two spots open cause a player bowed out. Looking for players to play test my campaign or just get to the end of it (if somehow possible) to find things to tweak or add also just to have a good time.
If you want some details here we go:
Setting: pretty much exclusively in the abyss and its many layers(lots of homebrew)
Purpose/mission: Exploration and documentation. Also there are a few quests that are pretty simple.
Combat: Probably not much because it'd be tedious to do on this unless players are up for it.
Homebrew: Yes. (I'll try to list it in a doc if possible. And yes, I'm sorry about their lengths if you like lots of details to latch onto then you'll hopefully appreciate it)
Npc's: A lot of loveable goofballs and some pretty cool ones too (at least in my opinion)
Monsters: If you're not a combat fan I can just make the encounters easier and/or more word and action based outcomes rather than dice.
Players: preferably chill and able to do some roleplay and not make others too uncomfortable(even if it's in character that doesn't excuse it)also if you don't like keeping track of and writing things down this might be a bit annoying so maybe bring your own google doc if you don't want to have to memorize a ton of info.
Cheating/punishment: In foreword--please, just don't. If it's a roll that doesn't matter like a perception roll to see if the sky is blue I genuinely don't care what you get but anything that matters don't otherwise that can ruin it for others. If there is a consistent pattern of unnaturally high unmodified rolls I may ask you to reroll...or send a random stalagmite through your skull. So just stick to the in forum rolling to summarize.
Crafting: I spent roughly 2 hours thinking of some basic items, flora, harvestables, and other things that you could store and use to craft unique magic items if you want to discuss with me.
Mechanics:
Insanity??
Need for sleep and food (goodberry is not a solution).
C O R P S E H A R V E S T I N G
Crafting
Plant harvesting.
(up to players) weak points and combat perception checks to gain bonuses to damage or gain insight on enemy faster.
A few more miscellaneous features
I want players to enjoy this and I'll allow for up to 5 players to join. Please consider joining I have nothing to do during the summer outside of work and sports practice so this would be wonderful.
For application please do something similar to this preferably in private message:
Character name: (insert here)
Ability scores in order: STR DEX CON INT WIS CHA
Important traits about character: (ie. hates being out in the open while sleeping)
Short description of backstory or i'll lose my mind:
(Sub)Class: start at level 4 and If you aren't sure I have some pretty unique homebrew options for you.
Reason to want to work with the people in your unit to explore the abyss or lack thereof with reason why you are still doing it (it's just kind of a courtesy to have a reason to want to interact with and cooperate)
Important traits about character: Takes things literally. Follows the law, exept when he doesn't. Perfers words over action, and usually acts as such.
Short description of backstory or DM will lose their mind: Born to wealthy, encouraging parents who live well and promoted him and his siblings individuality. That said, he wanted to become a faceless knight well versed in combat.
(Sub)Class: A champion fighter.
Reason to want to work with the people in your unit to explore the abyss or lack thereof with reason why you are still doing it (it's just kind of a courtesy to have a reason to want to interact with and cooperate); The abyss is a place where you can slay monsters and not be tested on whether or not is a "moral" thing.
You are in a dimly lit room, lights flicker around you as a faint breeze comes through the building. People of many races from all around sit together at tables, talking loudly sharpening weapons and trading with others around them. You can occasionally make out pieces of conversations "...chasm opened..." "...demonic ants..." "..flying.." "...endless..." "...for..mother..." "...died...torn...layer..." "...Skarn'll never..." "...Damien...killed...magic" You were seated at a table with four others while awaiting induction and briefing from the head commander. What is your character doing at the table? Describe their actions and interactions with those around them.
(P.S you can also roll to listen more in on the other conversations)
Bjorn sits at his table, helmet over his face, head down. He has an Armet helmet, despite only having the standard armor for chainmail. His Greatsword is on his back, and his hands clutch at his legs while he sits. Various other weapons adorn his dark Grey armor, and a tattered, dark red rag that once was a cape flows gently in the breeze. To an untrained eye, he may seem like he is pondering some deep event, but in truth he is merely anti social.
At the same table, awaiting briefing is a woman wearing long-sleeved thick black outfit. While on first glance her outfit seems like cloth, upon closer inspection it becomes clear that there is a layer of thick chain mesh sewn into the cloth between two layers, offering much greater protection than it would otherwise seem. Her arms are covered by golden gauntlets. Around her waist is a brown leather belt from which hangs a War hammer. On her right hand is a silver shield with a blue border. Her face is obscured by a jade green hood. Being 5ft 10 in tall, while she would look like a normal human woman, if a bit on the taller side, the red, almost glowing eyes peeking out from under the dark shadow of the hood and the rattlesnake tell hints and a more sinister origin.
Jasmine is quiet at the table, listening to the conversation around her while she waits.
Sitting at the right of Jasmine a woman with long silver hair waits. What truly stand out about her is her appearance, atop her head are a pair of cat ears the same silver as her hair and a long tail idling swaying near the floor. Many would expect her to be a tabaxi, but her face and torso are quite human. At a full 6 foot tall she presents a tall elegant figure with a feline grace and quiet confidence. She is wearing dark robes that contrast her fair complexion and silver hair.
Jasmine you hear a few odd tidbits of info from the recruits around you. One is talking about the payments his mother will get from his service, another talks about the ants that appeared from the chasm just 50 kilometers (31 miles) away and that they are growing more aggressive than ever. One of the soldiers got cheated out of his spot on the royal guard and was instead enlisted in the void corps due to his combat prowess, another was forced to stay on base and watch someone called Damien so he doesn’t accidentally get another person injured like before. One other talks about the blindfolded man who made boss bleed and how he’s still only a scout in one of the suicide teams. Another is complaining that professor Skarn would never give any assistance to the mapping teams and would always dismiss them.
Jasmine gets a look from one group after listening in on their conversation, getting told to “Buzz off you eavesdropping lizard brain.”
When she had arrived at the table, the purple-skinned woman had glanced around, her bright pink eyes scanning each person. "Hello," she had said as she took her seat. She brushed her white hair away from her eyes, two large horns emerging from her head, sweeping back before curling back up slightly. They clearly marked her as a tiefling.
She was dressed in an ornate outfit of blues, grey's, and purples, made of supple, yet protective leather. And a pink cloak of light cloth drapped across her shoulders and back. She wore a rapier at her side.
"Are we still waiting for others?" she asks in a soft girlish voice. Settling in, she sets the lute she'd been carrying to the side and pulls out some papers from her pack. She starts to look through them, humming softly. Though she seems distracted, she's really trying to catch tidbits of the conversations around her.
Bjorn raising his head catches Dasolis' attention. "Sir, do you always wear such a helmet? It seems incongruous in a setting such as this." She glances up towards the ceiling. "Or is there some danger here I'm not aware of?" She grins slightly at her comment.
Bjorn you can hear small tidbits of talk about a blindfolded man, Bjorn you can also see an abnormal amount of ash coming off of the torches. But other than that the podium remains empty and the commander hasn’t arrived yet.

Is this the Out of the Abyss module, or homebrew? Is it PbP here?
No it’s not a module and yeah I’m pretty sure it’s going to be PbP on this so I hope that answers your questions.

Y'all can get some time to talk with those at your table.
Bjorn will raise his head at Dasolis' question, but lower it again withought saying anything.
Bjorn do you choose to roll perception?
It couldn't hurt.
