The long rest passes but the sun does not rise. Under a canopy of stars the new day begins. It is cooler today and it feels like rain may be imminent. Something new you see seedlings flying at first you think bats or birds but the weird ‘helicopter’ flight reminiscent of maple seeds is a strong reminder, as of yet only botanical life has been observed.
Does the party head out right away? Do you clean up your camp site? What light if any do you have as you travel? Breakfast?
Torri would try to keep a torch handy as a source of light when not near anyone else, she'd clean up camp and mend anything that was broken during the long rest.
She'd probably use the smolders of the fire to 'smoke' the remaining flower fish to preserve them for travel
Magoo thanks those who have learned the Light cantrip. One of these days, I hope to get that skill, he says wistfully. As it is, he can only cast Minor Illusion and Speak with Animals, which he suspects does not work on plants. He refills his waterskin from the river/creek and is ready to depart.
”Everyone gather your water skins together after they are filled, and I will perform a purification ritual on them to ensure they are clean to drink.” Krakel takes about ten minutes and ritual cast “purify food and drink”.
“Seems like today may be a wet one.” Krakel straps his shield to the top of his pack, with the bottom hanging over his head as a rain awning. “There that will at least keep some of me dry.”
Lyra helps Torri clean up the camp. Part of her training about nature was learning to respect nature, which included cleaning up after you finished with camp.
She kept a light cantrip going as long as she was awake. Since she can see in the dark, she's willing to cast it on someone else who needs the light if they want.
With rain possible, she made sure her backpack was tightly sealed to try to keep the contents dry. Not much she could do about keeping herself dry...
As the party cleans up the camp area, refills and ritually purifies water and prepares for a hike in the dark a pouring rain immediately begins a few flashes of lightning and some booming thunder right behind. Everyone is quickly soaked even Krakle whose head and shoulders avoid the worst of it. Other then a long wet first hour nothing else of great interest you follow the left fork of the river in a north westerly direction and sure enough rolling hills soon spread before you another few hours will hopefully get you where you intended to discover a forest.
Everyone make a constitution save vs 1 level of exhaustion. DC 13
Over and around hills you go till finally you see a tree line as you get closer you notice some of the trees literally form a roof of leafy foliage, as you get into the covering you feel a great relief to be out of the rain.
Magoo has been in worse weather and appears unaffected by the rain (CON 19+1=20). Come on folks, it's just a bit further, I can feel it? Did I ever tell you the story of ... He tries to keep up the spirits of his companions while not being too perky by telling tales of daring and adventure, changing the details as whim strikes him. He does however appreciate the dryness the forest cover eventually provides and flaps his arms in a futile attempt to get some dryness. The huge mushrooms are a potential concern to him, but then again, what isn't a potential concern in this unknown and strangely colored place. He attempts to apply what knowledge he has of nature and this place to learn what he can about the mushrooms (Nature 17).
Krakel is delighted to be out of the heavy rain, but has never seen a mushroom this big, and frankly already isn’t a fan of mushrooms. Knowing the pollen has been an issue makes him even more wary. “Are these the “trees” we’ve been looking for? Mushrooms are usually soft and mushy, I wouldn’t think they would burn or build well.”
Krakel will put down his bag and unlash his shield. “Do we plan to camp again or are we getting samples and trying to get back?”
Tori is going to try and collect pieces of wood without bothering the mushrooms. She'll even cast mending as she does to try and cause as little damage as possible
Lyra will also be checking the nearby plants to see if any would be suitable as wood. She'll avoid the mushrooms for now, since she doesn't' think they would work.
Krakel sees a spike covered “being” rush towards Lyra. He instinctively points his finger at the creature and speaks a few words, casting toll the dead.

damage:3 necrotic if it fails

Almost had a good roll, but then the dice flipped one more side and ended up on a 7, with total of 9 (rolled in the campaign log).
Looks like Lyra is exhausted...
(5 for exhaustion)
Tori is breathing heavily, she's never really trained for endurance
Con save:6
Being wet and marching so much has Krakel exhausted and longing for a warm soft rest. Camping quickly looses its novelty under poor conditions.
Over and around hills you go till finally you see a tree line as you get closer you notice some of the trees literally form a roof of leafy foliage, as you get into the covering you feel a great relief to be out of the rain.
In the distance a small clearing…

"I don't like the look of those..." Tori says, eyeing the clearing
Lyra does her best to try to estimate the possible harm these "tree" might cause by either pollen or moving.

Unfortunately, she didn't have much to go on. These are different from anything else she's seen or heard of...
As Magoo still in good spirits sees the mushrooms he is immediately reminded of a time he once seen a similar fungus used as an alarm…
shrieker fungus
there could be a trade value for such a specimen perhaps.
Map- the purple tokens are the shriekers the others are unnoticed as of yet.

Round one
Krakel is delighted to be out of the heavy rain, but has never seen a mushroom this big, and frankly already isn’t a fan of mushrooms. Knowing the pollen has been an issue makes him even more wary. “Are these the “trees” we’ve been looking for? Mushrooms are usually soft and mushy, I wouldn’t think they would burn or build well.”

Survival: 23
Lyra will also be checking the nearby plants to see if any would be suitable as wood. She'll avoid the mushrooms for now, since she doesn't' think they would work.
There are many large trees here easily 20’ tall with leaves about 3’ in diameter. As well as a variety of smaller specimen.
Krakel takes a moment to ready his shield…
Tori collect at least 3 nice logs (deadfall) they are surprisingly dense and heavy 30#.
Lyra looking at the trees gets just within range and the shrieker lets out an ear throbbing warble audible to anything within 300’.
She also then sees a spiky pine rush towards her…
Perception: 22
Krakel sees a spike covered “being” rush towards Lyra. He instinctively points his finger at the creature and speaks a few words, casting toll the dead.
