"So as many know, the abyss has many layers and the next layer directly underneath this paradise is that of the Driller nest. It's mostly interconnected tunnels filled with interconnected ants that seem to function in hive mind like structure. These ants have appeared out of the recently formed chasm as of 2 years 5 months 3 weeks and 1 day ago. They are dangerous and their plates are made of a form of chitin with unknown properties that can make them immune to damage almost on the first strike dealt to them. These ants aren't only grounded their has been a new breed known as Chasme drones-Damien did the naming. The drones can fly at breakneck speeds and all around them risk being influenced by the unique pheromones they carry. They've been known to cause psychosis, instant loss of consciousness, and many other unique symptoms that we haven't managed to identify the reason for, avoid when possible, don't attempt melee.

Soldiers are dangerous but mostly only in the depths of the tunnels, think the drones but grounded and slightly less potent. Worker ants can also dig through tunnels slowly but typically avoid digging up collapsed tunnels so you could collapse tunnels on your path as a deterrent in theory. The ants posses at least some sort of intelligence and there was one case of human limbs being seen mixed in with the ants limbs." She shudders her body in disgust, but quickly returns to her formal and upright attitude. This is all that we know though so that's going to be where you come in." She takes a moment to breathe.
"Arazel's group will be going to find the path to the connected layers." She mutters to herself about yet another one of the group members being absent alongside the blindfolded [redacted] "Same with you guys. It's going to be 4 days including today until you go diving. You'll get roughly 2 weeks of rations when spread thin, rope spikes to help climb and a few satchels and books to write things down. There's also a few books on magical synergies of ingredients and similar things available to you if you go to the library. Good luck. If we get any more information on any parts of your mission we'll give you a bit more." Jade then looks outside of the tent for a moment.

“If you want my advice… take tonight to walk the forest trails. They run just north of the ridge. Quiet. Living trees. Birdsong.” Jade pauses to fold her arms as her expression softens a bit. “After tomorrow, it’ll be noise, heat, stone, and bone for a long time. You won’t see the sky again for weeks—if ever. Edgar sometimes runs training drills out there. Might be worth bumping into him. You never know, maybe he'd offer you guys the chance to spar. Now that'd be a laugh.” She smiles to herself.
"Also, if Bran says he's going left go right, even Edgar got promptly knocked flat on his rear when he didn't." She speaks up to Bran this time, "Offer a demon a fair fight one more time and I'm sending you in with quartered rations and no gear." She looks over to Ceth. "Look after the kid as well he's started hearing voices from outside what he says is reality. The kid has a good heart but don't underestimate him."
"Ara can handle herself but promise me that you'll stop Arven from doing anything stupid should you be around. Mira's hardheaded and abraisive--and gone--but she' handy in a pinch. I guess what I'm trying to say is stick together with the group and keep each other safe. I don't send letters home." She looks off into the distance. "Anymore at least."

"For both groups combined it should be 11," A voice comes from behind belonging to a younger lady wearing a scarf. You notice she's also carrying a large satchel filled with papers to the brim. "Sorry for being late for the briefing, Skarn needed me to run some papers around real quick. My name's Mira and I can see that that fellow on the floor also has can interact with sou--" she freezes and then moves back to what she was doing, handing over the mountainous bag of papers over to Jade before looking down with disgust. "Murderer." She practically spits on Kellin's face. "You don't even have enough respect to sit upright. C'mon guys let's go. It's midday already and we should probably enjoy the sights while possible to do so." Her voice tries to change to a more friendly tone but it only comes out menacing. "Feel free to come with us to the market. We have a discount on most of the goods because we're on the dive unit. Also we can probably get more acquainted seeing as we're going to be stuck in the pit together for a while, most likely."

"Avoid the flying drones. Got it," Dasolis mutters as the specifics are finished.
"On to the market? Hopefully find something nice to eat, see what else they offer, then maybe find that forest?" she comments to the others. Whatever their response, she heads off toward the market.
At the marketplace their is plenty of smells, sights, colors and noises swirling around in a vortex of interactions haggling and much more. There are plenty of stores offering ropes and other supplies that should be provided to your group. Surplus won't hurt right? There's even a man talking about a magic bag that has twice the storage of a normal bag that weight the same no matter the objects stored. There's also plenty of clothing merchants.
The food stalls are incredibly busy with plenty of spices and trades being offered to people. Bran points to a stall and says that it was the elemental candy he was talking about. "I'll get some for everyone, take your pick on element. No necrotic for a good reason though so don't ask. Take this as my little treat for you guys."
There's a man offering to tell tales of many of the fallen heroes from expeditions both recent and long since past. His lute and vocal skills are haunting as he tells a story of a boy branded by the crown of fire returning to burn down the enemies that have wronged him in the past. It doesn't seem to be an event that happened in the future but more so a forecast of events to come. Most people pass him by though, some even quickening their paces as they watch him sing, they seem uncomfortable or even scared.
What is your character doing?

"Element?" Dasolis asks when Bran talks about the candy. "Do you mean like fire, water, air? Or more like types of magic?" She would like to see if there is any place with armor - or she supposes anything that might help defensively a bit. But she is thinking she should have enough to upgrade her leather armor to studded leather at least. She doesn't hold out much hope for anything magical that might be affordable to her.
"Yes.... Specifics would be appreciated." Jasmine agrees.
Noelle nods in agreement
Kellin lays down as if to take a nap but you can tell he’s awake.

Noelle heads to the market. (Are we getting any supplies issued to us? What about starting gold?)
Oops. Yeah you guys get 50 gp.
"I have advantage on dex saving throws what could go wrong?"
Bjorn goes to the market too, to see what is for sale.
Is that 50 total or 50 added to your starting equipment gold?
In my case I have 36gp starting
Sure you can add it. Though I don’t really think you’ll need to buy that many things that you’ll run out. Even with just 50 gp.
"I have advantage on dex saving throws what could go wrong?"
Thanks 👍
(OOC DM) I'm going to wait for Dasolis before putting out details for the market.
