Jean facepalmed. "That explains my sudden craving for Waterdhavian cheese." She squeaked.
(Hilarious :D)
(AP, you don't have time to delve any deeper to discover the identity of your last party member! However, everyone finds that they actually know their displaced hosts' names without having to be told by you.)
(Going to give Cordelia/Tevii a chance to take an action before the warning comes from Baobur/Amaruve)
"Come on everyone, be ready! Mr. Al'ameth and Ms. O'Donoghue, keep to the front. Ms Luna and Perspicacious, watch our rear, so as we are not surprised"
I'm trying to do this, if we are about to be attacked -
General: Draw upon your years of experience to make a battle plan. Describe how you will arrange your forces and defenses ahead of a fight. Your party takes +1 ongoing while following the plan.
Man, you guys are quick. Yup, that's exactly how that works. One note, Gordra, there was a typo on one of your other moves and I've corrected it on your sheet. Tactician gives you 1 hold, not 2.
(+1 ongoing means all of your rolls get a +1 bonus while following that course of action, in this case: Gordra's formation. +1 forward means you add 1 to your next related roll only)
Jean stopped salivating at the thought of the sweet nutty taste of Waterdeep's signature holed cheese and hustled to the front of the formation, readying sword and shield. Her eyes widened as a horrifying thought struck her - What if this was a cat?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hmm fuzzy," Cordelia notes as she takes in her new body. She looked over at everyone else and quietly murmured, "so cute,"to herself.
Cordelia had no qualms about inhabiting new forms. She actually found it incredibly interesting to note that her mind was still her own, no matter what body she ended up in. The only part she didn't like was the slight feeling of nausea the leaps gave her at the beginning. Adjusting to the height difference, weight difference, and sometimes the immense, overall physical differences took a toll on her ability to perceive her surroundings. The little mouse sighed at the thought of it all as she scratched her head.
As always, she consulted Dusty. Pulling the tool out from a pocket, pouch, or backpack - wherever it had ended up on her person this particular jump. She liked to see the odds at first. It wasn't necessary to make the worlds a better place than they found them, but she always hoped they could accomplish at least something good in each leap.
(Planar Knowledge: 6+???. Not sure if Mind. If so, -1. If Instinct, +2.? Unless I am super wrong here.)

Amaruve and Jean: Directly in front of you from the brush line, you see a horror emerge (but you're used to those by now). It is large, perhaps half again as tall as a mouse. It has a dark carapace and too many legs. Bone-colored eyes rest upon stalks, and bleached white pincers are raised menacingly in your direction...
It chatters at you almost questioningly ("Dad-a-chum?"), and then with a burst of speed it scuttles toward you, claws clacking.
(Your first fight! There's no initiative in The Long Patrol. Simply state your action. If you want to take the "Fight" move, just know that you will almost certainly take harm (damage). Those of you with "armor" reduce the amount of harm you receive in a fight by that stated number. If the crab were to, say, deal 3 harm with each section of combat, Jean's/Garo's +2 armor reduces that harm to 1. One more thing: Fighting isn't like "I use my sword to strike once". It's more like the sum total of your combat against a creature before you break apart or kill it / get killed. Good luck! Be smart!)
(Okay, cool. You actually get a 9 because you have +1 ongoing for following your battle plan. The ghost crab hasn't made a lunge at Tevii/Luna just yet, but you can spend that 1 hold (from rolling a 7-9) to select an option from the "Protect" list if and when it does!)
(technically, you have to take damage first for berserk to apply. That's easily remedied, though)
The crab lunges at the meatiest morsel: Baobur. The two of you grapple and exchange blows, and you take 1 harm, Amaruve (2 minus 1 for your armor). I'll need you to roll for "fight", then you can choose 2 options to spend from your berserk list!
Amaruve performs a seemingly impossible task, rushing forward, sliding through the crabs many legs, and swinging up onto its Shell, to grab hold of its eye-stalks like a riding a beast. He is able to protect Jean without taking Harm.
(Though I'm not sure how targeting works, if protecting Jean makes sense.)
(My favorite thing about the Long Patrol is that it's more collaborative and open-ended in its storytelling than most other games. Just tell me how Baobur was able to protect Jean, and boom, you've protected her)
The crab clashed with Amaruve, taking a chop from his axe, then threw him to the ground. The mouse then performed an incredible stunt and leapt upon the monster's back, pulling its claws up and away from the rest of the party
(Hilarious :D)
