*This is my first attempt at a Play-By-Post, and I'm on sporadically, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to join or not.*
Thread Rules:
1. No discrimination. Period. Not against gender/gender identity/religion/play style; NOTHING.
2. Steer well clear of any 13+ content (as 13 is the youngest you can post on the forums, and we should be inclusive of all ages). Violence is acceptable, as it's D&D.
3. Respect others. You don't have to like them, just don't be an absolute jerk. Even with justification. (Except in character; I mean to other posters)
4. Put out-of-character (OOC) statements in-between asterisks, like below:
*Should Farinael cast Fireball even though it would hit Jin? I think it fits his personality, but don't want to do it if you aren't okay with it.*
Setting Details/Description:
*Heavily inspired by Out of the Abyss and the unofficial 'Doomed Forgotten Realms'.*
A few years ago, an ambitious drow summoned the demon lords to the Underdark. There, they fought, both among each other and with the local denizens. A group of heroes was hired to solve the problem - very much the default solution in the Forgotten Realms. The first demon lord to be removed was the Demon Queen of Fungi, Zuggtmoy. Back in the Abyss, she took advantage of the other demon lords' absence. She conquered their empty layers one by one, and then came to the only one not summoned to the Material Plane... Lolth. Lolth was hatching several new demons in an attempt to do what Zuggtmoy herself had just done. Zuggtmoy overpowered Lolth in her weakened state, and then settled in to wait. As the other demon lords were defeated and banished back to the Abyss, Zuggtmoy destroyed them. Soon, the Abyss was unquestionably under her control. United, the demons soon fought back the forces of the 9 Hells, overtaking Avernus. Zuggtmoy corrupted Zariel, breaking her mind even further, using her as a general to lead the demons against the other devils. Asmodeus watched as his generals fell one by one... and then Zuggtmoy arrived at his castle. Though nearly destroyed in the process, even with an army at her back, she defeated him. From there, she spread into the Material Plane. There, she finally carried out her plan to bond with Araumycos, growing even more powerful, and developing a link to the Astral Plane. From there, she bound the godly realms in Faerzyress, stopping any communication with them, and inhibiting travel. She has now been destroying worlds for years, leaving only Wildspace largely intact. Spelljamming ships are now the only civilization remaining, and even now are falling to her corrupted Myconid servants.
Perhaps one of the most famous spelljamming ships is the mindflayer pirate ship Anarharack, a Nautiloid. Flying through the void for years, capturing life from almost every known world and imprisoning them in extra-dimensional spaces. Though seeming evil at first glance, a deeper look suggests a possibility of good - what if they're gathering heroes, preserving them until they have a chance of success? Of course, they could just be evil pirates capturing others to feel strong, and sure of their own capabilities. Or, perhaps, neither is true, perhaps they are a bunch of charlatans pulling off a scam on a cosmic level... but that seems unlikely. Nonetheless, they are known throughout the Fungal Void (as Wildspace is now called). Dodging dead planets overtaken by fungal forests, slipping by prowling Myconid ships loyal to Zuggtmoy, and raiding any other spelljamming ships they come across, they travel to an unknown destination... and goal. What few hubs of civilization remain label them as disturbers of the peace and outlaws. Oddly, this has led to them becoming exceedingly popular among the poor of the Fungal Void, who often speculate about what the Anarharack's purpose is.
The pirates are secretly Changelings [Commoners with a Ring of Mind Shielding, Gloves of Thievery, a Charisma of 12 (+1), and proficiency in both Deception and Performance (+3 to each)] They disguise themselves as Mindflayers to convince their captives that fighting back would be far too dangerous - thereby quashing rebellion before it has even begun. The Anarharack has several closets with Demiplane spells cast on them, rendered permanent by magic channeled from dead and forgotten gods. Each closet door, as a precaution, is sealed by an Arcane Lock, allowing only Changelings through. These 'closet domains', as they are called, are for the most dangerous captives, too mighty to simply be confined to the brig. Each of these extra-planar cells is customized for its captive; if they have behaved well, it is perfect for them; otherwise, it resembles the things they hate and fear the most.
Character Creation Rules:
You can either create a 1st-level character using any official 5E D&D product published by Wizards of the Coast (using the 2014 ruleset), my homebrew Grippli race (inspired by the monster of the same name in Candlekeep Mysteries), or...
You may play as one of the Changelings. Apply their ability score increases as you wish to the Commoner stat block, and choose any two skill proficiencies rather than the limited choices of the Changeling Instincts trait. You also possess a Ring of Mind Shielding and Gloves of Thievery. Unlike regular characters, you are a member of the ships' crew, and thus know of the true nature of the Anarharack. You also may be targeted by regular players; keep this is mind when choosing to be a Changeling crew member.

Goobertio is my hired goon (probably paid), and this is my extended signature: (^v^)
Also, I am a narcissist, used to be aromantic (maybe still am? I dunno...) and 100% a nerd. But, like, a really weird one. More weird than most.
