"I do have to make a ride back into town today," the farmer says, turning to Kravik once more. "If you all wish to return, then the least I could do for you would be to give you a ride in the old cart."
Kravik settles back in his chair, considering where to start.
"I come from the south, in a volcanic area where there aren't a lot of others around," he begins. "I'm of the Stonefire Clan, one of just a few clans in the area. Not a lot of us leave the hills and caves, but I felt my path lied elsewhere."
He pauses. "A few years ago, I swore an oath to honor the balance of the four elements, through the guidance of the Noble Genies. I'll forever be tied to the flame, but I've learned that fire alone, without balance, causes only destruction." He seems to shift his hands subconsciously at this.
"I came to Lyrey because I'd heard tales of it; a place where fae and mortals live in harmony. I wanted to see it for myself, as it seems like the a good place to live a life of balance." He smiles slightly. "Though I lost my wagon to some forest creatures along the way, which is how I ended up walking into town looking for work."
He glances toward his companions. "Met Aydlott and Vulcan at the tavern that same morning. Your daughter connected us with you, and here we are."
"Any particular reason you chose fire? I would choose wind, but I might be biased as a sailor. Oh - I'm Brink by the way" Bugbear extends his right hand in greeting.
"Well met, Brink," Kravik says, taking his hand and shaking off the strangeness of meeting someone new in the farmer's house this morning. With a smile he continues, "I didn't exactly choose fire; it's part of my lineage. Everyone in my clan can trace their ancestors back to fire giants. The flame will always be part of me, but I've learned to balance it with the other elements."
He pauses, moving his hands and chanting something under his breath. When he's finished, he continues, "And that includes the wind." A light breeze passes through the room.
Aydlott turns large, grateful, drunken eyes on Kravik. "Thank you," he says. "I'm at a loss. I can use all the help I can get." He pushes his glass towards the farmer for a refill. He blinks a bit blearily at the newcomer.
Kravik's eyes widen at Aydlott's tale. "That's certainly a problem we'll need to resolve, sooner rather than later, I'd think. I'll lend whatever aid you need, if you'd like."
Turning to the farmer, he says, "I'll take a glass, as well, and drink to Aydlott's continued health! As for my wagon, I was attacked by some creatures I hadn't seen before while traveling through a forest on my way to Lyrey. I fought them off as best I could, but in the process they killed my horses and broke apart my wagon. They destroyed most of my supplies, too. I gathered up what I could and continued my journey on foot. I will say I've been a bit more wary of anything I see or hear since then."
(OOC: I do want to respond to @Arcanmas as well, as I don't want them feeling left out, but I don't think we've officially met them yet. Is this someone from the other group? I just want to make sure the story flows.)
(OOC: Yeah, they're one of the two from the other group. I didn't necessarily expect that they'd just pop in, but, since Vulcan's essentially left, I guess we'll replace him with Brink.)
The farmer nearly falls out of his seat as Kravik calls the wind. "Uh...fire...wind..." he mumbles in his drunken stupor, pouring Aydlott another shaky glass. He breathes deeply for a few seconds, then regains himself. "Tha's very interesting. Very interesting. So your...c-clan...has mastery of all the elements?"

Kravik takes another drink. "Oh, no," he explains. "We have some mastery over fire, and we respect the other elements, but we don't have any control over them. Whatever control I exert is a gift from the Noble Genies. I serve them, and in turn, the balance of the world around me."
He closes his eyes in thought and rubs his hands subconsciously. "Fire melts the earth to create new stone. Water tempers the blade that fire forges or extinguishes the fire altogether. Air feeds the flame. No element stands alone." He opens his eyes and looks around. "My father would tell me that, and the Noble Genies have shown me the truth of his words."
The farmer ponders on this for a moment. "S-sounds very curious, your clan's theories." He rubs his head. "Mind if I take a nap? Feel free to make yourselves some more food, as well as looking around. We'll load up the cart and head off afterwards."

"I'd like a nap too," Aydlott says, enthusiastically, as he downs his second helping of the liquor. "Just an hour. That's all. Don't leave without me, Kravik." With that, Aydlott pushes his empty glass aside, puts his head down on the table, and a moment later is fast asleep and snoring.
As Tobias drinks and observes his environment he slips ups, and it become clear he is watching the short adventurer in the bar.

The man looks back, but seems to pass it off. Momo, you notice the figure across the room glancing at you once more, but their intentions don't seem malicious, merely curious.
The farmer, unlike Aydlott, has the strength to amble towards his room before more snores are added to the cacophony, and Kravik and Brink are left sitting alone at the table --- well, not alone, but awake. As they look at each other, the moment silent, a loud knock sounds on the door, and you hear a thud as the farmer rolls out of bed. "Wha...who's there?" he bellows.
The door cracks open just an inch, and part of the face of an armored figure sticks itself in. "On'y the town Watch, sir! We've been searching for a stolen horse..." comes the muffled voice, making its way through the small house admirably. "It's s'posed to be large - very large, and brown with white spots? Kravik nods noncommittally. He takes another sip and thinks that he may need to ask his friend a question or two when he wakes back up.
Several hours pass, and, finally, the farmer wakes --- although Aydlott not quite yet. "Well, feeling a...bit better--" and he stumbles here, catching himself on the side of a chair--- "--maybe not. Just no loud noises, alright? And your friend -- wake him while I'm loading the cart, unless he wants to walk back."

The song ends, and the curtains on the stage close. People clap, then return to their drinks ---- but, all of a sudden, Momo's view of Tobias is obstructed by a tall, hulking figure. As he tries to look around, trying to see if the man is still reciprocating his gaze, he draws the creature's attention.
"Oy!"it bellows, squatting down to look at Momo. Definitely a goliath --- the markings on his face, fresh with some sort of paint give it away. "You lookin' at me funny, dwarf? Who d'you think you are?"

Kravik acknowledges the farmer. "I'll be sure he's awake. He DOES have a horse if it comes to that, but I'm not so sure about whether or not he'll want to be seen with it."
While the farmer loads, Kravik will check on Aydlott.
(In the bar): Momo being a Gnome hears the goliath, but decides to ignore him from an outsider POV. With minimal head movement, he ensures his shield can be quickly grabbed as well as his ruck sack.
Aydlott doesn't even stir when the town watch bangs on the door, but when Kravik attempts to rouse him some time later, he groans groggily and says, without lifting his head from the table, "I didn't steal the horse."

"Well that's good to hear," Kravik responds. "But still a bit worrisome, since I didn't ask." He chuckles. "I'm glad you didn't steal it, but unfortunately the Watch may think differently. We'll have to travel back to town with care."
The goliath, luckily, turns away from Momo ---- only to begin to crack its knuckles as it stares at Tobias. "Heh," it rumbles. "I don't want to cause problems, but it seems like you're looking for some. Why don't you back away...right now...and I can settle this with my new acquaintance?"
And then chaos erupts behind him, with shouts, screams, and the shattering of broken glass echoing through the room. Ember, Kyvir's familiar, runs around, a fiery blur of smoke and ash as it darts under tables and between the legs of horrified passerby. "Huh?" shouts the goliath, and lurches backwards as a man comes toppling into him.
The farmer calls from outside --- "All ready! Let's get on our way!" --- and you follow, picking up your things and walking out to the cart.
The ride is idyllic, yet melancholy at the same time. As the cart slowly rolls down the dirt road, it seems as if it'll last forever --- the buildings far ahead never quite getting closer as the sun begins to fall. Dusk begins to creep across the plains, and the forest off to your left rings with birdcalls as the air slows to a drowse.
All of a sudden, the farmer shouts, "Whoa!" The cart jerks to a sudden halt. Looking at what stopped it, you see all of a sudden ---- oh, wait! A man lies, cloak unfurled, sprawled lifeless across the path.
"What...is this?" The farmer carefully steps out, approaching the body. "Wait...there's a note. It says..." he coughs for a second, in apparent disbelief---- "...remember what you've done. We have not forgotten."
He looks up at you three in the cart. "Kravik, I know I told you I made bad connections," he says, fear growing in his voice. "But I promise you, I didn't do anything this bad."

Tobias rises slowly, unhurried, setting his glass down with deliberate calm. Without looking at Kyvir, he murmurs low enough not to carry,
"Kyvir, We can't loose this guy, if things look like they are gonna get dicey make a distraction"
He walks over and into the edge of the confrontation, not between them but just enough to be noticed.
“Easy,” he says lightly. “If staring were a crime in here, we’d all be guilty. Half the room was doing it when that that lovely lady was on stage?”
His eyes flick briefly to Momo, measuring him.
“Friend of mine’s has just had a long night. He didn’t mean offense.”
Then, to the goliath:
“No need to make it one.”
Tobias shifts his weight subtly, balanced and ready, prepared.
