"Pffff." Cora says, helping the bugman up. "I'm nothing special. If I was, i'd be able to unboard a..train? Is that what those are called? Instead of breaking in pieces. Thanks, by the way, whoever saved me."
“They are just being humble, we are like, totes awesome.“ Pumpkin hurriedly interupts Cora’s dismissal, sending the girl a mild annoyed look, and the bug man a cocky grin.
“If you dudes have any other tottaly gnarly missions, were for sure the go to, always taking the big missions and getting back home to do some more!” She sends the bug man a wink and a big thumbs up, before continuing in a somewhat more sly voice.
“You know, assuming we get paid accordingly once y’all get all your power and land and treasures and what not. Ya do have cool treasures and stuff right?”
“Speaking of big missions... Let’s go. War is upon us.”
The Thri-kreen warrior guides you over a number of sand dunes and through outcroppings which is a trek which lasts roughly four hours. Finally, it stops, and lets out an ear splitting chitter with it’s mandibles and a dark hole opens in a sandy outcropping.
It guides you inside an intricate cave system, full of Ankheg and other Thri-kreen, young and old, some like warriors, others workers. Small fluorescent lights are scattered throughout the walls ranging from red, yellow and blue. You travel through these cave systems until you find a huge underground cave opening with countless Thri-kreen warriors, each donning a bow or ranged throwing star/ boomerang and a melee weapon, mostly made from rock and bone. It takesyou all day and it’s about night time now. There is an opening letting in the cold night air and natural light from the stars and moons, (remember, there are three moons on Eothia- Red, Blue and Yellow which all together make white light. If one of the moons is blocked out, the shadow is a dark hue of the other two moons colour mixture.)
In the middle of the cavern opening, on a tall spire is a familiar looking creature. Hood down now, Kha’zix stands with it’s arms outspread. All you hear audibly is the hustling of the Thri-kreen, but in your minds, you hear the words of Kha’zix: “Now is the time. Silence, and you will be able to hear.!” Like a well oiled machiene, all the ants stop moving suddenly. Then, you hear war drums. The yelling of crazed believers and the roars of mechanical beasts. The thumping of thousands of feet on a war march. ”It is now, that we rise up. With the help of a few heroic and capable surface dwellers, we may now return home. Return to reclaim what is rightfully ours! Move silently, coordinated and strike together for this is our moment to strike. Once both sides have expended their resources on each other, we shall take them, and their cities, by surprise! Now listen. Listen to them fight each other, so that we may triumph.”
And with that, you do. You all stand there, listening for about an hour, as the City of Rust and the city of Arid battle each other in blood. The thri-kreen offer you each a mount so you may ride it out of the cavern you are in (the ankheg mounts have spider climb abilities) and ride West, to the nearest known settlement, the Hunter’s Guild. Kha’zix approaches you all and gifts these mounts to you. He insists that you have done enough and you may ride freely West, but if you wish to partake in the battle, you may. (Also, feel free to RP in this part)
The time comes. Thousands of Thri-kreen march upwards, along vertical surfaces to the outside where they peel off in different directions, climbing over thousands of already dead bodies, they look to re-take the surface... When you’re ready... Roll Initiative.
Okay! In order: Rosli, Cora, Yasei Danica and then Bobo.
As you crawl up and out of the hole, you see a battle under full swing. Humans, bugbears and orcs fighting each other everywhere as well as Thri-kreen involving themselves. The red moon is predominant, so the shadows have a reddish hue to them, complimented by the blood-stained sand. You see the large white skinned believers having an almost joyous time beheading what look to be the fighters from Arid. The Arid fighters fight with curved scimitars and wear robes which cover most of their bodies. They wear bone masks, fashioned to look like demons.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yeah, you guys see some raised outcroppings which a few Thri-kreens have climbed the lower part of, picking enemies off with arrows. It's a bit of a struggle, ducking and weaving through the chaos of a full fledged battle.
As you all make your way over to the outcropping, a rogue arrow whizzes past Rosli. To hit: 23 Damage: 4
An axe has been thrown, but missed it's mark! It flies towards Cora! To hit: 19 Damage: 5
You manage to travel through the battlefield, and your Ankheg's climb the outcropping A sea of battle surrounds you and it looks as though you're right in the middle of it!
You all suddenly hear a roaring sound... which is hard to pin point. It sounds like something zooming right around the battlefield, but is impossible to pinpoint the source as it echoes off every surface. (Similar sound to a jet flying) Simultaneously, a steady rumble under your feet. As you look down, you see the smaller shards of broken rock are dancing around on the spot, vibrating. It appears noo ne else has really noticed.
"Wow, check out all of this f-AAH!" Cora barks, nearly getting knocked off her mount. An axe throw at her nicks her shoulder, bad. It bleeds, but it doesn't hurt to bad.
Cora feels a disturbance in the Weave. She stops for a moment and looks sad. She takes out a comic book, holds it to her chest, and says, "Thank you, Stan" before putting it away.
In that moment, the entire battle ceases. Every individual stops for a second, raises their hands to the sky and waves a spider man signal to the heavens before comencing wailing on each other.
The rumbling become stronger. That soaring noise- what is it???
Suddenly, the ground in the middle of the battle begins to shift in a gigantic sinkhole as sand pours in from the edges. Countless individuals are swept in to the centre before the sand explodes back out again and like a train emerging from a subway tunnel- but vertically- a gigantic purple worm shoots upwards from the earth, sending sand and rock shattering around the battlefield!
You guys are situated a few hundred metres away from it and get a good view. It lets out a large, what seems frantic shriekand those who take a hot second to really look at it, notice it has cuts and bruises covering it. It pays no attention to the battle surrounding it- dwarfing you to the equivelant of ants. The soaring noise quickly builds and becomes louder-
-WHAM-
Like a sonic BOOM, something collides with the side of the worm, sending out pressured air gusts almost blowing you off your position on the outcrop. The worm bends in sideways and lets out another SHRIEKof pain and crashes in to the ground on the battlefield, only to begin churning it's teeth like a rotary drill, attempting to burrow back underground.
What just hit that thing??
The worm begins to thrash all around the battlefield and this is going to get messy real fast. Spouts of air begin churning up and this looks to be the beginnings of a big sand storm. Getting caught in it would not be ideal. What will you do?

With a look of surprise and wonder, Cora mounts her steed and follows Yasei, with a stupid excited grin on her face.
