Sorry I'm taking so long, I ran into some technical problems. I will post my character first thing tomorrow morning. Please keep a spot open for me. I have good knowledge of Middle Earth and I will be able to post at least once a day most of the time.
Sorry I'm taking so long, I ran into some technical problems. I will post my character first thing tomorrow morning. Please keep a spot for me. I have good knowledge of Middle Earth and the pacing of the game is fine for me, but I can also post at least once a day most of the time if necesarry.
I am a huge geek for all things Tolkien and know tons about the lore and history of Arda. To play in a a game set in it would be a dream come true. Although I am new here, I have extensive PbP roleplaying experience on the website NationStates.
Borin is a dwarf barbarian who hails from the Orocarni, red mountains inhabited by dwarves in the far east of Middle-earth. In recent years, Easterlings have been enroaching on the Red Dwarves's borders as the Shadow's influence grew. Being from an important family, Borin became a captain of the dwarves's forces, eager to crush the bones of his enemies. Borin's rise to fame began when he slew a powerful Easterling warlord, turning the tide of a key battle. Soon, he was chosen to attend a secret council in Helm's Deep to combat the growing threat of Mordor...

If you can turn on content sharing when we join the campaign, I would like to go for Path of the Totem Warrior instead of the Berserker, but refluffed.
Here is my character. Gilraen Rhodhelm. Half Elven fighter from Rohan. Dismissed from the Riddermark for questioning Grima Wormtongue, now wandering around trying to find a way to stop the evil creeping in from the East.
It's currently a champion archetype. If content sharing is turned on I would like to change that to Battlemaster.
Death Grips, I'm not sure if you can access my backstory. If not, I can send it to you another way.
I'm not sure how to unlock it, but if you have a master tier subscription to D&DBeyond and are in a campaign with other people (do you know how to create a campaign?), it should be an option. I didn't know you needed a master subscription, so if you don't have one, that's fine; I'll keep track of my character in Notability.
I couldn't log into my account for whatever reason, so I had to make a new one with a slightly different name.
Have any of you heard of Adventures in Middle-earth by Cubicle 7? It's basically 5th edition D&D adapted into a Middle-earth setting. Can I use one of the classes from there?

Yes you can. I've heard of it, but I'm not too fond of it (mainly because they aren't nearly as close to the lore (or my version)) as I'd like, so I'd prefer to use my homebrew as a base.
But sure, if you want to, you can use it.

hey kids do you like violence? wanna see me shove nine inch nails through each one of my eyelids?

That could be really interesting if we all can do it. We can hombrew both the “Races” and the “classes” and bring it to the game.
Alternatively you can homebrew your own races/classes. I've already done a few enemies. While this in the long term might delay the campaign, if most people agree this could make it even more fun.

Do you still have vacancies in the campaign. I'm a great fan of LoTR. Happy to generate whatever character is needed to balance out the party but ever since my first character in AD&D back in 1981 - yes I'm an Old Fart - was a dwarf fighter called Smaug, I have always had a soft spot for dwarves. If bards are allowed I'm thinking of a Dwarvish Bard (College of Valour) -lvl 3 /Fighter - lvl 2.
Here are his stats assume its drop one '1'
Ability scores: 18129161612
Still working on developing Rangrim's background but depending on when the campaign is set, he is a Master Piper and is a trusted adviser to King Dain Ironfoot and fought at his side in the Battle of the Five Armies. Upon a request from xxx he has been sent as one of the Dwarvish representatives to particpate in the mission.
How close to LoTR weapons and armour are we sticking. Ideally Rangrim would have a Breastplate but happy to go with a Chain Shirt if that is truer to the campaign
I think I will actually play a Barding Foehammer Slayer from Adventures in Middle-earth. I am going for a super tanky build.
Also, will we be able to have plate armor? The Haradrim seem to have had bronze corslets.
"Then suddenly straight over the rim of their sheltering bank, a man fell, crashing through the slender trees, nearly on top of them. He came to rest in the fern a few feet away, face downward, green arrow-feathers sticking from his neck below a golden collar. His scarlet robes were tattered, his corslet of overlapping brazen plates was rent and hewn, his black plaits of hair braided with gold were drenched with blood. His brown hand still clutched the hilt of a broken sword" (The Two Towers).
Prince Imrahil also had vambraces.
The way I see it that was although that plate armor was uncommon and not mass-produced, it did exist.
I have created a character using the Adventures in Middle-earth Player's Guide. He is a Barding (descendants of Bard, who now live in Dale) Foehammer (Slayer subclass that uses heavy armor) Slayer (Adventures in Middle-earth's version of the Barbarian class) named Odvarr. Disregard my old character, Borin.
As the Shadow's influence grows, Easterlings have began making raids on Dale and enroaching on its borders. Being from an important family, Odvarr became a captain of the Dalish forces, eager to smite the enemies of the Free Peoples. Odvarr's rise to fame began when he slew a powerful Easterling warlord during a defense from an Easterling raid. Soon, he was chosen to attend a secret council in Helm's Deep to combat the growing threat of Mordor...
Also, could you give us the particular year that this campaign is set to begin in?

Einiorion I've always thought that reference related more to something like scale armour rather than full plate.

That's probably true. I'll have crazy AC without plate armor anyway, and it doesn't need to be even higher.
Also, concerning the palantíri, wouldn't the Ithil-stone be at Barad Dûr? I doubt Sauron would travel all the way to Minas Morgul to use the palantír.

I'm not exactly sure, but 2968, when Frodo is born.

That affects Éohild's backstory. In 2968 TA, Théoden would not be king of Rohan yet, as Thengel, his father, would still be the king. Gríma only begins to gain power over Théoden in 3014. Denethor would not be the Steward yet, as his father Ecthelion would be the Steward.

PbP Character: A few ;)
Awin the elven Kensai monk using a longsword and long bow.
Drualdin the dwarvish ancestrial guardian
Ill fill them more out if you like the base concepts and want me to join.

Whilst you are probably right! Be careful what you ask for. Assaulting Minas Ithil is going to be bad enough let alone going after Barad Dûr!
