the same steady pace as before. You can spend a little time healing or otherwise preparing, if you wish, but don't tarry too long lest you get left behind in the desert as the sun sinks below the horizon.
Nyx settled comfortably atop Corvus, letting the vulture’s steady wings keep them aloft as the desert sun dipped low. His eyes scanned the horizon while he caught his breath, quietly instructing Corvus to stay alert and sound the alarm at the slightest hint of danger.
After a moment, Nyx called down to the group with a calm tone, “I’ve got a scroll of Cure Wounds if anyone’s feeling worse for wear. I’d like to hold onto it, though, just in case we run into something tougher before this is over.”
You continue to follow Janice through the desert. The stars are shining brightly, and a full moon is high overhead. Eventually, Janice enters a narrow ravine and passes through an arch of stone, before stopping at a stream coming off of a pool of water to drink. The moonlight reflects off the surface of a crystal-clear pool, illuminating the array of lush and colorful plant life that grows around it.
At the center of the oasis is a cactus with a single red blossom at its top.
Rook gladly accepts the goodberries from Erdrin and munches them quickly!
At the oasis when his partners determine that all is clear, Rook approaches the blooming cactus and looks closely at the flower. Does it look whole and intact, or is there an obviously missing petal? If the flower is whole, he recommends plucking the petal and then guarding the cactus to ensure nobody else takes more and thus kills the plant.
Rolls if needed. Investigation: 8 <> Perception: 16
Nyx studies the glowing Blue Moon Bloom carefully, the single delicate flower shimmering under the moonlight. He turns to the group with a measured nod.
“I agree, I think we pluck just one petal—nothing more—to keep the cactus healthy. Then, if anyone has Plant Growth or Entangle ready, we should use them to guard the bloom and deter any unwanted hands. I’ll whip up my Druidcraft to help encourage the bloom’s natural cycle while keeping watch from above on Corvus. I could also use Sand Structure to block the stone archway. It wouldn't be permanent but it might slow someone down and we'd probably hear them trying to knock it down.”
He settles atop Corvus, eyes sharp as ever, ready to protect the precious bloom and his companions.
Lucky stares at his reflection int he water of the oasis and adjusts his hair as he responds, "Maybe we oughta stick 'round fer the night... Keep this here cactus flower nice and safe... Make sure no fools come 'round wanting pluck this beauty when the time ain't right."
He dramatically gestures to his pack with his thumb.. "Got plenty of food to share. You folks like peanut butter, bacon and banana?"

Nyx, you and Corvus are ready to make the next move.
Jackal Beta: 19
Rook: 18
TURN > Nyx and Corvus: 16
Jackal Epsilon: 12
Jackal Alpha: 10Jackal Delta: 8
Erdrin and Hound: 5
Jackal Gamma: 5Lucky Jackson: 3
Jackal Beta bit Erdrin, but wasn't even able to pierce the skin. These apparently pitiable desert creatures clearly picked a bad fight...
Nyx's blast puts Jackal Beta to rest.
Jackal Epsilon goes to take a bite out of Rook: (Attack: 18 Damage: 2, Piercing)
Jackal Delta will then go under Nyx and after Erdrin: (Attack: 17 Damage: 1)
Erdrin is up, then Lucky Jackson, then Rook, then Nyx! Finish this.
(OOC: All of my rolls are in the campaign log.)
Erdrin pulls out his longsword and strikes at the Jackal.
True Strike Hit: 18 Damage: 10 Radiant
If the Jackal falls Erdrin will move next to Jackal Epsilon.
The Jackal definitely falls from that.
Rook turns his glare on the last remaining jackal, determined to repay double the pain it inflicted!
Shortsword attack: 25 (Critical hit!) Piercing damage: 9
Dagger offhand attack: (w/adv due to Vex): 22 Piercing damage: 6 + sneak attack damage: 6 for 12 total damage from the dagger!

Erdrin and Rook finish off the last two jackals.
Erdrin gives off a soft chuckle at Nyx's words.
"There is no reason for you to use such a valuable item right now."
With that Erdrin holds out his hand and ten berries appear. (Casting Goodberry.)
"It seems that Mister Rook was the only one to get hurt. Take what you need to heal yourself."
With that Erdrin gives Rook 2 Berries so that he can get to full health. (8 left) After that Erdrin gets back on Hound and continues to follow.
This must be the place!
(OOC: Erdrin is riding on Hound.)
When the group enters the ravine, Erdrin gives Hound the signal to search the area.
“Let's be careful and make sure that there are no enemies around.”
Erdrin Perception Roll: 18
Hound Perception Roll: 24
The oasis seems peacefully still; the air is filled with the sounds of desert crickets and cicadas, nothing more dangerous.
Nyx say he will circle the cactus and slowly get closer to it unless someone else has a better plan.
Erdrin walks up to Nyx and looks at the area attempting to see if anyone has been in the area recently. Erdrin casts Blade Ward on himself.
Survival Roll: 7
"It seems like there is no one around. I'm following you."
Aside from a few tracks of jack rabbits, the sands appear undisturbed.
Rook gladly accepts the goodberries from Erdrin and munches them quickly!
