From the corner a cloaked figure rises. His black traveler's hood hides his face. A large clay jug (looking rather empty) bearing the mark "XX" hangs from one long sleeve. He staggers toward the bar.
"Whatsss thisss I hear?" He says as he trips over a chair leg and falls to the wood floor of the Tavern. The clay jug shatters loudly (it was indeed empty).
All eyes turn toward the sound and a few gasps are heard as the man's hood falls from his head revealing a Dragonborn with Ebony Black scales and Deep Jade Green eyes.
"Sssorry." He slurs. "I think I ssspilled my drink."
Markas raises his arm to block flying shards of shattered jug from his face and responds to the barkeeps question: "Adventure, yes, but suicide, no. I'm trying to find a group that won't get cut down in our first spot of trouble." He eyes those around him warily.
The spots on Amar's cloths show the jug wasn't as empty as its former owner believed. Amar takes in the The Stretched Goat, "I'll say it again, I will go and find Lhodis, drink your mead in celebration. It may be just you and I, Markus." Amar extends his hand to a fellow adventurer.
Markas takes in a draft of mead with one hand and shakes Amar's hand with the other. Wiping his mouth, "Well met, I'd be happy to join you." He glances sidelong at the Dragonborn, "I can't imagine what he was drinking or how much of it."
With some effort the Dragonborn manages to sidle up to the bar. "Did I hear you fine warriors are going on a ressscue mission? I will lend my sssskills..." At this moment he nearly slips off the barstool but catches his balance with a clawed hand.
Zerys throws back her whiskey, "I'll join your little adventure, someone needs to go along to keep you lot in line. Do not doubt that I will expect a full share of the treasures to be found."

(Using Persuasion and my advantage against the barkeep - you can roll it)
To Amar: "Finding Lhodis is all well and good, but I'm also interested in this creature."
Leaning in to the Barkeep to keep the conversation (somewhat) private: "Barkeep, surely you've heard more than what's common knowledge, is there anything more you can impart to aid us in our search?"
The barkeep shrugs. “That’s all I know. As more news comes my way I will be happy to share it.”
So because your roll was so good, and the barkeep says he has no further information. It’s a safe bet he doesn’t have any right now.
“Just ask for me here if you cannot find me. My name is Bumbo.”
The tavern slowly begins to empty as the hour becomes late. You find yourselves all standing together at the bar contemplating your future together: Amar, Markus, Zerys, the not drunk Pagan, and the unnamed dwarf who likes cheap ale.
“Yes. You are welcome to do so,” says Bumbo, “I’ll even set you off with a nice breakfast at no cost to yourselves.”
At this an older man appears at the door to the kitchen. He wears an apron over finer clothing. He gives a nod and a brief stare at Bumbo, crossing his arms.
Bumbo’s face flushes red and he clears his throat. “As for tonight’s fare that is on you. Let’s settle up and you can be on your way.”
Bumbo the barkeep gives a curt nod in appreciation to the dragonborn.
Just for accounting purposes let me know where you all plan to sleep. I assume all of you arrived at the keep just today and have not fully explored it beyond the tour you received from the lackey who brought you from the gatehouse to the inn. Given that, the only lodging you are aware of is the inn and the stables:
Zerys tosses a couple silver on the bar, not taking any chances on why the barkeep neglected to give her a bill. "I'm off to the stables. Don't leave without me."
Amar will seek out the best of the bar maids and see if she'll take him in for the night; that winning smile and such. Otherwise off to the stables!
Making a Persuasion check for Amar, but with Disadvantage because the only barmaid is the daughter of the taverner (the older man in fine clothes who appeared in the kitchen doorway) and he’s right there watching over things. That’s player knowledge—not character knowledge; Amar does not know the relationship of the barmaid to the taverner.

And a 7 is not good enough. So the stables it is for Amar.

Awarding Inspiration to Markus for roleplaying to his character flaws.

Deception: 5
vs. Passive Insight
Everyone realizes that Pagan is only pretending to be drunk.
Amar eyes this random group of adventure seekers, "We may be on to something here!"
