Xolan scouting ahead, Katrina & Mellow then Pip and Suri with Yuki in the back. The Green-Teeth foothills and the Fizz River make for some formidably tough terrain as you find yourselves climbing and repelling over numerous stony obstacles. Finally after hours of traversing Xolen waves there is the source of the pollution pouring from a cavernous hole in a rather large rise of stone. The reek is strong the stone is slick and the water from the cavern is clotted with oily debris…

Pip is befuddled by what is going on, every now again stopping and bending down to look at the water, smell it, and gain insight on the source of the contamination. Finally they find perhaps the source. “Looks like it is clogged up with something oily. Perhaps I could burn away the oil?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Mellow speaks up, "I have a spell... Detect Poison and Diseasewhich might or might not help. Unfortunately, I would lose my last bit of healing if I do that."
"Right now, we might consider something such as an invisible scout or perhaps a pet companion that can be stealthy and report back at what they discover."
You all see a warforged in not-too-good shape, practically falling out of the nearby trees. "Bloody hell," they exclaim, looking up at the river, "Is this whole forest blighted? If I needed to eat, I would be damn well screwed." The warforged then seems to notice you all, and says, "Others! Forgive my language, it's been a while since I've had proper company. My name is Charles Hawthorne, former Lieutenant of the King's army."
OOC- Just in the nick of time. A challenging yet welcome backstory... these once were the Star-Shard Foothills, which you might still know them as. Nice.
Be ready this weekend we run the conclusion of the fouled stream, though knowing PBP it will probably go much longer. Hope it's not too easy and yes I'm modifying some to accommodate a possible continuance if all would like.

"Thanks, I've been in quite a few scraps in this forest alone. Animals are getting desperate for whatever food they can find, and I don't blame them. Someone has introduced death into this environment, and midnight approaches for all." Charles gets up and stretches, putting the meld of metallic parts, draconic scale, and sparse areas of flesh and bone on display. "It's a mighty shame that the Shard is poisoned, and I want to help fix it. I take it that's why you all are here as well?"
"Yes, Katarina Spring Blossom, daughter of Grand Duke Proud Shadow, is here to fix the nasty, icky water," Katarina says proudly. "Katarina welcomes more help to stop the slime from filling the stream!"

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
"Good to meet you. And that goes for the rest of you, too. It's nice to be around some trace of civilisation. Fear not, I will not drag you all down. I'm plenty capable in combat and plenty useful out of it as well. 17 years as a soldier, losing most of my body and some of my sanity with it, gives a person plenty of skill and experience. Sorcery such as mine won't be found elsewhere in the army, and is likely rare even across the kingdom."

Mellow waves over Katarina and points to some tracks along the riverside. "More giant frogs or something new?"

Pip considers, saying “It depends on how concentrated it is, you’re right. We don’t have enough data…”
