Garo peeks up from the bundle of fur she curled into to sleep. "Dragged the opposite way would be just our luck. How would we get there if that was the case?"
For a split second, Cordelia looks around quickly, whipping her head every which way trying to discern where the threat is. (Sense: 7)
"Baobur," Cordelia shoots a look at the would-be bear, "Run." She takes off running, glancing back only to ensure that Baobur follows her lead.
(Running, so is that Body 9?)
There is danger beneath your feet and danger ahead. Something is aware of your presence and is filled with malice. Death is waiting over the next rise, but you can't sense more than that.
Running to evade something is the definition of "scurry", but as you're assisting a wounded baobur, you can use Come With Me! if you prefer. What is your chosen outcome?
(I think come with me relies on instinct, which brings your roll to a 10.)
Garo peeks up from the bundle of fur she curled into to sleep. "Dragged the opposite way would be just our luck. How would we get there if that was the case?"
Fellori speaks groggily from where he sits against a barrel, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "That would depend upon where it is you need to go, warrior mouse." His cheeks puff without warning and he lurches to the rail to noisily void his stomach. A few moments later, he rubs his arm across his mouth and spits. "Faugh! Boats! Me, I don't share the hare's optimism that your friends survived the river, let alone that monster's hit. I seem to recall that big mouse telling me you were heading to the Abbey at Viper Lake. That still hold true?"
Perspicacious is distraught, but not enough to give up their destination to the fates. "I think I vote for the Abbey rather than let us drift away to who knows where into who knows what. I'm with Fellori. Baobur is smart, and Tevii resourceful. If they survived, they may look for us there."
Norn, still grinning at Fellori's nausea, turns to Elodin. I'll point the Blessing wherever yeh need to be. Do yeh agree with the ranger and the knight?"
(Perfect. Shaz, Rivina, and AP: Roll 2d6 + Mind and add +1)
The crew of Fela's Blessing moves out of the shallows and turns north to sail alongside the coastline. Keenwhistle shades her eyes with her ears as she takes a short rest.
You sail for the better part of the day without any sign of your companions. Far away to the west, you all notice a landmass, what appears to be either another very large island or a piece of the mainland this island sits adjacent to. Norn looks toward it wistfully...
Tevii, thanks to your awareness and skill in avoiding danger, alongside Baobur's ability to out-muscle any discomfort, you sprint back to the treeline and behind cover just as an ARMY of ghost crabs crests the sandy hill you were about to climb. You try to assess their numbers, but you lose count around 30 or 40, milling about as they are (but many times that number occupies the beach). They have fanned out across the length and width of this section of the shore, completely blocking your ability to continue following the coast (for this stretch, at least). Baobur, this may be a bad time to mention this, but your axe was lost in the river when the beast struck you.
Something peculiar: you notice a large contingent of the crabs (roughly 15 or 20) circled around the spot you just occupied before your dash to the trees. To Tevii's eyes the crustaceans are arranged in some kind of perverse football huddle, alert and attentive to something on or in the ground. One or two of them almost look as if they are nodding in response to something, but you can't see what it is these monsters are conversing with, if they're even capable of conversation. You just hear a never-ending chorus of, "Dad-a-chum? Dad-a-chuk? Chuk-chuk-dad-a-chum?"
This is a special team move: Navigating the Waters On a 28-35 the highest roller can pick two of the following: -You find what you were looking for -You make it to your destination safely -You make good time -You avoid notice Since Rivina and Shaz both rolled a 10, you can each select one of the above.
AP, you get to pick one incidental effect. This is not something necessarily good or bad, but it will direct the story down the line: -A storm is brewing -The ghost ship -Things that go bump
Baobur reaches for his axe. He knows it's not there. The absence of its comforting weight has him at odds. He feels off balance and lonely. He'd sooner have lost his boots... or his mead... his boots and his mead... He'd make due. He'd have to.
He holds a finger in front of his lips looking at Tevii, and jerks his head deeper toward the forest, moving cautiously and quietly. The idea of crabs tracking his trail seemed absurd, but he wasn't going to take chances. He'd seen enough madness this week already. He'd believe anything was possible at this point.
As you continue to sail north, a fog rises from the water, seemingly without warning. Norn hisses from the tiller, and his crew of shrews begins to shift nervously, whiskers twitching and snouts working ceaselessly. Within moments, the fog is too thick to see beyond the railing of the Blessing. The noon sun is hidden entirely as you are blanketed in a dark murk.
Keenwhistle rises from the deck, clear eyes trying in vain to pierce the glom. Garo, you feel a tingling at the base of your neck as your hackles rise (do mice have hackles?). Garo, Roll “Haunted by the Past”. Elodin and Joja, you see a pale, empty mote of light growing in the distance.
