Lord Kent says out loud, so both you and Brigit can hear, "This whole tournament was more of...an audition. I put out the call to those from all walks of life, with a penchant for the 'gambling arts', in hopes that it would attract some individuals with questionable morals, who would be willing to run an errand for me. You see, for years I've been researching the legend of Danu de Tuatha, particularly the Moon Staff that she used to defeat the Ancient Black Dragon that had been terrorizing the land. I believe I may have found some clues as to the location of the goddesses final resting place. But its believed the hidden temple would be a dangerous place, fraught with traps and creatures, someone with skill and cunning is needed to get in there and get me that staff." he pauses now, staring at you both expectantly.
"OK, but what do the items you stole from the village have to do with you quest for this staff? Dice will ask him in his mind "I mean... I don't have a problem breaking into the place to try to get you a staff... but that doesn't help me get the items you stole back to the mayor.... I mean.. I guess if my options are to help you or die.. well obviously I would prefer not to die.... but I do have an agreement with mayor Fellstone that he will forgive my past crimes if I am able to return to him with the items you stole and information on why you stole them....
Lord Kent chuckles a bit, then responds to you in your mind, "Mayor Fellstone didn't reveal to you how much he knew. He was also researching the burial place, but I've got what I need from his notes. I could have it arranged that you get some of the items back, if that's a requirement. Also, what's your relationship with this woman? Do you think she will be a problem?"
"I was using her to help me recover the missing items... I only met her here at the tournament. I have a feeling that she may not be interested in working for someone of "questionable morals". Dice will pause a moment casting a glance towards the symbol on her cloak. I was only able to convince her to help me because I informed her that there were gnolls in the castle and that helping me was the "good" thing to do.... Perhaps your robed friend could suggest she forget she ever talked to me or you... I don't think you would have a problem with her.
I Lord Kent whispers something to his robed companion, and then the man, along with a guard escort Brigit back down the spiral stairs, you hear some protest from Brigit, but she goes with them.
Lord kent rises from his chair and walks over to the far wall of his room, he presses on hidden switch and that wall opens up into a doorway. He goes in for a moment, and returns with a gem-studded longsword that matches the description you had from the Mayor. He also is carrying a few leather bound books. "This is some of the items that you've been looking for, I honestly don't know if there are other items, I let my minions take a few souvenirs as well. Do we have a deal?"
Dice will open his robe to show the statue that the Gnoll gave him, giving something of a smile to kent. "Sounds good to me, I will take those items to the mayor and feed him whatever information you would like...I get my record wiped clean and you get your scepter..." dice will whisper to Kent before repeating the line he asked the Gnoll to say to him in the gnolls voice. (I think it was like.... Thank you Lord kent, you are the boss" or something like that.)
Lord Kent laughs at your gnoll mimicry, "Clever trick. Go then, do your business with the mayor and return back here in a few days, that way everyone will be gone from the tournament. And here, " and he tosses you a small sack, "to ensure your return, I'll give you another of those when you come back, and 2 more when you find me the staff."
Looking in the bag it looks likes there's about 100g.
(WELP, Dice is fine with this turn of events to be honest... and I originally got the gnoll to say that to help incriminate him but it actually is earning me brownie points.. WHO KNEW!)
So... I feel like I broke the game? Or at least took a shortcut.. maybe? I guess I still have all the original money the mayor gave me, and the money from Kent... and will get more money form the mayor.... soo.. money wise I am good... but like... I played 1 game of dice lol... 1... out of how many days?
**The tournament was not important, something along these lines was what was supposed to happen. We're going totally off book now, I'm gonna wing everything from here on out though.**
**Lord Kent sort of wanted you to make yourself scarce, while he concludes the tournament. So maybe you could camp on the road? It is a bit late when you leave.**
**go for it, i cant remember if we said, but its probably like a few hours walk back to town, so you can sort of stop anywhere along the road and make camp**
Dice will leave the castle that night, Making sure to stop by his room to pick up the other items he had requested from his attendant (assuming they are there) before leaving. As he made his way out he would place a note on his door asking the attendant to deliver 20 large steaks to the room full of gnolls. Once about an hour away from the palace, he would move a few hundred feet off the road and setup camp for the night.
"Ahh, Mayor Fellstone sent you. Well how would you feel about no longer working for him, and instead working for me?"
"I am listening" I will say in his mind.

***Yeah, I guess I would head back to the other town... although Dice would like to take a long rest somewhere maybe?***
**Lord Kent sort of wanted you to make yourself scarce, while he concludes the tournament. So maybe you could camp on the road? It is a bit late when you leave.**
***Yeah, that is fine... Dice would haul ass out of there.. I just would want to maybe rest before getting back into town...***

**yeah, when you get back to your room your butler guy had left you the items you wanted.**
You take a long rest and wake up in the morning feeling refreshed. Continuing on afterwards back to town.
**its mid-morning now, are you heading right to the mayor? or going somewhere else?**
*** any levels while a slept? Maybe? no... ok...***
