Arkun steps in front, moving toward the man to assess, injured, tortured, dead? "Don't be frightened... we're here to help, some horrible things going on in this cave, did anyone move past you? Are you awake, are you alright?..." Arkun holds his staff ready, but examines the man with a keen eye, used to assessing injuries, applying poultices, and bandaging lacerations in the past. He looks for signs of injury, seen or unseen, physical.. or mental.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Aldric's eyes narrow into slits as he scans the room. There's no sign of the so-called Lord, but here is another body. Most likely another undead. Perhaps the Lord in disguise. Some kind of prisoner? Unlikely, in the half-orc's opinion.
OOC: If anyone approaches the man, Aldric will tell them to stop.
The knight turns to look at the other three. "Did any of you see any other passages besides those that led here? Could he have taken another turn?"
Following their responses, he turns to eye the strange sigil. (Roll a check for me, DM, to see if I know anything about this thing?)
If he doesn't recognize it, he asks, "Arkun, do you know what that is?" Though perhaps a long shot, he hopes the druid can share some insight.
As Arkun moves toward the body, Aldric is immediately at his side, clasping the elf's shoulder. "Step back," he warns. The words hiss through the half-orc's thick lips, but his eyes are on the body — a mixture of anger and wariness. "You remember what happened the last time we tried to 'aid' a body we found."
"What in the ninez...?" Rumble muttered as he too stared at the macabre sight. Frankly, if it were not for Aldric's warning to Arkun, the earth genasi might've stood there near the entryway trying in vain to make sense of the sigil. "Huh? I'm sorry, wh-what's going on? What's this about a-... Oh.."Peering past the peer, he finally takes in the sight of the figure.
"Huh. Uhh... Mn. With all due respect, sir, this don't look like the same case as last time. And even if it were, why wouldn't he have'm up and about try'na guard-..."He looks to the sigil again and gestures. "Whatever is going on with all that. Though gotta say, it's kinda screaming portal of some kind? 'cause I don't remember see'n any other passages on the way here. Unless.. they're like secret passages -- you see anything, Rylan?"He glances back to the paladin.

((Will say that Aldric is able to stop Arkun, he was leading into the room.))
Arkun stops and looks down at Aldric’s hand on his shoulder, he has a look of annoyance on his face, then realization as he considers that Aldric may be right. “Doesn’t look like a zombie to me. Looks like someone who has been harmed by that necromancer.. I can help him.”. But then he hears about the symbol on the wall and turns to look at what Aldric is pointing out, trying to see if there is anything magical about it, anything that provokes a memory..

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
The figure on the ground groans softly, breathes in deeply, and flexes upper body muscles, trying to relieve the stiffness. Then apparently sensing the presence of others in the room, the man rolls over and sits up quickly, squinting at the newcomers.
"Who... Who are you?" he asks with a voice as gentle as a sunbeam, with no hint of the raspy wheeze one might expect of a prisoner in such depraved conditions.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
He looks for signs of injury, seen or unseen, physical.. or mental.
The man is a bit beaten up and dirty, but still looks to be in relatively healthy shape. He couldn't have been here long as he shows no signs of malnutrition or atrophy.
Looking closely at the symbol, neither Aldric nor Arkun have ever seen anything like it before. It does not seem to resonate with any real power, but the sight of it invokes a sense of a mixture of awe and dread.
"Can't you see it!?" a voice calls out, deep but wavering in excitement or panic. "It's the Eye! It sees your every move! Don't you fear it?"
One of the tapestries at the far side of the room is thrown aside, and the Lord of Lance Rock stands in its place, a wild look on his face and a wand leveled in the your direction.
Though a touch startled at first, Rumble soon lets out a sigh that was a mixture of both mild relief and exasperation. But just as he opens his mouth for a response, in clocking the wand in hand, the earth genasi grimaces, then glances over to the others. "The eye is certainly... something, to say the least. Mind telling us what the deal with it is? Or are you the type that only knows how to play the prounoun game?"He asks in what may come to some as surprisingly calm tone after his earlier outburst. "Like, has that always been here, or...?"The novice trailed off there, hoping the open-ended question might coax the man into ranting more details... and maybe distract him long enough for the others to figure out next moves.
(OOC: Not sure why it rolled so many times, but I guess the first one is a 9 on Persuasion... Rip)

Aldric is surprised by the elf as he wakes. Though, it's better to be surprised in this way than by danger as before. He opens his mouth to either respond to the ... prisoner's? ... question or to say something to one of the others when the "Lord's" voice rings out. The half-orc's head swivels, looking for its source until the tapestry moves.
As Rumble addresses the maniac, Aldric takes a few steps toward him. He clocks the wand, but he's done playing games with this mad man.
Leaning forward a little, the knight raises his shield and marches forward, preparing to block any incoming attacks.
