As Magoo disappears, Krakel and Tori begin casting spells and Lyra methodically checks rechecks and steadies her bow and focus.  All of you ‘hear’ the chitterlings of rats but the ‘sound’ is wrong… the rats are chittering in your minds!

Krakel you notice light blinking slowly on and off then you get a glimpse of this disturbing sight…

 Lyra you are very concerned about this fight something in your family history is bubbling up something you once heard your elder kin talking about…

Tori you have a deep sense of horror at the thought of all these tight slick areas.  The thoughts of slipping sliding falling at the wrong moment, to dance here will be a feat of absolute control and calculated movement, you try to center your mind just as a tickle wriggles in your mind!

Everyone make an Intelligence save DC 15 (OOC be ready for some roleplay opportunity as this opponent may manipulate some personal memories.  Think paranoia, fear, depression, hate…)  You may earn special rewards for this one.

“Be weary I just saw a light we may be close. There are foul rodents scurrying about off to the right of the tunnel, I fear our approach may have already been detected.” Krakel says quietly as he moves closer to the left wall. He raises his shield and readies his Morningstar to bash some rats if they approach. “I have no love for being this far underground, this feels as though we are walking into a nest of evil.”

Action readied:  True strike: smash rats if they enter my reach.  To hit: 21.  Damage: 7 radiant

Tori int save 14 + 4 from Bless (I think that's active if not 14)

*Tori starts to shuffle, stiffly. Reminded of the horrors of the first day her parents took her to ice skate and she fell through the ice*

Lyra Int roll 4 +1 for bless. She's fully affected...

Lyra sees hears smells feels and tastes every drop of her childhood memory.  Elven sanctuaries throughout time have guarded against threats from beyond the known aberrations only whispered about but none so tangible and dire as the illithid colonies…  Drow cities wiped from existence even surface elven realms  Forgotten by time, when illithids take over they don’t stop till every connected mind is collected till there is no one left to remember…  (Lyra’s mind has been compromised she is under a fear effect for 1 minute as she struggles to control her thoughts).

OOC  If you’d like to recount an experience or memory of Lyra’s past or even a phobia please do, perhaps this was a factor in her subclass selection.

Regardless it is clear that Lyra is wrestling with something…

Tori, creeped out as usual by the mental intrusion, does the thing she usually does when she's scared. She begins to think hard on a repetitive song she learned as a young child and begins to sing. "I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves, everybody's nerves, gets on everybody's nerves. I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves and this is how it goes... I know a song~" and she continues it on a loop as they progress forward.

Hearing Tori’s song in the darkness immediately takes Krakel back to his childhood. As a young halfling walking to the outhouse at night he would hum a tune loudly to “keep away the scary things”.  He was very grateful when his father first taught him the light spell. 

“It clearly knows we are here, but it shall not break our resolve. Let us fill its mind with the power of our spirit!” Krakel says and then begins humming along in tune with Tori’s melody. Allowing the song to center his mind and strengthen his resolve. 

Action: cast Toll the dead on the rat

wisdom save 15  or damage:8 necrotic

(As he moves along can Krakel make out any more lights or see what might be communicating with him?) 

As the bell tolls a light goes out and the other rat not knowing where the bell is ringing from goes scurrying down the slippery slope.

What was Tori’s attack?  Or do you command the cyborg to engage?

His hugging the wall has led him to a collection of boxes and barrels. While there may be goods of interest in them, he decides to wait to investigate them until the obvious threat is dealt with. Besides, the tolling of a bell and the singing of childish songs tells Magoo that trouble is afoot. Those, plus that weird voice inside his head. Well, yes, of course we have come to kill you. That is what we need to do to be safe, he thinks back. More concerning to him than the voice is that despite his good eyesight in the dark (60'), he cannot see what could be causing the issues. He decides that he must be in the wrong spot, so he moves move 40' to L33 (normal speed, stealth 14+3 Bless=17). He thinks back (Arcana 14) to try to remember if there are any creatures that scare Illithids.

 Tori's attack was an unarmed strike. She does engage the Cyborg, having it move side by side with her

(Is this cavern completely dark, or would we have any normal visibility) 

The cavern is completely dark.  The remaining cranium rat emits light 30’ around itself.  Magoo once he moves can see the illithid hovering in the air…
