For now, we’ll only be playing the first book of the campaign, but I have high hopes that we’ll eventually make it through the entire campaign—and that the experience will be a truly positive one for you.
A few rules:
Please write in third person, past tense. Posts don’t have to be essays, but more than a single sentence is appreciated. Reflections, inner struggles, small details—let your character live on the page.
If you haven’t finished (or even started) your character sheet yet, now’s the time to do so at your own pace. I won’t need the full mechanics for my first two or three posts, but the sooner everything is ready, the better.
If you’d like, feel free to bold the names of characters you address or speak to in a scene.
Posting & pace:
Players: 4 days per rp round.
DM (me): 2 days.
If you all finish early, I’ll try to respond sooner.
Two unexcused absences = removal from the game (with a suitably brutal in-world death). Please just let me know if you’ll be away.
Gameplay & combat:
I’ll use Google Docs maps with tokens to show positions and combat.
Questions to NPCs can go directly in your posts; I’ll answer them in mine.
In combat, please post your actions within 24 hours to keep things moving.
I’ll share enemy ACs and save DCs so you can roll and resolve your own actions.
General rules:
Be respectful. Character conflicts are fine, but they should never bleed into OOC.
One warning for inappropriate behavior; repeat = removal.
If something in my post is unclear, just ask. I’ll add clarifying notes when needed.
No strict limit to one post per round, but avoid spam.
PvP and erotic scenes are not allowed.
Limited worldbuilding is fine, but don’t control my NPCs or other players’ characters.
Track your gold and equipment, but minor omissions aren’t a problem—unless the story establishes otherwise.
No metagaming: don’t override or ignore earlier posts, don’t read minds, and don’t use knowledge your PC doesn’t have. Knowledge rolls are there for a reason.
Story focus:
You’ll have a lot of freedom, but this campaign isn’t a sandbox. It works best if characters are motivated to engage with the main plot. Straying too far will simply write your PC out with an appropriate epilogue.
In your posts, try to include declarations so I can move the story forward. Please phrase actions so they aren’t automatically resolved—e.g. “He reached for the sword lying on the ground” instead of “He picked up the sword.” The sword might be too heavy, an illusion, shock you, or be taken by someone else.
That should cover everything for now. If I think of anything else, I’ll add it later.
Finally, I’d like everyone to confirm their readiness in this thread. My first post should be up tomorrow, along with atmospheric token portraits of your characters.
In your first posts, please describe your characters as others would see them, give us a glimpse of their personalities and thoughts, and feel free to ask Kendra anything you’d like.
I’ve also prepared avatars for your heroines—please use them in the game.
And of course, I wish you plenty of fun and the best of luck with your rolls. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
I’ll be waiting for your replies until Thursday at midnight.

If you go to Collections and do Create a Campaign, you can give us a link to join (better to pm it to us than post it, so random people don't also join). The threads are already good, but this will allow us to roll from our DDB character sheets while automatically saving it all in a game log for us. I prefer doing this and saying the results in my posts instead of rolling in threads because there are issues with numbers changing and other weird glitches when doing it that way.
It will also allow me to enable sharing for the source books I own on here (I think I have all of the ones you allowed for character creation) with everyone in case they need it. I noticed a character sheet was never posted for Rahela so that might help with character creation. Blood Hunter should be available automatically if you choose to allow Critical Role content when creating a character.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try to do it tomorrow, as it's already evening in my time zone and I'm exhausted from work and need to rest.

Excellent first post, DM! Very inspiring! Tokens are also great!
