“I think we need to approach this with a level head and a plan.” Phrael offered as he looked at the Skewered Dragon, but then walked through the door. ”Next rounds on me!” The wood elf exclaimed as he walked up to the bar, looking for the bartender or waitress to make this happen. “I’ll need some for myself and friends as well.”
"Indeed."Flux tacks on dryly as he lets his attention drift to the other patron. He is in particular looking for any signs of the patrons taking a special interest in the group, or bearing markings as described by the shop keep. "So what is the actual plan?"He asks quietly without allowing his attention to drift away from the other patrons.

After finding a table - because of course no one walked you to one - you guys look around and see two different groups of people, the first one seems as they've been there for days, even seating two tables away you perceive how they reek of liquor and sweat, they aren't talking as much as they continue drinking and didn't really pay attention to you.
The second group is making a lot more noise but not in a hostile way, they're chatting stomping the table and hitting each other randomly - or so it seems -
When you entered there wasn't a tablemaid or someone behind the bar but after a couple of minutes an old but strong man returned carrying a keg and dropped it behind the bar. He did took special attention on your group but he's attention was quickly demanded from one of the group of people.
After looking around the tavern, Flux noticed someone drinking alone - dressed as a sailor- and on the farthest table two guys playing cards.

"Kebron, you seem like an adept with a deck of cards. What do say about joining the fun with those two lads over there?" asks Rin as he points toward the table with the card players.
"Evening, gentlemen!"says Rin with a smile and a nod. "I've just recently learned how to play cards, and I'm itchin' to try my luck. Maybe win a few coppers, you know? Any chance my friend and I could join in?"(Persuasion: 20)

Oh sure! We'll love to teach you how to play the game, grab a chair - as they collectively celebrate the opportunity of easy money - we are opening the game with 5 coppers, pay up.
-to win the game you need to roll three consecutive rolls with no modifiers, the DC will increase if opponents fold (only to a max of 15, I'll start rolling dice to determine that any number below then folds ) you are playing against 5 opponents -
The one that accepted both of you at their table starts dealing the cards, all noise is interrupted by the serious tone of the game - more money, more drinks, right? - they all look at their cards, some couldn't hide their joy and others almost emptied their kegs with frustration

- Ok, so a sucky night for the people at the table, only one feels confident enough to continue - and it was the guy that dealt the cards - aww come on! They're just learning the game, let's play with them...aight let's do this. -
Just roll 3d20, in order to win you must beat the following numbers 10, 12 and 15 ( max difficulty against only one guy) the order of the results doesn't matter. You have can roll Twi if you are proficient or after a successful sleight of hand
"Don't get killed." Phrael offered in parting to Flux as he made his way up to the bar where the Old man had just dropped off a fresh keg. "My friends and I need some drinks and we've got the money to pay." The wood elf tapping at the coin purse at his side, the dragons jingling with each tap.
Flux nods solemnly as he relaxed back into his seat. After having done his due diligence directing the others to the card game, he was ready to sit back, try to relax, but mostly keep a close eye out for Phrael. As his lord would expect of him, loosely undercover though he might be. But unless a weapon is drawn or he happens to spy more 'flying snake' tattoos, Flux kept his usual paranoia and jumpiness to a minimum.

Rin feels that strange sense of excitement that always overtakes him when a bit of gambling comes his way. Doing his best to keep up the appearance of being new to the world of cards, the rogue says, "Thanks, fellas, for havin' me in the game!"
First set of rolls: 12, 14, 12
Second set of rolls (because Rindarius is proficient with playing cards): 14, 7, 5
Wow hahaha, that dwarf had no idea of whatwwas going on, but I'm getting the idea this wasn't your first time playing cards - says to Rin - ....but I rather play against a real challenge this bunch always fold - he hands you a bag 14 cp - I think we can get a bit more serious now, shall we? - he was clearly the most educated of the group as they started laughing at him when Rin won -
"Don't get killed." Phrael offered in parting to Flux as he made his way up to the bar where the Old man had just dropped off a fresh keg. "My friends and I need some drinks and we've got the money to pay." The wood elf tapping at the coin purse at his side, the dragons jingling with each tap.
That's all I ask for, that'll be 5 coppers (total) and grabs four kegs - with no apparent intention of filling them without taking the coins first - I've never seen you here, what brings you here? I'm sure is not my "killer" ale.

"Let's give it another go. Definitely," responds Rin. "Maybe a few silvers this time?"
Rindarius does his best to assess just how sharp and observant these card players might be (Insight: 11) because he is half tempted to use a bit of cheating sleight of hand to encourage lady luck to join his team.
(If DM would prefer an Investigation check (+3 for Rindarius), then the above roll would be 7)

All right then, I'm thinking 3 silvers - after he says that, 3 of the other guys sitting at the table show no interest in participating, but the next game caughts their attention so they show expectant to what Rin and Kebron say - Rin does his usual, inspect the people at the table, but couldn't get a clear idea of what specifically caught the attention of the guys at the table "do they want to see the probably know-it-all ****** lose? Or are just half drunk and couldn't care less? -
The guy starts dealing cards again (this time they'll fold with 7 or less)
Reaching into a little sack, Phrael produces 5 copper and places it on top of the bar. "My friends and I never get too far without grabbing a drink. You got troll piss in a cup, we'll take it, but we probably won't be returning." The wood elf leans against the bar as he waits for his drink, a quick glance given to Kebron and Rin that were making progress of their own. Not a second thought was given to bluebeard, that dragonborn always managing well enough on their own. "We're looking for a friend of ours that we just need to get a hold of. A strawberry blonde human by the name of Floon Blagmaar. Dresses a little nicer than one would expect considering the locations the man visits."He'd pull out a dragon and place it on the bar, a single finger pressing against it as he shifts it from side to side. "We heard he was probably here just a couple days ago. Know anything about that?"

The barkeep places the drinks in front of Phrael with no intention of taking them to your table and looks at the dragon laying on the table and then again to Phrael - Well I certainly remember an odd pair having more drinks that they could handle, one guy fits your description and the other one was carrying books, lots parchment and weird stuff like that, he wanted to win me by talking lots of nonsense 'bout monsters and ghosts to avoid paying for what they drank, he paid anyways, people always pays at the skewered dragon - said with a proud smile - after that he said goodbye to his friend and left. His friend remained drooling on my table, I was about to kick him from here but apparently another friend of him arrived and they continued drinking so I stopped paying attention, they both left at the same time after playing a few rounds of Three-Dragon Ante. - Grabs the coin and reaches for a dirty rag to clean some kegs - Let me know if you need anything else...
”Uh, yes.”Losing his coin for the info. Expected a bit more but, probably just what was needed. Grabbing the drinks, Phrael would make his way toward Flux to hand him one. “Noticing anything, Blue?”Glancing toward Rin and Kebron again. ”Barkeep confirmed Floon was here with Volo. Volo left, but Floon ended up having a bit too good of a time with the bottom of a tankard and made some bad decisions with a game of Three Dragon Ante...”
Flux simply shakes his head. Between having to keep an eye out for Team Kebrin and Phaerl, there had not been much genuine time to look into the patrons. He mentions as much briefly as takes his drink and begins his usual ritual of purification. Before he got to into however, he says, "But nothing on the men mentioned by the shopkeep? Or patrons bearing similiar tattoos? Hmph. Guess we wait and see what the other two suss out. Though, I suppose you can go over there and hint a direction for their inquiries. Maybe the gamblers knew who this other 'friend' of floon was that was with'em."He suggests.
