”I told you we shouldn’t be getting involved into these cave people’s business. Sticking our necks on the line for what? To face a monster like that! This is what happens when you close you ears to logic and begin to listen to illusions of grandeur.”
You all paddle away as quickly as you can. Back out into the Darklake, leaving the monstrosity behind. Topsy speaks up after a while, "We came to the ship after that fish woman gave us these." and she holds out a folded up sort of canvas, and a strange small strange feather. "She said it would help our boat go faster, but we weren't quite sure how."
The folded canvas appears to be just that. It is several pieces of fabric sewn together. The other item has a very small metal clasp that is holding a few feathers in a fan shape.
Topsy adds, ""She said we had to throw it in the air."
(I'm assuming 10 minutes has now passed since being afflicted by the madness)
Lucky jumps into the boat frantically searching for the dead fish tossed in by Rhogar. Finding it after a brief search, picking up slowly with both hands as if he'd finally reached the end of his life-long quest for his holy grail-fish, he starts to come to his senses. Realizing he'd almost (many times) taken a dangerously large bite of rotting fish, Lucky tosses the fish overboard and looks towards Rhogar while choking back tears of gratefulness.
"Thank you, my friend. That would have been a tragic misstep in this bard's otherwise legendary tale of heroism and adventure. I truly and in your debt." Lucky says to Rhogar with sincere appreciation.
Rhogar will smile at Lucky. "no problem friend." before a look of concern spread across his face "looks like your friend didn't mind though..." Rhogar will point to the point to leggy as he sinks his spider fangs into a rotting fish eye and begins to suck out the putrid juices...
Garruk morphs back into his dwarven form. “Why doesnt someone ask our mushroom friend? We can still travel to his city, work out a way to the surface, and be out of here before that... thing can catch up to us.”
Stool spins around one way, then a bit back the other way, like a compass finding north. "This way! It's this way. Come on let's go it's over there!"
Turvy has been looking at the canvas for a bit, while his sister played around with the small feather fan. "Its a sail, I think, though this boat isn't a sail boat. Do you think this fan could make enough wind to move us along?"
only one way to find out. Let's secure a spare oar and we can rig a mast. I have some rope to attach the canvas. Turn us in the direction stool wants. When the sail is ready use the feather.
It takes some time to rig up the sails, but after a while you're all happy with them, you even set up a rope on each side to steer. After some experimentation with the feather token you all find that by tossing it lightly into the air it disappears and becomes a strong breeze, and can be recalled back into a feather with a wave of your hand. You align the boat with the direction that Stool provided and set off back into the Darklake.
(Not sure if anyone else is still wounded) Recwyin looks to his friends ready to cast cure wounds 9 and after being satisfied that all are well he finds a comfortable corner of the boat to rest in casually adding to the carving on his longbow.
**You can all take a long rest of you want. It will take some time to travel across the lake. **
Hours and hours go by, travelling by sail is much easier, you only have to stop occasionally to row through tight areas. You can all occasionally make out some new types of plants, fungus and strange creatures as you go. But nothing much of interest happens for a while.
After a while while traveling down a wide stream you can make out a small hut, on the edge of the water. There's smoke coming from a little chimney and a sort of mushroom garden nearby.
Bigsby hops aboard

You aren't wrong. Not even a little, BUT this may not be the time. Once we're away from this you may lecture away at will. For now grab an oar.

Did anybody figure out which way to go, besides anyway from there?

What do you say Stool? Can we get you home from here? If no one objects you just have to give us a direction.
Stool spins around one way, then a bit back the other way, like a compass finding north. "This way! It's this way. Come on let's go it's over there!"

Rhogar will try to get the fan to work (arcana 8) and push us in the correct direction.

No longer needing to row, Garruk leans against the edge of the boat, lost in thought.
**Taking a short rest while we have the oppertunity**

Seeing the first anything of interest in some time Recwyin looks for any sign of life other than the smoke, or possible danger.
