Name: Elias Marlowe Species: Human Class: Warlock (The Great Old One) Background: Physician
Backstory:
Elias Marlowe built his career investigating suspicious deaths, earning a reputation for uncovering murders hidden behind accidents, illness, and superstition. Early in his career, he misidentified a murder as an accident, and an innocent man was executed before the truth came to light. Unable to live with his mistake, Elias begged for the dead to reveal what they had seen, and something beyond the Veil answered. The unseen presence never offered names or solutions, only fragments that pointed him towards evidence he might otherwise miss. Lord Cedric Sinclair first met Elias while investigating a series of deaths believed to be the work of a curse, and together they exposed an ordinary killer. Cedric learned of the whispers but insisted they should never replace evidence, a lesson Elias has followed ever since. When Cedric's final letter arrived asking for help because there were few in the house he trusted, Elias left immediately despite the storm. He reached Blackbriar Hall only to find his friend murdered behind a locked door. Elias intends to solve the case the same way he solves every mystery by trusting the body, questioning the living, and considering the whisper in the context of the evidence before him..
Hyacinth was born in the slums of Klaringvoss, her mother had fallen on hard times due to her pregnancy and had a hard scrabble life to try and provide for her infant daughter with few relevant skills.
After her mothers death Hyacinth went from neighbour to neighbour crashing on couches or in spare rooms, sometimes it was nice...until it wasn't.
Hyacinth was utter aimless and had few prospects, she tried street performing to bring in cash and had some talent but not enough to ever break her out of busking, when she got desperate she fell in with a local network of cutpurses and burglars but never developed the hard edge necessary to go further. Starving and desperate she finally succumbed to one of the street peddlers offering ' Hope and Salvation' on the corners of the city.
It took her a month or so to realise she had joined a cult.......and another month or so to realise who the cult was dedicated to.....by that time she'd already been ' sanctified' and been made a disciple......it was a few weeks later when throwing away most of her old junk for ' The Cleansing' she found the letter from her mother that she'd never read.
A letter that detailed -
That her mother had been a very sought after escort often visited by a Lord Sinclair of Blackbriar Hall and that Hyacinth was his daughter and that he had confirmed with her mother that he would acknowledge her as his when she attended Blackbriar Hall. Enclosed was a torn letter from Lord Sinclair acknowledging the same.....though the lower part of the letter was missing.
So.... how is the selection going?
