Here be Dragones! A full Tyranny of Dragons Play-Through (Game Thread)

(OOC: Neega knows she is not stealthy, so for this excursion she would probably take up the rear-guard position.)

(OoC-Cass is second in the marching order)

(OOC: Fuzzpaw is in third)

JoJo was rear guard on the way in, but can be wherever the group feels he fits in best.

(OOC:  So it sounds like the marching order is: JoJo, Cass, Fuzzpaw, Neega)

As you go through the unused tunnel, you hear the scrabbling of many rodents

JoJo walks quickly through the tunnel, avoiding the cobwebs and crawling rodents.

When JoJo gets to the locked gate he scans the outside, then steps aside for Cass to unlock, whispering, are you locking it when we depart or leave it unlocked?

Perception 20

Jojo feels the cold feet of rats crawling over his feet, but the rodents don’t seem hostile. He also hears muffled chatter of tough voices outside passing by; they just happen to be in the area and aren’t aware of the tunnel

JoJo lets Cass know through hand signals (or simple pantomime or low whisper) the people outside the tunnel.

Neega listens to the voices trying to determine how far they are and if the voices seem to be standing still or moving toward/away from the party in the tunnel entrance.

Perception: 11 

Cass pauses at JoJo’s warning and raises a hand, signaling the group to remain still rather than immediately reaching for the lock. He listens carefully to the muffled voices beyond the gate while selecting the proper key from the ring in his hand.

He waits, giving Neega time to judge the distance and movement of the voices before answering JoJo’s question. “If this passage remains undiscovered, I intend to lock it behind us, but I would prefer not to announce our presence by opening the gate into the middle of a conversation.”

JoJo nods agreement to Cass, then turns and looks to Fuzzpaw and gives him a thumbs up to show he is doing a good job so far.

 She perceives that they’re passing by but moving slowly

Neega can’t make out how many there are outside. Jojo may be able to see

Fuzzpaw holds his breath in silence, waiting for the voices outside the tunnel to pass by. He looks to Cass in front of him and Neega behind him as he grips his staff anxiously. Seeing JoJo give him a thumbs up sign encourages him, and he returns the sign.

(OOC: Has it been over 8 hours since the first battle?)

Cass waits until the voices outside have drifted a little farther down the riverbed before raising a hand for silence. Resting two fingers against the symbol hanging beneath his cloak, he whispers, "Let wandering ears find wandering ghosts," and the words seem to vanish into the darkness ahead.

A moment later, a chorus of hushed voices begins carrying through the night thirty feet beyond the passing raiders, as though unseen figures are holding a cautious conversation somewhere ahead. Cass remains beside the gate, listening for any change in the raiders' pace or direction while preparing to unlock the passage the moment their attention shifts toward the phantom whispers.

CastThamaturgy, Phantom Sound to try and cause a diversion so the party can slip out.

Perception to see 18

Jojo sees that there are 6 kobolds and two cultists. They apparently are looking for people and not openings.

They attempt to perceive from whence the sound came and whether or not it’s real. *What sort of noises is Cass creating to distract them?*
