So I'm a relatively new DM. I ran a group through a heavily customized version on Lost Mines of Phandelver and it went better than expected. My gf and a few friends are interested in playing for the first time and as a potential "forever DM" if its going to happen it'll most likely be because I'm going to run it.
A one shot would probably be ideal, as I don't want to do a ton of world building for a one-off. I also, want them to get a good grasp of what the game is like, but over one or two sessions. Does anyone have any suggestions for what might be a good setting or pre written one shots?
I'm very aware of newbies aversion to roleplay at first, but I'll try to lessen their fears by going all in on NPC voices/mannerisms and can also bring in a veteran player to help with that.
Also, do people do a "Session zero" for one shots? I was convinced session zero was to layout the tone, setting, state of the world.
I'll try to get to all comments, but in case I dont, Thanks in advance
