The rolls were made in the game log and you are right they don't show up so I don't know what to say about that. Last night I think it was a bit of a delay, which was an internet issue. I just rolled again and got a 22.

Negative hit points existed in previous editions but are not a part of 5th edition (or 5.5E)
In 5E, the lowest a character's hit points can be reduced to is 0hp remaining.
Are you using the optional Flanking grants advantage rule in your game? Not that it's needed for Harknail's strike 🙂

In 5.5E the flanking rules, optional or otherwise, have been removed entirely.
