The battlefield is in tumult. Hordes upon hordes of soldiers ebb and cascade upon each other time and time again like turbid waters as the gloam threatens to whisk away your senses and your life with the same. The loud echoes of war cries----and the cries of fallen men and women----define the field; light has chosen to not make its appearance. The stony ruins of a castle loom over the scene, dominating in their decrepit grandeur----but whatever lurks within is not grand at all.
You cannot see it, but it will devour. It hungers, it yawns, it wakes from its slumber, and it prepares its final dominion.
And then you wake, hacking and wide-eyed, heart thudding through your ribs. It's not real, you remind yourself, but it takes ages to calm the rush of emotion that came with the dream.
Where are you? Who are you? And, most importantly, why did the Jhat family, the ruling caste of the Harrog parish, call for your assistance in a task that required your immediate attention?
RULES/CLARIFICATIONS:
Hello! :> This campaign is co-run by Wes__ and 50thAltOfBananer. Level 3 start. One uncommon or common magic item, roll stats in thread and reroll ones. This campaign will close once we have received 4-6 applications we are satisfied with. (Wes note: if I have time I might be able to run a second group but we'll see how much interest there is!)

Oh, and we're playing 5E (2014). Knew I'd forgotten something...
Anyway, some basic rules!
We're looking to create a collective story, not foment bigotry. If you have your beliefs about certain groups, people, or whatnot, please keep those to yourself or, if you can't, look someplace else. I know y'all are great, we just have to put that at the start of everything.
Dice roller (since some people have problems with that): Look at the bar above the posting box and go to the penultimate icon (a die showing three dots). Click on that, then click 'Ability Scores'. Then, since we're rerolling ones, click on the 'Never' button and change it to 'Always'.
Posting requirements: Honestly, this is a bit laid-back on that matter. We're relatively consistent in our posting, and there's two of us (ergo things will be much quicker), but we'll make sure to post a decent amount. Nothing really required per se, but aim for three to four posts a week if possible.
Last note: I wanted to be blatant about this, since I don't want to withhold information from people. This campaign is co-DMed by a pair of 14/15-year-olds. Dunno if that'll change anything for most, but I wanted to make sure people knew.
Any more questions? PM Bananer and I or put it in this very thread!
LORE (what PCs know already, kudos to Bananer. More will be added if needed, please ask us if you need some clarifications/additions to this!):
History:
Two hundred years ago, the fall happened. Demons swarmed from below and occupied the nation of Kaskalan. They eventually managed to break free, but Kaskalan splintered into smaller nations. Kaskalan’s gods did nothing to help, so the people swore to never worship them again, and many died by a demon-blade that the mortals had stolen.
Over time, the nations that had been formed from the remains of Kaskalan began to thrive. Lush fields filled the land, villages prospered. The mortals learned they could live without the gods. A festival to celebrate the defeat of the demons and the gods was formed.
Decades later, the dreams of the people pulsed with an urgency. They saw a village being wrecked by a large titan, they saw people dying in pain, they saw the destruction of the world. Everyone experienced this, but few were able to talk about it, as for every person, it was their own personalized nightmare, and few wanted to share their deepest fears. This was coincidental, as the Festival of Defeat, which happened every ten years, was coming in about a month.
UPON THE MATTER OF CLERICS AND PALADINS (and whatever other deity-centered classes you want to play):
Although the (main pantheon of) gods is widely disapproved of by the general population, it's not too uncommon to find someone worshipping their own set of gods or the old set. It's not illegal, just viewed with wariness.
Oh, and magic-users! You attract a bit of suspicion, but most people are entranced by some basic, interesting magic (so don't worry about people trying to burn you at the stake /j).
Two last things, since I don't think I've forgotten anything! (for once!)
1. Expect this to be swarmed by Adohand's-dwellers, the nefarious postmaxxers (yes, I'm a hypocrite) who take things a bit off-the-rails sometimes. This might get goofy. (And to you Adohand's people wondering whether you should eat me now, it's not a bad thing!)
2. G'night. If the bedbugs bite, I've got a flamethrower to help you out.

Name of character and other identity details (gender, appearance): Erik Sandweaver, a male Brass Dragonborn, around 6’1, 210 pounds, and very confident in himself.
Backstory:
Erik Sandweaver was born in the town of Emersleben, in the Bright Desert. Born to the rank of Aurejal, he enjoyed a lavish life in his community, but he wanted adventure. He served as a Brass Scout to the local awakened roc Hulginbulst, but even those excursions didn’t satisfy his tastes. Erik eventually found himself stranded from his scouting party (he wasn’t very good, you see…) and after a few hours of aimless desert wandering he encountered one of the local brass dragons, Elowen, in a conflict with the fiendish red dragon Ashardalon. Rushing to his clanmates assistance, he fired an arrow at Ashardalon in desperation. The arrow (probably guided by divine influence) sailed far and true, striking the fiend in the eye. Ashardalon was quickly overwhelmed by their collective onslaught and escaped. Elowen was immensely grateful and offered to teach Erik in the ways of the arcane magic. Erik was under her teachings for six years, and in that time, their bond grew to the point where they eventually became a warlock/patron relationship. But Erik thought it was deeper than that. Erik quickly fell in love with Elowen and wasn’t scared to show it. Eventually Erik had to leave her lair to go prove his mettle in the real world, but every night he still thinks of her. (And maybe Elowen feels the same way…)

Interesting I'm assuming alchemists have a lot of utility like artificer?
