Alryn Nirnguard is a young cleric, born in Waterdeep to parents who perished in a war before he was 3 years old. Although he grew up in such a cosmopolitan city, he spent most of his time pouring over books and tomes and staying indoors. He passed the majority of his days in a monastery of Tyr. He read stories of great heroes, divine tomes, and he studied law, both terrestrial and godly. Upon coming of age at 20, he has decided to journey forth from his scholastic haven, and find practical use for his book smarts.
Dàin is a Mountain Dwarf barbarian. His clan comes from the mountains away from Waterdeep. Cast out from his army and clan by another's actions, Dàin has wandered searching employment, and plotting eventual revenge, but so far is just looking to survive.
Born on the high end of the merchant class, bordering on nobility Detrius, one Det was michevious but well intentioned. He didn't grow up in water deep but frequented it yearly when his father would come and arrange purchases for the year. After his father died and his older brother Petro took over Det went out looking to find his own path.
For starting equipment, can we sell some gear to buy something else? Purely common items.
Josen grew up amidst the slums of Waterdeep, with his half brother Morem. The two have relied on each other to survive since childhood. Both were born with skilled hands, but Josen took his skills to music and magic. Morem chose more clandestine hobbies, which he used to support Josen’s interest in bardic skills. Josen hopes to help them find a future outside the slums. He’s got big dreams, and big plans.
Backstory: Shayde came to Waterdeep as a teenager but found it difficult to survive. She had left her home, thinking that the city would offer her countless opportunities. For several months she lived on the street begging until a minor noble took pity on her and brought her into his home as a servant. The noble has ambitions on a higher station and often needs things done that they don't want others to know about. He, along with one of his chief advisors, has trained Shayde in arts of stealth, deception and investigation. Her role has been to locate people for the Lord, spy on them, and sometimes, detain them. As a cover for her work, Shayde has spent a lot of time at the local monasteries studying and training with them. The skills have been useful, being able to calm and centre herself has helped her immeasurably in her work. Still, she does not know if she agrees with the spiritual side of their orders.
OK we have 5 players and I have a 6th waiting for him to respond. Just a few things to say beforw we start.
1. Your Grammer does not have to be perfect. Just try to have it readable. I understand when I just my phone and not laptop my Grammer isn't as well put together.
2. That said some people like to change the color if there speech text. This is but a requirement but is fine if you decide to just please clearly "" the text separate it so I know what it is. If you use colors try to not use the same color.
3. One last thing I have mentioned it before. Alot of Pbp end up fizzling out after a little while because people dropping etc. To help avoid this if you cannot post at least once every 24 please let me know missing two days like that I will assume you have quit and find a replacement.
4. Last last thing. Above all else have fun. I have been Dming tabletop since 1989 and this has always been my number one rule. The game is here to have fun unwind and maybe slay a dragon or 2.
Everyone gets a contact in Waterdeep someone you know from some past experience or new one. The above post contains possible contacts. So look them over and decide which one you would like. They can normally be found in The Yawning Portal.
Can.let me know my pm who you choose as a contact.
You arrive at The Yawning Portal. ((Maybe your throat is parched or its a popular hangout of yours.)) The noise from outside is intense and as you enter It becomes deafening. The sight of a packed house fills your vision. Bards strum there guitars as waitresses rush between tables and patrons serving all kinds of spirits.
Your eyea drift to the center of the room where you see a 40 foot diameter open well with a rope and pull system hanging over it. You see a group of adventurers being lowered into the well as the patrons cheer and sing.
Looking up you notice the balconies of the upper floors. The people up there seem better dressed and and the general area much nicer than down stairs.
Looking around for a table you see one with only a few seats left walking up you nod at the people around the table taking a seat with them.
((Ooc so of you know each other some down this is a general discription of one of you arriving at the bar and finding a seat with the group. You are welcome to use that and start at the table or add you own opening into the bar and finding a seat at the table. This also gives you the chance to interact with the others learn the other characters and establish a connection with the others.))
