A pbp campaign for characters from levels 1 through to 10. Lots of dungeons and dragons!
What you can expect - a free campaign run for fun by a friendly, professional play by post DM. Dedication and planning, multiple posts most days, at least twice a day on average. UK timezone for activity. Meaningful choices, NPCs full of character, and adaptations to suit your character and backstory. Run on a private discord server and using Owlbear, Avrae and Tupperbox for an immersive experience.
Expectations - Looking for active and invested players for the long term. Life is definitely a thing that happens, but ideally an average of at least 1-2 posts a day. Looking for players willing to bond with the party, invest in the story, RP to the fullest, stay enthusiastic and engaged to the end, and be gracious and respectful to everyone at the table.
No gore/NSFW/Main character syndrome/Hate speech
3 spaces available. If you're interested and and excited, please post a very basic character concept below (no need for stats or a full on backstory just yet)
Came from a family of engineers, craftsmen, etc., but left them behind when he saw what kinds of war creations they were working on. He moved out on his own, helping people in a nearby village by using his skills in metalworking and tinkering.
With the impending boom in the Ultra-Violent Ballad genre, Chordcleaver intends to capitalize financially by releasing the most violent album ever written. A jolly and boisterous ex-farmer, he just needs some violence to sing about and the fame and fortune will follow, he is sure of it.
Your task will be good aligned, but you're welcome to play any character alignment or any interest you wish. There is definitely good money to be made for those driven by such motivations. 2024 rules. The tone I will fit around the party, but overall I'm not looking for something too dark most of the time. I'm looking for meaningful story and interaction, so not zany completely mad antics. Hopefully that helps but please let me know if there's anything I can narrow in on for you.

Perfectly helpful, thank you.
2024 gives me some pause. I've not been a fan of the new rules. I'll noodle on it.
That's more than fair. I think once we're in the thick of it I don't think it will be a great issue. But it's most important you're enjoying what you play :) I hope you'll consider joining us.

Will you have content sharing open? I don't have the 2024 books, so a lot of stuff is not available to me.
I took a random route, rolling for class, subclass, background, and species. Interesting result. Goliath Paladin of the Noble Genie with Guide background.
Not sure if the setting is Forgotten Realms (this assumes it is), but this concept could work anywhere
Jalil ibn Tharos, the Covenant-Bound
“The desert does not forgive lies. Nor do I.”
Jalil ibn Tharos was born among the high crags but forged by the sands of Calimshan, where caravans cut thin lifelines across an unforgiving desert. Towering even among goliaths, Jalil earned his living as a guide, selling not just his strength but his unerring sense of direction and his iron respect for ancient ways: hospitality, honor, and the sanctity of a sworn word.
On a moonless night in the Calim Desert, Jalil led a caravan through a region the locals refused to name. When an elemental storm rose—wind howling with voices not meant for mortal ears—he could have fled. Instead, he stood his ground, sheltering the travelers and refusing to abandon those placed in his care. At dawn, a Noble Genie revealed itself, impressed not by prayers, but by Jalil’s refusal to break covenant with the living.
The bargain was simple, and therefore absolute.
Jalil would serve as a blade and warden of the old pacts, ensuring mortals honored the forgotten boundaries between the desert and its elemental lords. In return, he was granted power—not as a gift, but as a trust.
Now, at the start of his journey, Jalil walks as a Paladin of the Noble Genies, his oath still young, his armor marked with subtle elemental sigils. His smite flashes like desert lightning, his resolve as unyielding as stone. He is not yet a legend—but those who travel beneath his protection swear the sands themselves part at his passing.
BACKSTORY:He's only just come of age and is already a bit of an outcast. He's from the Moonshae Isles and is related to the House of Ordalf - being somewhat outspoken - maybe that's what got him noticed! Some wise council from the current ruling incumbent at Caer Corwell Duke de Prime suggested he 'stretch he's wings' so to speak and see what the world has to offer. While on one of the mundane trips north of the Isles he saw an add seeking interested persons to journey forth in the hope of grand adventure that involved dragons. That got Prax very interested. He'd never really saw a dragon before except what he thinks was the shadow of one once while ranging with he's Master Uncle.
So when got a moment he put quill to parchment and wrote;
To whom it may concern, My name is Praxis el Ordalf but please call me Prax. I live south of the Moonshae Isles 'Gywenneth' region near a ruined dump called Caer Corwell. I'm pretty young for an elf Ranger but I do make up for it with enthusiasm and spirit. I'm happy go lucky and just want to be taken seriously and as Master de Prime said 'go stretch your wings' and I think he's right. I'm around for the next while and I am staying at the Whalers Inn while I await our trade to be complete. You can reach me there if you have any questions. Kind regards and goodwill, Praxis el Ordalf.
Once a soldier, he found himself living a simpler life as a farmhand in his post military career. He was out fixing the fence when he saw the smoke rising from the farmhouse. By the time he got there, whoever it was that attacked the place had burned the barns and house beyond Xondario ability to save and had fled. There were no signs of the farmer or family, either kidnapped or burned up, Xondario didn't know. Now he searches for signs or clues of what happened while still carrying the large fencing maul he had been using on fence posts.
Naturally gifted with arcanic arts, Thulewyn worked with his parents at the temple they resided within. Realizing quickly that his talents were not given as a devine reward for faith as his parents, they allowed him have a bit more freedom from his duties at the temple. Without suprise, when Thulewyn got of age, he set off for adventure and to discover the true reason behind his gifts.
Hello, this sounds interesting. I'm based in the UK (London), so can be quite active, and I have a strong preference for nice play-by-post with good stories unfolding :) This character has been on my mind for a while and I'd be excited to build her up.
Anastasia Graystone Human - Warlock
Backstory: Anastasia grew up in a vibrant, tight-knit neighborhood in Waterdeep, surrounded by the warmth of her family and a community that felt like one. As a child of two sorcerers, she watched with eager anticipation as her friends and both of her siblings manifested their own innate talents, waiting for the spark in her blood to finally ignite.
But that moment never comes.
When she reaches 21 years of age, and there is not even the slightest sign that that would ever happen, Anastasia falls into a sense of desperation. To her neighbors and family, Anastasia remains the girl she has always been: cheerful, kind, and the first to offer a helping hand. Beneath that polished exterior, however, she is hollowed out by a sense of failure. Until the fear of disappointing her lineage drove her to a quiet, desperate breaking point.
Now, she finally has the magic she craved, but it carries the weight of a secret that could shatter her perfect life. She will do whatever it takes to be like the people she loves, even if the cost is her soul.
Veteran D&D and play by post player here. I would love the opportunity to join this game, I enjoy the 2024 ruleset and am looking for opportunities to play more in it.
I would love the opportunity to play a wizard in a game where scrolls and spells are a treasure to be discovered. I even have a concept based around spells being "music" and having some deep "music theory" understanding be core to the character. Like a music teacher vs an actual performer like a Bard might be, just to mix up the standard wizard flavor a bit.
lol... I told the DnD character creator to do a fully random character. Generated a bard... something I have NEVER played before. (I am not a singer or musically inclined nor a poet nor... I can just talk ALOT!)

Human Artificer (Battle Smith)
Came from a family of engineers, craftsmen, etc., but left them behind when he saw what kinds of war creations they were working on. He moved out on his own, helping people in a nearby village by using his skills in metalworking and tinkering.
This sounds fun. It feels like a classic setup. I've always said that D&D games are often missing both dungeons and dragons.
Can you give a sense of the campaign tone? Dark and gritty? Fun and playful?
Will we be playing good guys? Bad guys? Opportunists?
Will you be using 2014 or 2024 rules?
I have a couple of character concepts bouncing around in my head but clarification will help me hone in.
