"We should wait yes... Learrn morre anout what they'rre waiting forr. Unless morre of theirr allies come, in that case we should attack beforre they reunite. " says the tabaxi.
Deborah, you can’t seem to get a read on the type of carving and stone work surrounding the Vault endurance. It’s unlike nothing you’ve seen. And it depicts strange scenes.
You all wait. The drow and four militia drop into battle stance and grip their weapons.
No longer than half-a-minute passes before an old dwarf stumbles out of the Vault archway and collapses to the stone floor. He’s carrying a sheathed ornate sword. His coveralls are bloodied and torn.
Behind him, Cassia backs out of the Vault archway. She’s blasting fire bolts and rays of frost back into the Vault. Despite her teenage years, she looks all woman as she’s casting spell after spell.
Cassia keeps backing farther into the cavern. “Get ready!” she shouts.
Then, seven small creatures pour out of the archway, snarling and baring their teeth. Their muscled bodies are scarred and mutilated. Their faces look like a dog’s turned inside out.
The drow and militia rush forward and engage the creatures. A a brutal battle begins. Cassia continues casting spells.
" Well....if they can't handle those little things then they're not worth the money they're being paid. Bad news is those look alive so the Vault likely connects to deeper caverns and maybe even the Underdark. Could be anything in there."
Deborah looked for a way down and closer to the fray, to be ready to assist or attack from the rear as the original party decided. She picked out some shadows in the lieu of an outcrop and headed there....
Deborah, you move down the stairs quietly, unnoticed. Then you cross the distance to the nearest stack of crates. You do you best to stay hidden and unheard, but, on the way, you kick a pebble.
At that moment, the drow’s ear twitches. She spares a glance over her shoulder in your direction. Then she goes back to the demons they’re engaged with.
The drow calls out orders and the militia all work together dispatching one demon at a time and defending in-between. Cassia blasts one of the creatures with a fire bolt and it goes down.
The last of the creatures falls and one of the militia spits on the corpse. The drow orders her men to move the dead demons and cleans the blood off her sword.
As two of the militiamen lift a corpse, a third rears back and his throat explodes in a spray of blood and gore. A blur of darkness seems to take shape next to him and move. It has wings and horns and blood dripping down its claws.
“Oh god!” cries one of the men dropping the demon corpse and drawing his sword. The shade seems to seep back into the shadows as the drow calls for her men to form a circle around Cassia and the dwarf clutching the ornate sword. They all hold out their weapons looking this way and that.
Lazarus: (to the party) "Perhaps with how dangerous the vault is, we won't need to deal with Blackwood's men, they either die from the monsters of the vault or be too scared to keep working for Blackwood."

“I know you all killed because you had to, but just allowing others to die at the hands of demons feel different. We should at least give a hand first, then if things get heated sort it out then. We might need to work together to defeat whatever is in there.” One begins to get closer in order to get in range to assist with spells while keeping out of sight.
Deborah looked to One and then across at the others, as a latecomer she didn't want to be the one calling the shots unless there was no other option.....
You think you can see faint trails of where the demon is, but you’re not exactly sure where it is. Roll perception, DC 18 to see it clearly. Otherwise, you have disadvantage. You’re 30 feet from the group surrounding Cassia and the dwarf. The shadow demon is between you and them (15 ft).
Deborah, you charge forward slashing. Your first swing misses, but your second connects. Despite it being solid hit, this is no normal creature. Your blade stops short of where you think it should have.
The demon retaliates. Its claws rend your armor, but you’re able to pull away to keep it from penetrating.
You all can see the demon clearly now that Deborah is standing next to it.
“That sounds good, don’t want to be rushing into things.”
