You’ve lost track of the days and nights down here in the Underdark, but the five of you are being held here with ten other prisoners by a contingent of Drow warriors, loyal to Mistress lvara, a cruel Drow priestess. After you were drugged and captured all of your possessions and money were taken by the drow, leaving you with nothing but a tattered tunic and your underclothes to wear. During the “day,” you and the other prisoners have been split into random groups of four or five, and set to menial tasks moving rocks, cooking meals, and emptying chamber pots, all while under heavy guard, and often to the jeers and insults of the Drow guarding you.
You did not all arrive together, but within a few days of each other. Some of the other prisoners have been here for over a tenday. You get the sense that prisoners don’t stick around too long before they expire from exhaustion, or are killed by the guards. Over a couple of days of working and sleeping, you get to know your fellow prisoners:
Bupiddo - a male derro. Older and a bit mad. He tends to point out how outnumbered you are versus the drow forces.
Prince Derendil - a hulking quaggoth who has a menacing look. Strangely though, he only speaks Elvish, and claims to be an elf prince, transformed by a curse.
Eldeth Fedrun - a female shield dwarf from Guantlygrm. She seems spirited and proud, but longs to return home.
Jimjar - a male deep gnome with a bit of a devil-may-care attitude.
Ront - a male orc. Acts mean and tough, but cowers under threat from the guards. He’s often seen bullying Eldeth.
Sarith Kzekarit - a male drow. Imprisoned for murdering a fellow drow warrior, but claims not to remember doing it. He is being held until he can be taken back to Menzoberranzan and sacrificed to Lloth.
Shuushar the Awakened - a kuo-toa who claims to be enlightened, and a complete pacifist. He believes he can return to his people and save them from their madness.
Stool - a myoconid sprout who had been captured by Sarith before Sarith himself was brought to the prison camp.
Topsy and Turvy - a brother and sister deep gnome pair. Topsy does most of the talking, while her brother just mutters and mumbles under his breath most of the time.
The adventure begins with all of you together, in chains, in the slave pen. It is almost time for the work day to begin. Three Drow guards watch you from outside the locked gate of the cave entrance. The slave pen is protected by an anti-magic zone, preventing you from casting any spells.
During your time being put to work you've managed to tuck away a few random items that the guards haven't noticed (I added them to your sheets), and Lucky has even found a small Tarantula that he calls Leggy, who hangs around on his shoulder's and eats bugs that Lucky feeds it.
Rhogar will stretch, and try to rub the dirt from his crimson eyelids. Looking over he will spot leggy munching a bug and feel a slight hint of jealousy. Unable to summon his familiar back from the pocket dimension for the owl he created during his capture. If only my magic worked Rhogar... would think to himself.
Looking from Leggy to Lucky, Rhogar will whisper... "PSST... you figure a way out of here yet? I managed to snag 5ft of rope during out last work shift"
Lucky, happily feeding his new little buddy, he named Leggy, leans in to hear Rhogar whisper to him.
"Not yet but I'm thinking the Drow that's stuck in here has the most knowledge of what's outside the cell, and the most to lose if we can't break out. The rest of the crowd could be valuable, but most of them look like a risk...although...that hulking mass of muscle that claims to be an elf might prove useful. Who knows, maybe he is a prince?"
Lucky goes back to feeding his little friend that seems to be scavenging for food while Lucky's attention was drawn towards Rhogar.
Rhogar will then slide over to the hulking quaggoth. Whispering in elvish, he will try to get his attention. Excuse me Prince Derendil, Lucky and I have been trying to devise a way out of our current predicament. Perhaps you have an idea as to how to get out of here?
The Prince responds to you in Elvish, "I'm afraid not my good sir, but I am ever vigilant. We must all keep our eyes and our minds sharp. These cursed Drow will slip up eventually, and we must seize whatever opportunities come our way." and he smiles at you with a large mouth full of fangs.
Lucky makes a motion with his index finger to Leggy, indicating something to the effect of "Heads up, little buddy, we're about to move. Be on the alert." Then Lucky, while internally very cautious, tries to appear very casual in his advance towards the traitorous Drow.
In a voice that he hopes only Sarith can hear, Lucky says, "You don't know me, and I don't know you. We're in here until we die, or we escape. Are you willing to join forces to escape? Or have you resigned yourself to a sacrificial death at the hands of your captors? Escape with us. Once we're out, we go our separate ways."
Lucky is pulling as much charisma and persuasion as he can muster in his attempt to gain Sarith's assistance to escaping this cell. Even Leggy seems to be doing his best with all the eyes at his disposal, sitting perched atop Lucky's shoulder.
Thank you friend, I will keep you up posted, Rhogar will reply with a gentle nod. A moment later he will scan the slave pen and start shuffling towards other prisoners in the room.
As he surveys the scene Recwyin shuffles towards Eldeth trying not to look like he is intentionally moving towards her. In dwarvish he quietly asks her.
Girl, I can see you don't want to die here. Can you help, perhaps distracting the guards? The orc is weaker than he wants to appear stand up to him when he taunts you next. If any of us are free we might overpower them while they are amused.
Eldeth ponders what Recwyin said for a moment, then says "I'll see what I can do, if the moment calls for it. But promise me something, if I don't make it out of here, try to get to Gauntlgrym and tell my family what happened to me."
You have all made attempts over the past few days to remove your shackels, but have so far had no luck. You have an iron collar around your neck, and manacles on your wrists that are attached to a chain that attaches to a loop around your waists. You still have enough movement to perform simple tasks.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Garruk wakes up from a fitful sleep, tries his bonds as he does every morning, and then searches around the slave pits for anything that may prove to be useful: extra food, water, any sticks or sharpened rocks he may be able to use.
Investigation: 4
This done, he stays to the side, listening to the others talk of escape. Although he does not engage in conversation to avoid being implicated if the Drow catch wind of the plan, he silently decides that if the moment arises, he will assist.

Recwyin knows the guards will return soon, he doesn't know how many more work shifts until he dies of exhaustion or is sacrificed. He decides to hide in the corner. He hasn't decided yet on attacking the guards or trying to get away.
Recwyin - you shuffle over to the corner farthest from the gate. Hoping to not get noticed when the guards come around for work duty.
Lucky - Sarith grunts and you and turns away. You can't remember if you've hear him say anything since he was thrown in here just yesterday. Or was it two days ago?
A small slot opens under the gate. And a guard slides a few trays of the thin mushroom broth which is the only thing they've fed you since you got here. He says "Need six for work in twenty minutes. Be ready." you know from previous experience that if 6 people aren't standing ready for work when the gate opens next, you'll all be punished.
From his corner Recwyin can see the slot open and he can smell the broth. Hunger comes into his decision process. He is farthest from the gate, it seems unlikely that he can dash out unnoticed when the work detail is taken, and he is hungry. Hungrier than he wants to admit even to himself. Reluctantly he comes forward to claim his meal. Standing facing the gate he waits with his rope tucked away hoping it was worth the risk grabbing it on his last shift.

I also have a bit of rope, it's not much but it could tie up a guard if we got the drop on him...I wonder if I can get loose of these chains.
