Dexterity saving throws for the young remorhaz versus Hail of Thorns: 6 | 19
Rixton takes one final shot at the fleeing berserker; just before the barbarian disappears into the shadows and shelter offered by the cave, he is struck by another of Rixton's arrows. Rixton's investigation of the altar doesn't reveal anything that he didn't already expect: a moderately-well crafted image of a winged serpent and evidence that sacrifices take place at the altar's base.
The first of the young remorhazes descends into the subterranean lair from which it came while the second one faces a punishing round of ranged attacks from Carrow, Andor, and Ladrian. As the monster reaches the foot of the incline Vigan becomes the target of its ill intent. With a mouth filled with fire and teeth, it strikes at the goliath...
Bite attack: 23 | Piercing damage, if successful: 15 + 4 fire damage
(All players may act in any order)
Tracking:
Vigan is within 5' of the young remorhaz
Carrow and Ladrian are within 25' of the young remorhaz
Andor is approximately 75' above the young remorhaz
Rixton is approximately 90' above the young remorhaz but doesn't have an angle to attack from where he currently stands
(Second roll for remorhaz's attack, to account for the disadvantage created by Vigan's dodge: 12)

Dexterity saving throws for the young remorhaz: 20 | 21
The young remorhaz is both alert enough and quick enough to avoid much of Carrow's Hail of Thorns, but the ranger's two arrows are enough to end the monster's life. Once again, Vigan has a front-row seat as he watches a remorhaz collapse to the ground. Steam rises from the icy floor as the fiercely hot flesh of the remorhaz makes contact with it.
"Well that voice that I told you about said that someone called Wormblod was in charge of this clan and that he was leading them to evil and if we stopped him we would be rewarded." Andor relays to the rest of the group. "I don't like evil people and I do like rewards, so that sounds good. But what about these things here?" He points at the alter and the gong "Maybe if I was a giant one of these things would be important, let's face it is is probably going to be big!"

Carrow
Lowering his bow and inspecting the dead Remorhaz he turns to Vigan "You were ready to face the creature down I commend that, thank you" pausing for a second he thinks "did it strike you, can I see the wound? "
Can Carrow learn anything more about the Remorhaz, and can he take anything from it?
Nature: 9
Seeing Vigans wound and inspecting it with a curious facination Carrow will cast Cure Wounds on the barbarian.
Rixton approaches the crescent-shaped gong that hangs in a crude stone frame. Roughly 13 feet in diameter, the gong is actually an enormous shield that is now missing a large piece. It's constructed of red dragon scales bolted to a beaten copper frame, and its leather arm straps are long gone.
Carrow studies the young remorhaz but learns nothing that he didn't already know.

Vigan
Attack of Opportunity: 20
Damage: 12
I stop the remorhaz at 10 feet away, so it doesn't hit me, hooray! I'll still take that healing from Carrow though, puts me up to max health.
The goliath accepts the aid from Carrow and lets out a short laugh. "Hah! I had faith the four of you would kill it before it did any real damage! My wounds are not severe, but thank you for the aid, friend."
Looking round the cavern, Vigan's eyes fall on Rixton studying the gong, and he shouts up to him "Is that what we have come here for?"
Without waiting for an answer, he continues. "If it is, I suppose you will be wanting me to carry it back to the ship?"
I try and cut down the shield with my short sword. "I have a feeling this is it, gentlemen," I say. "It is missing a piece, though. Let's check the bodies for anything that might fit."
With two quick slashes of his sword, Rixton is able to free the giant shield from the stone frame. It's heavy--weighing well over 200 pounds--and awkward.
A search of the dead barbarians reveals nothing more than their hide armor and weapons (two greataxes and two spears).
"Give him a big shield and he thinks nobody can hurt him..." Andor mutters as he looks over the ledge at the cave entrances looking for any sign of more enemies.

"Hmph, I suppose if it were a lair of women and wine, you would gladly lead the way. So be it." The goliath makes his way across the slippery floor to the cave entrance the berserker escaped into, then heads into the gloom, glaive still drawn.
Someone want to pick up the 4x hide armor and 4x weapons? I can carry the shield, but not if I load up on other stuff.
Upon entering the cave, the group is surprised by the increase in temperature. Natural steam vents located in the rock provide the warmth. Within a few minutes, it becomes obvious that each of the cave openings in the southern wall is connected to the others via at least one tunnel. The five adventurers pass through a few small rooms with simple beds and rudimentary belongings before they finally come to a torch-lit room that houses seven tribe members--four women, two small children, and one elderly, bedridden man. It is obvious they are non-combatants and very afraid.
Having battled with female berserkers of the Uthgardt tribe in the recent past, the goliath stares at the four women, not quite trusting them not to suddenly leap at him with a dagger or other small implement. Finally judging them to not be a threat, he silently raises his hand to them, palm facing down in placation, before forming a question with a single word. "Wormblod?"
