Before tossing over the body Bigsby casts disguise self to look like the guard they knocked unconscious armor, weapons in hilt and everything. “I didn’t dress like him, but I think this will do”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bigsby, disguised as a drow leads the party into the barracks, now deserted. Once he sees that it's not a trap he waves the all-clear to everyone. There are 4 beds in here, each with a small chest at the end holding personal belongings. There's also a larger storage box near the back after you all root through the boxes and spread out the loot , you have :(another shortsword, 100feet of rope with a grappling hook on one end, 2 sets of clothing, a glass eye, a flask of drow poison, 20 more bolts, 17 silver pieces and 9 gold peices.
Also Garrick you recognize your shield, original Druidic focus and your bear cloak
Rhogar you notice your spell book, orb and Backpack
Bigsby sees his holy symbol, his Prayer wheel and his mace
Recwyin finds his longbow.and 20 arrows
Lucky finds his Shawm, Rapier and woodcarving tools
Jimjar picks up two ornately carved daggers, twirls them around in his fingers and says, "Alright, let's go"
Lucky picks up the additional crossbow bolts. Then lets Leggy down near a corner to hunt a bit while they decide on the next move.
"Should we let the captives out of their cells? Or should we leave them to their fates and look for the nearest escape route?" Lucky asks of the group.
Garruk quickly grabs his cloak, inspecting it while grumbling in dwarvish. “They better not have touched this, the heathens. So much as one mark and I’ll kill them all.” Once he is satisfied that the cloak is in it’s proper condition, he dons it, grabs his shield and focus (while still retaining the other in case of emergencies). “I say we go free the others. It shouldn’t be too hard, we are all expected back at the slave pits sooner than later and we do have a ‘guard’ to escort us.” He nods to Bigsby before continuing. “We pretend to be returning from the work detail, jump the guards once we get close enough, and spring the rest of the slaves. We stand a better chance in a fight if they are either running amok or adding to our strength.”
Lucky nods in agreement and says, "I like that plan. Let's free the other captives and let chaos reign down upon the guards."
Leggy found a nice juicy bug to eat behind one of the beds. After finishing his meal, he scurries back up to Lucky's shoulder and nods in agreement, belly very full and satisfied.
You all noted that to get back to the slave pen, you'll have to make your way along a pathway that passes in front of two guard towers that are located in stalactites above the chasm. You also had to cross a bridge into the largest stalactite which is the main guard tower. And cross another bridge back the the pathway where the pen is located. You could avoid the main guard tower by attempting to cross where a waterfall streams out of the cavern wall, but that would be very difficult as well.
“You know esteemed gentleman, I do recall it was quite a journey to get here from the pens. I think we stand a better chance... just walking out. I will be escorting you for a special assignment topside. Wear the chains but keep them unlocked.” Bigsby says to the group.
Lucky, being never the pragmatic one, speaks from his heart, "Oh, a cold day it is when the Bard of the group chooses the path least cowardly, my friends. Do you not remember laying on the hard, bumpy stone floors of our cell? The smell of rotting flesh from those less fortunate in the cells next to ours? What cruel tortures we endured, are the same as those poor wretches we would leave behind. Nay, I cannot speak for the group as it's leader, but as a man*cough* Erm, person, sorry. As a person, with a heart, who stands for justice and mercy, I implore you all to end this maddening dungeon. Let's be worthy of our names and our forefathers this day! We strike at the heart and still the beating of it forever!"
After being overly dramatic, as he often is, Lucky attempts to rally the group together with a unifying purpose.
"Of course, I'll nevertheless support the group's majority decision. Safety in numbers, my father always used to say!"
If spiders were known to cry, one would almost see the tears from Leggy's many eyes, truly moved by his hero.
Rhogar will look to his companions. When his gaze stops on Lucky, he will give him a nod and a small smile. Looking to Bigsby and Recwyin, dissapointment and anger flood his face. "I was a slave once.... for years I did not know freedom... and I fear that I may never have know freedom again if not for the kindness of one individual. Rhogar will pull out his dagger and point it at each of his companions. "IT IS UP TO US to stop these drow, and IT IS UP TO US to free the others unless you would rather sentence them all to death. He will pause a moment, trying to keep calm and lower his voice. I would much prefer to sentence each of our drow captures to death and carry out the sentence myself. Now I say we make our way back to the prisoners stopping at each tower eliminating the threats and collecting weapons and armor so that we can supply our own army in the slave pens and march our way out of here.... NOW WHAT DO YOU SAY?! Sut, still standing on his shoulder will let out a loud screech and spread his large smokey wings out behind him as Rhogar again raises his voice.
** Rhogar would have taken his gear from the locker and distributed the gold evenly, sorry I didn't get to post last night **
Something about the better part of valor....ehh. This morning we were as good as dead. I still think pressing on is the best long term choice but if the group goes so do i.
Bigsby shakes his head “I don’t believe you understand the gravity of the situation. We are not talking about a few drow. A number far greater than us with greater weaponry. I understand you have connected with these people and you remember back when you were a slave. If we continue down this course of action you will become a corpse.... a forgotten one at that. We are faced with hard decisions from time to time. If we get out now that’s an inspiration to the rest to know it’s possible, if we go back in and die then all hope is lost for everyone.”
Recwyin - There are 2 routes that might lead out of the cavern, 1 way following the way Jorlan and the other 2 Drow went. The other way is you would have to scale down into the chasm a ways and then make your way around the other side but you would be very exposed for a long time. To get back to the slave pen, there are also 2 ways. following back the way you came here, or trying to scale the walls across the waterfall that comes out of the cave walls.
Rhogar will lock eyes with Bigsby, trying to keep his calm. "Yes, we may be an inspiration that escape is possible.... Until they increase the number of guards to prevent it from happening again.... Until they are worked to death under the increased demands of their captures after losing half their work force..." Rhogar will pause a moment before continuing, getting a little closer to Bigsby but still making sure to stay out of his personal space... "Our escape will be the death of the other captives... one way or another unless we save them now.. before the drow know we are gone.
Rhogar will turn his back and start to walk towards a large rock to sit on, on the way there he will say over his shoulder "A hero in death is a hero eternal... cowardice for a day... is a fate worse than death."
guys, IF we go back we can go the way we came under-armed, attacking guards hoping they dont alert others or try the walls and get around that way. Also remember, your magics didn't work in the slave pens. We can go that way to who knows where but the path is exposed. We need to decide. Eventually the guards will return or more will come looking and we loose the element of surprise

I'd happily loose an arrow to free the rest...

It will be hard to free the other slaves...now. If we escape the focus will be on us buying them time. Maybe we need to press on.
Recwyin looks for a route not back to the slaves.
