The guardian shudders to a halt the moment your flame appears, Amaruve. It sways back and forth for a moment and, after regarding you, raises an arm in your direction. Its hand spreads in a warding gesture, and then the lights on its brow wink out.
Suddenly it's like a marionette with its strings cut. It collapses into a heap and shatters like old pottery.
The "screensaver" on the information panels continues to swirl.
The glowing amber figure in the glass panels swiftly materializes once again. Its form is a bit more distinct this time, and it has a more natural cadence of speech as it responds.
"We're afraid that we don't understand your query, travelers. Perhaps we can be of more direct assistance?" Amber figures are suddenly visible in each of the unbroken glass panels surrounding the tree. Of the roughly 25 original panels, 17 or 18 are intact enough to display a glowing silhouette. The figures immediately begin arguing with one another in (what you assume to be) Sylvan. Their voices grow louder and louder, and after a few moments of this, the figure directly in front of you barely raises a hand, and the others become silent and still.
"As we said," the figure says with a hint of reproach in its voice, "We are happy to assist you. We can provide you with directions to a specific location in the Castle. We can offer you a history of the Laputans, or we can put you in touch with another construct should you require physical assistance. If you would like to petition a member of the royal family or our judicate, we can of course direct you to the Solarium."
As it speaks, options appear on the screen alongside it. They are in sylvan script that slowly (and subconsciously) slide into language that you can understand. They read:
Perspicacious speaks up, directing her sight at the first screen. "We are looking for a Tiefling, like me, but male, and gray in color. And possibly children, many of them, brought here by him or others. Can you provide us directions to them, or show them on the screen?"
The other panel figures flash into existence once again, quickly and silently gesture at one another, then disappear.
The main figure tilts its head, pausing before it responds. "You... You wish to view a specific... room... in Laputa?"
A murmur issues from all around the tree, and the main figure says, "We are Vox. We are the voice of the sacred folk. We do not know 'Tiefling, like me, but male, and gray in color'. We do not know 'children'. We are the voice of Laputa. What do you wish to see?"
Vox brightens considerably. "Very well. You may view the Solarium, as well. We are very proud of it. The sacred folk labored for many hundreds of years to perfect the techniques required to adequately refract the ambient 'daylight' of this plane through soul glass to imitate the existence of what is known colloquially in some planes as a 'sun'..."
Vox continues to speak, but as he does, an image appears in the air above his glass panel. It may very well have been beautiful once, but unlike the other ruins you have seen so far, these have been scoured. The stones are completely devoid of encroaching vines, and they are slick with water. It is a large empty room, but the enormous glass windows have all been destroyed, leaving a mostly empty dome overhead.
More striking than any of this, though, is the thundercloud that swirls around a figure crouched in the center of the room. He is vaguely bird-shaped, and he holds a long, simple wooden pole in his hands. His head is cocked to one side, and his eyes are a milky white. Surrounding the bird creature (which is a kenku, for any of the party who is familiar), is a cluster of children. The smallest of these is a tiny goblin female, her eyes, like all of the others in the Solarium, are milky white.
The image disappears and Vox turns its featureless face to you. (Roll perception or investigation, anyone!) Its speech once again sounds rote, almost recorded.
"Petitioners to the Judicate, you may approach the Solarium. There, the weight of your crimes will be reviewed by the council. Please follow the central courseway. May your appeal be concise and well-founded."
Vox gestures to the darkened hallway beyond the tree.
Amaruve watches and listens. The idea of speak with this construct is just about the most uncomfortable thing he could imagine... Just about. The others seem to be getting somewhere. The mirrors display the children. Will they show how to reach this place?
He stands, ready to move. He feels Mother's Gaiadance, as he shifts into a light and swift form, smaller than what he's used before, but still familiar. The Hyena can out pace most other creatures.
Tony watches the whole scene, muttering, “Well that’s making me all kinds of uncomfortable...”

Amaruve stands up on his hind legs and sneezes up a flame to see better as the construct approaches. Acooff!
He then ponders whether or not that was supposed to work. He feels his connection again to Mother Gaia as strong as ever.

Jean, you notice that Vox has the same antlers that you saw on the summerfolk, the elf-like race the accompanied Amaruve in his return to your group.
Tony, you see that as well, and you see a flicker of a darker shape within the shadows of the hallway ahead.
