Cass keeps close to the buildings as the group moves through the smoke-filled streets, carefully watching the kobolds and robed raiders scattered throughout the town while following Lina’s lead toward the keep. “Knew a sergeant named Doran Voss,” he says quietly to those nearest him, “and he used to say that the best fight is the one the enemy never realizes it missed, so I would rather reach the keep unseen than spend lives on battles that do nothing to help this family reach safety.”
You manage to skirt around the mob of kobolds and weird people by taking a side street, but about halfway to the keep, you literally run into a group of six kobolds, who were laden with coins, rolled carpets, and candles.
“Hey watch it,” shouts one of them, who then realizes that you might not be cultists or kobolds.
*Action shall ensue unless someone comes up with a good excuse.* <EDIT: there was no good excuse; but probably no excuse would have been good in this scenario >
Hello hello, I am Mr. Dicestone, a fellow adventurer and Planeswalker, enjoying the realm of wonders and wizardry and clicky math rocks. When not crafting the wonderful and whimsical world of Dan-thurás, I’m also working on custom spells and subclasses (hopefully coming soon to a forum or campaign near you) and other enjoyable settings for people to experience or staring with my third eye into space, rolling dice for no reason
Neega keeps near Lina at the front of the group, shield raised and sword in hand as they move through the side street toward the keep.
As they round the corner, the kobolds are suddenly there. One of them nearly runs into her shield, arms full of stolen coins and rolled carpet. Its shout snaps out sharp and angry, then cuts short as its eyes move over Neega’s armor, her shield, and the others behind her.
Neega does not wait for the alarm to spread. Her longsword flashes toward the closest kobold in a hard slash meant to cut its shout short before the warning spreads.
Initiative: (21)
Attack (longsword): Attack: 23 Damage: 11 (slashing) + Sap
Fuzzpaw follows close behind the others, deferring to their obvious experience. As he attempts to sneak through the city, he trips over his own feet and nearly falls to the ground. He readjusts his robe and looks up, only to find a kobold staring right at him and the rest of the party.
"Oh my," he says to himself, then before he can stop himself he says to kobold, "If you'll excuse us, we'll just be on our way."
He holds his breath as the kobold stares him down.
That was foolish of me, he thinks to himself, what would a real adventurer do in this moment? Should I attack like I did before? My Mage Armor still protects me; perhaps I should take the initiative.
(EDIT: Oh we posted at the exact same time! Just pretend my post happened right before cndnd's post, and Fuzzpaw was still speaking while Neega attacked. Fuzzpaw is inexperienced, so it fits him lol.)
As Neega swings her sword down toward the kobold, movement out the corner of her eye catches her attention. Feeling the sword make contact, she quickly looks down to see the strange fuzzy bear-like creature looking up toward the kobold she just struck.
(OOC: Lol, the hazard of play-by-post I guess. With those rolls, I imagine Fuzzpaw is now apologizing to an ex-kobold.)
Fuzzpaw is startled by Neega's sudden attack, and instinctively holds up his staff with both hands, guarding himself. As Neega's attack lands, he lowers his staff and extends one hand, readying himself to launch an attack of his own.

OOC as JoJo is in the rear and his main attack is the dagger how far is he from a kobald?
Initative 22
*He’s within 30 feet of a kobold. As everyone is intermingled, combat will be pandemonium. The initiative rolls will fit the narrative actions very well; Fuzzpaw’s late initiative from apologizing to a kobold who has already banished to the shadow realm is very on-theme lol*

JoJo mumbles under his breath about his rotten luck and how blessed he is fighting kobalds, slashes with his dagger at the closest one. He proceeds to continue to attempt to hit as many different kobolds as he can (if I hit, I just go to the next one, ignoring any wounded.) Not sure which ones
Well, three kobolds get sent immediately to a farm upstate by Jojo’s fast action.
Nerga cleaves a fourth, leaving Fuzzpaw slightly confused when the head of the kobold to whom he was talking to just flops onto the pavement.
*Action has come to Fuzzpaw*
*Sorry Cass, you might not get any action this time*
