The anger that burned in the pit of his stomach vanished and was soon replaced with dread as they walked through the windmill. Leon did his best to ignore the trembling figures, the markings, and the malicious aura that tainted his. He kept his eyes forward, only diverting his gaze to keep an eye on everyone else.
This was a sight new to him. It didn’t occur that evil such as this plagued the world. It kept him going as he readied himself for any kind of ambush.

CHAPTER 4 SUMMERTIME ENCOUNTER 2: THE CONVERTED WINDMILL AREA W5
As you slowly climb up the steps to AREA W5, you look to your left and can see Astrid climbing to the window from outside, then peeking in. There is no glass in the window, so you can enter W5 at any time, Astrid.
The entire area is something out of a nightmare. Blood covers the entire room, and a large pentagram with burning candles at it's points. Not just on the pentagram, but candle also completely litter the floor, providing enough that that it's not dark anymore. There are about 10 dead bodies tied to the walls on various sides completely gutted open from their chests, their entrails spilled on the floor. The smell is beyond anything you've sensed so far, but what you notice that's more horrifying is that the bodies are freshly sacrificed - some still bleeding out.
In the middle of the room is an ancient millstone that lies under a jumble of debris that includes machinery and pieces of the collapsed roof. There is a locked door heading into AREA W7, but the other doors are unlocked.
There is horrible moaning and wailing coming from every direction on this floor. It claws at your sanity and threatened to weaken your resolve.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
CHAPTER 4 SUMMERTIME ENCOUNTER 2: THE CONVERTED WINDMILL AREA W7
Astrid almost losing her lunch, Pheral unlocks the door. In addition to the blood, candles, and flayed bodies on the wall, you see the two cultists Vaelle was talking about - Arn Xalrondar and Seffia Naelryke. You have caught them in the act of handing off a small stone to a winged demon through a window clinging to the outside wall.
The enormous pentagram on the floor along with the candles illuminate with power as the winged demon speaks in Abyssal to Arn and Seffia - and then bounds back down to the ground and starts sprinting away. Arn and Seffia slowly turn and draw short swords - to your horror the gutted dead bodies along the walls begin screaming and writhing. There is debris and trash everywhere, there is so much blood it's literally a tripping hazard.
Arn: 3 Seffia: 14 FC: 18 Azrael: 17
Your chances of catching up to the demon is GREATER if you flee and run after it NOW, as opposed to killing the cultists and then beginning your chase. I'll let you guys discuss the situation before posting again. I don't want to go to far and pass people up.
Azrael would whisper to pheral "Better to not assume what she did or did not do, correct?" He said, pointing to the dead, dying, and 'other' heinous sights and smells that curled his highly sensitive nose.
(Noneditor and Cantor use voice to text anymore for some reason)
Pheral whispers back. Correct, best to judge someone on known actions. And believe me, if we learn she indeed have a hand in ritual murder, i will slight her throat myself.
Upon seeing the demon Pheral takes off after it and back down the stair letting her team know that it must be stopped. It has the stone. It must be destroyed. We an let the city watch deal with these murderers in here.

Azrael cast his gust of wind spell at the cultist to keep them from pursuing. He then started chasing after the demon as well
( still at work no access to the editor. Just making sure the spell is right, it's the one that pushes them back 15 ft return every time they fail the save and last for like a minute I do it in a way towards very hard for them to pursue so like partially down the stairs so that every time they get there they basically get knock-back)

CHAPTER 4 SUMMERTIME ENCOUNTER 3: THE CHASE
Astrid rappels down the tower. Azrael's wind gust slams the cultists against the wall, stunning them. They do not pursue. Lythril runs past them and leaps out the window. You take 8 damage, slamming on your shield as you hit the ground. Leon, FC, and Pheral run back down the stairs, and Dani casts her spell. Here's the save: 14. It's a spined devil, and it got hit hard, but it's not out. It keeps running. Trying to avoid the City Watch griffon patrols that fly above Waterdeep at night, it runs instead of flies. As you all chase behind it, it's about 60' ahead of you.
You see two other spined devils join it from alleyways on the side, and the one that got hurt hands the stone off to one of the other devils. Lythril is in the lead, followed by Astrid, and the rest of you.
CHASE RULES
- You all are chasing three spined devils. The chase begins with both teams 60' apart. - You must use a DASH action to keep up with them. If you do NOT you fall behind and are "out of the race". No exceptions. (And yes, I know that you guys can dash a crazy amount, but we're in Waterdeep at night, in a cluttered city - consider this difficult terrain. The exact movement comparisons between both teams is not as important as the challenge itself.) So, this means you can only use bonus actions to attack. If any attack requires you to remain motionless for your turn, you're "out of the race". No exceptions. - The devils are attempting to run and hide from you guys, using the darkness and crowded city to their advantage - so each turn we will have rolls of WISDOM (Perception) vs DEXTERITY (Stealth). ONLY THREE of you will roll once, vs. the THREE spined devils. Meaning, have your best three team members who are not "out of the race" make those checks, I don't want a check from the whole team. - Each time the devils beat someone's perception score, one gets away. So three strikes you've lost em.
Here are their stealth rolls for this round, you guys decide the three people who are going to make one perception check EACH.
