Tori may read the spoiler as the mephit will repeat his message.

"It's asking for payment to enter the cave" *Tori holds out a gold piece with a shrug*

The small icy mephit waves you forward towards the huge earth elemental which holds out it’s hand.

As the gold piece is placed in its palm it is absorbed quickly into the creatures body.  You can smell the metallic/earthy smell of the behemoth.  You see veins of ore and layers of mineral in this giant.  Then it slides to the side.

The icy little mephit giggles as you prepare to enter.

"Head on a swivel, but let's explore" *If it's dark in the cave Tori will produce a torch for light and heat*

 “Maybe ask it what this place is?”Krakel suggests. “This path seems to be rarely used. I would hate to walk into a cave filled with those angry little bonsai or anything of the like.” “You can tell them we are explorers from another world.”

 Krakel follows, also presenting a gold piece. 

Magoo hopes his natural suspicion is incorrect as he puts away his dagger but keeps his sword out. He produces a gold piece to give to the huge elemental. “This better be worth it.” 

{Is it charging one gold piiece per person, or one for the entire group?}

As you present your coins the earth elemental looks like it’s making a big huge grin.  The mephit flits about excitedly,  (speaking in primordial)

“They seem really happy to see us, I bet they don’t get many visitors this far out in the wild.”

As you enter the ice cave you can hear the river gurgling below your feet the path inside is made of grit.  The ice is thick and clear as you continue along you can see shapes and things in the ice it looks like wreckage.  Finally at the end of the cave you gather a scene of horror a large mushroom strapped on a metal table a medium size mantis creature on the floor.. it appears this is a crash site frozen in ice.  Presumably there is much more within the ice but this scene is clearly carved and polished for viewing.

You hear wings behind you and hear the mephit, (primordial)

Tori stands shocked for a moment. Then tries to determine if the mephit caused this, or is just capitalizing on it

Magoo also wonders about the intent of the mephit (Insight 12) and looks closer at the other frozen parts (perception 23). 

“This is very strange indeed. It would appear we are not the first to crash on this planet.” Krakel thinks aloud.

“I wonder how long ago this took place. I don’t know what their intent was, perhaps exploring like us, but this is a bizarre scene the way that mushroom is strapped to the table. It almost looks like an experiment of some sort.”  

Krakel looks around for any books, paperwork, or data devices he would recognize that may tell something about all this.

 same as Tori’s insight.  The mantis creature has a headband on its head and a tray of ‘tools’ scattered at its feet. (Torture/interrogation tools) the big blue/purple myconid is certainly the subject of the mantis…

You’ve seen pictures but cannot recall the names.

"Great, a weird and disturbing tourist trap. Seems like others have taken advantage of the mushroom folks. I wonder how they all became frozen. Well, whatever the reason, I suggest we leave to continue our mission to find rocks and ore." 

"Agreed, hopefully ones that DON'T talk" Tori says with a grimace

“Such a strange place, perhaps we can mark it on the map. Maybe in the future it can prove useful some how.” Krakel says as he begins to follow the others.
