Yuki speaks, "Can we get back to investigating the river? Or just stare at our new party member?"

 The only way in along a slick side path.  What lights are being used?

Mellow has candles.  He lights one -- which gives a bit of light but not so much as to seem we are lighting up the entire place with a bonfire.   "It is not a torch but it does the job."   He can pass back candles to others if they wish.

For those without darkvision a candle is good to see about 5’ dim light.  Xolan will then join the party not wanting to be alone in the dark…

Now that we have a light source and Xolan stays close with the party rather than scouting ahead, would anyone with darkvision like to perhaps take a more forward position?

Yuki casts light on one of her daggers and holds it out, "This should be a better light than a candle."

As Mellow hands out candles to those who would like (Xolan takes one) and Yuki casts Illuminous Lumen her dagger lights up with the brilliance of a blue star.  The smell is terrible it’s not earthy or ‘death-like’ it has a weird aseptic quality. The walls sparkle in the light glinting here and there.  There is the normal drip and rush of filthy water, but also you hear and feel almost breathing long regular shallow inhale exhale nearly imperceptible.  Once within another strange sensation your tongues begin to feel slightly numb…

As everyone’s eyes adjust and you take in the odd sensations, if no one else takes the lead Xolan with his lit candle begins moving further in trying his best to be stealthy relying on his halfling luck to proceed unheard/unseen.

Xolan gets to a place where the stone floor begins to widen.  An ear-piercing alarm sounds everyone can hear and possibly covers their ears in a reflexive motion.  The sound does not stop or alternate it is loud everything within 300’ can clearly hear!

Charles knows the Message cantrip and tells everyone, "There was breathing before. Someone is here, and this noise is to distract us. We have some communication with this cantrip, but we shouldn't let whoever is in here know that we can still hear each other.

-OOC: assume Charles casts it enough times to speak to everyone in turn.

 Charles becomes aware that the composition of the walls here will block the use of message around corners.  OOC- Excellent use of this cantrip.

Xolan whispers back, “I don’t see the source of the siren!  I didn’t set off a trap that I can tell…”

Charles beckons the group to move forward, but slowly, and cautiously. 

-OOC can i make a perception check to see where the sound is coming from?

Perception (very difficult) 16 to generally know what direction.

Xolan continues to try and be stealthy with his candle making his way in another 20’…

The sound is originating from straight ahead up higher then the floor...

As a matter of fact with your perception and Kat Pip and Suri's dark-vision- those within 60' who have dark vision can see this.

Charles would like to walk up further to see if he can investigate the sound, and uses Message to ask if anyone has a ranged spell attack to destroy those mushrooms.

map.  I'm not going into initiative with this creature as it cannot fight back so...

Charles uses the chill touch cantrip on the mushrooms, attempting to use the necrotic hand to crush the mushrooms without having to directly touch them.

25 to hit.

Yuki whispers, "I know detect magic, where do you want me to use it?"

Jeez, I'm rolling good today. 

11 necrotic damage on the mushrooms

Charles tells Yuki to get within range of the mushrooms and see if they are of magical origin.

Yuki moves towards the mushrooms and uses Detect Magic.
