The night is silent as you look over the village that the lot of you have been assigned to. There are supposed to be vampires tonight, but nothing is coming. And then you hear a whistle, as five shadowy cloaked figures race out of the trees, sharp teeth glinting in the moonlight. It’s time for a battle.
But let’s have a flashback to earlier today, when you first arrived in the town of Nikeras, part of the Amber Province, and part of the country of Tyvern. And for centuries, Tyvern has been having a problem. Vampires. They’ve been infecting the citizens, taking their blood, and destroying homes. So the Eight Orders, Amber, Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Agate, Onyx, Diamond, and Amethyst, formed the Knights to stop them. You have just joined the Knights. This is your first mission.
You remember when you were debriefed. “There are eight types of vampires. Fireflies, Moths, Wolves, Bats, Cougars, Spiders, Cockroaches, and Owls. Fireflies and Moths are the most dangerous. They can survive during the day. They’ll be hiding among the townsfolk, watching and waiting. And at night, they’ll strike. I have given you the knight’s blade, an experienced vampire fighter.” So, as you enter this town, clutching the cross around your neck, what would you like to do?
(You guys can have some time for your characters to talk before we start fighting)
Hello! Call meTana. My pronouns are She/Her. I am a teenager. I have Autism and ADHD. And, you would probably call me trans femme, Pansexual pancake, and ace I will mother you if you are being stupid. ALL HAIL MERLIN! Viande, the town guard, looks up from the big haunch of meat he's roasting on a spit. He glances around, then sighs. "I forgot my spear... oh well. Thank y'all for showin' up, by the by." He picks a little flower and starts plucking the petals off, not even looking at the shadowy figures.
Jebediah Staine is a tall, imposing figure. A middle aged muscular human wearing heavy plate. Longsword in a scabbard on his hip and a shield firmly affixed to his back, the warrior absentmindedly grasps the holy cross hanging from a simple chain around his neck. His training playing through his mind over and over again. Glimpses of his past intermixed among the training sessions. Memories of his family. Memories that fuel his hatred for the vampiric vermin. Volunteering for this duty came easy and fast for the armored warrior. He'd never been to Nikeras before. It didn't matter. 'So long as there are minions of the enemy to vanquish, it matters not the local.'
Jeb looks around at his allies, sizing them up. Wondering if they will be up to the task when darkness falls. 'Am I up to the task?'
"Greetings!"Jeb says to the local guard. "We have come to offer aid."
Caine follows his new compatriots. He is trying not to be unfriendly, but knows his weakness. As he gets older he finds out he is quicker to anger then in his younger days. The loss of his mentor is a loss he still has not gotten over. Caine knows that if he doesn't get over it soon, that weakness may kill him. But the pressure of not getting angry is in itself making him angry. As he walks along half paying attention, he broods about not getting angry. The rage inside simmering as he tries to stop it.
Hearing Jeb speak, jolts Caine awake to where is actually at. Looking around he tries to determine the lay of the land that he mentally skipped over and is looking at with fresh eyes.

Wystan takes in his new surroundings; new comrades, a new city. His skeptic glare shifts to a satisfied smirk. He touches his holy symbol hanging around his neck, remembering who and what he holds close to him. “I think I’m going to enjoy this new task of ours!” Under studded leather vambraces, his arms tense up, ready to draw his bow in case of an unprecedented threat.
The slow clip-clop of Gingermane's hooves are temporarily drowned out by his booming bombastic voice,
"There's nothing wrong with taking pleasure in your work. If you're good at something, you should take pleasure in it!"
