So my husband and I purchased the DND Essentials Kit with the adventure Dragons of Icespire Peak. We tried to start out tonight after making a character for him (plus an NPC sidekick), while I was the DM, and we barely got through the first quest. What resources should I look into to better understand play? Also, how do you guys find groups to play with?
Over the last 20 years (or more) there have been a handful of 'series' on YouTube with the basics of playing D&D. How to prepare for a game as a GM, etc.
For beginners looking for a YouTube series to help with GMing Dungeons & Dragons, popular choices include , which provides philosophical and practical advice, andGinny Di's more creator-focused, sensitive, and clear content.
The biggest advice tends to be... do not overprepare but do not go in totally unprepared. :D
And... have fun. Have fun as a GM, storytelling a world in game and in the player's heads. Fun for them and fun for you.
